Cool video. They would become one of my favorite rock 'n' roll bands. This performance reminds me of my first band's first concert, when I was 17. We went onstage after only 3 rehearsals together. But we did have great fun :)
Donnas Skin Tight was a co -creation with the dubiously talented band members from Redd Kross here in California. It upset me because I didn't want my favorite band to sound like the Runaways. I want the Runaways to sound like the Runaways. But Donnas did a great version of Dancing With Myself from the Mean Girls soundtrack...they're very talented at whatever they do.
PLEASE DONNAS GET BACK TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY PLAYED PRETTY DARN GOOD FOR GIRLS THAT DIDN'T PLAY & JUST PICKED THEIR INSTRUMENTS & STARTED TO PLAY TO BE IN A BAND FIR THE LUNCH BREAK TALENT SHOW!!!!!!!
My issue with the Donnas is that Darin Raffaelli produced and wrote all of their songs for two years. When you hear their music in several movies, it is his music. His label issued all their best recordings, and yet he is never mentioned publicly by them. They're talented but not the megastars they were with him.
That's a long ago comment, still valid today. However, Donnas have said several times they felt Darin quite a bit overbearing, like they were kinda tool for Mr Rafaelli to execute his own musical ideas, bit like the 60s girl groups that were an inspiration. Their move to Lookout label immediately resulted in a different more metal 70s sound. I much prefer their radio X sounds way over the later stuff, and this vid proves to me, that that rough rocking sound was theirs early on. Dunno what happened between the band and Rafaelli, but there is a reason he's never mentioned. Shame really, cuz that stuff is young snotty cracking Fun to hear every time !!
i wondered why their music was great and the lyrics were really good until around the time of 'spend the night', ill still go and see them play but i havent liked their last few albums.
Such cute kids! And the English sounds just as bad as my Shonen Knife album did years ago! Great stuff, but I don't think the crowd there really got it at all.
