These really are a turn offs when a women do these things. I loved a girl a lot but she always play games while texting back(Like pretending to be busy),she is too passive and most of the time she only communicates on texts which sucks. Lastly I ended the relationship:(

People don't understand how important texting is in today's generation. And this not only goes for relationships, but goes for friendships and even business deals.
@Spooky Spectre those are true, but doesn't fit everyone. Me for instance, am already experienced in dealing with people face to face and such, but when texting was introduced, it expanded my possibilities of communication. As with most things, you have to use things as tools and not immerse in them fully. Same thing with money, use money as a tool and not immerse yourself in it. Texting should never be a way of life and main form of communication...only a tool.

I once had a guy who ONLY texted. I can say that this hid a troublesome character behind, but I was too blind to see it back then. Trust your guts: when a behaviour feels unnatural, it actually IS.
Yup, know a few guys who do this. The ONLY ever communicate via text / whatsapp. Never calls, never pick up the phone. Huge red flag - avoid avoid avoid.

@@countesspuritania it depends...if that person is seeing a therapist, you can act with compassion and be supportive, provided that you want to wait until they get well and of course if they have asked you to do so. If they aren't seeing a therapist, you cannot replace a specialist's work. You can suggest that they ask for professional counselling, but other than that, I'm afraid there are not many things you can do. Each one is responsible for their own salvation and well-being, not you.

I had a guy who ONLY texted. He wasn’t a phone guy but when he said off the wall things, I just called him. He appreciated that. Things didn’t work out, I mean dude couldn’t even tell me how beautiful I was, & he said he didn’t know how or when to do that, so he doesn’t do it...even though he said I was attractive🙄 moral of the story, like I did this guy, sometimes just asking the dude “where is this going?” early on, can save you a lot of trouble. I also did that, and he basically said our careers didn’t Align. Can you imagine if I would’ve waited longer than three months to ask him that? We don’t have time to waste these days
Had the same problem. He told me he never called anybody even growing up in the 80s which is BS. I've seen him take a call from his children before but I guess they're the only exception. I used one of Matthew's text messages about how I would love to hear his voice but even that wasn't enough to get him to make a call. Even tried calling him myself only once but got no call back or no text saying sorry I missed your call (How rude). It gets boring to just text all the time. Sadly, I had to give him an ultimatum which I dislike doing. Thankfully, we didn't hang out that much so I wasn't too attached but still, I feel like I wasted my time. I ended up blocking the guy because I disliked the mixed signals.

I learned my lesson that texting is the worst type of communication. I make it clear to new people I meet that, I am not a texter and won’t engage in any lengthy conversation over text. I prefer to have a phone chat for 2 reasons: #1 I find texting is a huge waste of time (going back and forth with texts can take toooo long of my precious time), #2 it can lead to misunderstandings. Unless this is a short informative, practical message about time, address, etc. I don’t text.
I used to do the first, not to appear busy but to get back in an indirect way. He texted late, so even when I wasn't busy, I texted late. Eventually the vibe died. Happened a lot until I realized my toxic texting pattern and grew out of it. Y'all can too!

I downloaded the Momentum Texts after first watching this video. This video and those texts upped my game. I’m in serious relationship now with a guy I met online. When I asked him why we hit it off so well in the first place he said “ because I actually responded to his messages”. If I had played waiting games he may have moved on. I waited for him to initiate most of the time but always responded. We were both travelling at the time but met as soon as possible and the rest is history. Going strong 4 months in. He is away again and we text talk send photos memes flirt etc numerous times a day just for a quick connect. Fun. PS we are in our mid 60s. You can teach old dogs new tricks. Thank you Matthew

My GF of 11 years and me use texting constantly, sometimes next to each other. We go through rotational "phases" where we suddenly change our texting behavior. Such as. - Emoji phase: Everything is communicated using emojis or stickers - Face phase: we reply to everything with selfies communicating with just facial expressions - Simpsons phase: reply using only simpsons quotes - Title phase: using the link preview feature, communicate using only titles of articles or news. - Audio phase: usually its the shortest lived one since sometimes we are on video conference or something that doesnt allow us to send each other audios. - TH-cam phase: similar to title phase but you need to open the video to actually understand what the reply is. We only do pure text replies when its something serious we need to set on writing, for example the list of meds to buy at the pharmacy.

It simply means he wasn't that interested. There's no rudeness in that comment. It was straight forward and to the point. If he wasn't ready for straight forward, I would go with the assumption he's more of a player type personality. He'll show interest when he wants it not when you want it.
I really love how you addressed the fact that you shouldn’t fake your busyness in order to look cool. It feels really inauthentic, and it’s sad that some creators even consider what you spoke against as top tier relationship advice.
Matthew's Tipps are actually valiable and not hard to bring into textmessages. I would even say you should try to adapt these tipps into your normal messages with friends and family because it gives you a little bit of originallity, which makes you more apealing to all the people in general, be it your friends, your family or a potencial partners. You do not have to adapt all of them, but what i am saying is that he got a point there an you should try it and see how it goes for you. It really is worth the try. The biggest problem our generation has is that for us love= anxiety. If people get someone easily and don't have to "suffer" for it, we don't get interested. That's why people play these mind games of not texting quick and pretending to not care and it creates this all cycle.

Now widow of many years. Later in ltr where guy cheated on me so I left. Men nowadays do not want to commit or get married. They have been there, done that. Been married multiple times. My difficulty with texting is that with WFH I literally am by my phone 24/7 and sometimes I need to focus on something else or I just don't feel like texting but because I have so much control about when I text back if I suddenly decide I want to go to bed in the middle of a conversation I get worried it comes across like I am playing games. And even looking at the generation of the person you're talking to, people will view texting differently based on their exposure to cell phones growing up. But in personal life? You can do more than just coordinate hangouts via text. This conversation we're having here, this could be a conversation in a text. It's also why we have emojis, can send pictures/reaction gifs/etc. I have writer friends - and we write each other essays. Lol.

The losing momentum one got me. I actually happened to be busy cleaning and I was away from my phone for a few hours. The guy I'm into texted me one of those 'what's in front of me right now' photos. It was super cute that he was sharing that with me, but he must've felt that I didn't care or was ignoring him because by the time I saw his text and responded, all the momentum was lost and he didn't even reply to my response. :( And I didn't want to tell him that I had been busting my butt and sweating like crazy for fear of sounding unappealing and/or like I was making up some excuse, but in hindsight, I feel like I should've told him because then it might've not seemed like I was off doing better things and that his cute text was insignificant to me. I met a girl online, she is an English teacher. She wasn't sure when I asked her to hang out with me, but then she said okay for a coffee. then she started to delay the meeting, from one day to another. I felt like she tries to play "the hard to get", or she plays games. I said to her that I'm not interested anymore, I don't deal with games. she was furiously angry and overactive. She told me that she trusted me, and you accused me of games. (I don't know what she meant by trust). she unfriended me on Facebook, and I thanked her for that. what I want to say to women is that you don't need to play games in order to convince someone of worth, every person can sense the games from miles away. mature and high-value people don't deal with games. I would give a person some couple chances if they keep bullshiting me I have no time for such people. Just be authentic, be honest, and be a normal person.

I feel compelled to reference one of your own videos titled "Why My Dating Advice Is Dangerous for You". The tactic of "gracious impatience" might get the guy to change behavior temporarily, only to revert back to low investment later. In my experience, when there are red flags from the beginning, no amount of "gracious impatience" or other strategies is going to actually turn things around. It may, however, lead to you acquiring some temporary false hope and waisting your time. I've been following you for years Matt and I have to say I'm grateful to you for helping me get out of my shell and become more confident. However, you've also led me to waist time applying such tactics on the wrong guys.

Bruh it’s nine minutes long if you think that’s hard then I don’t know what y’all’re gonna accomplish cuz nothing worth having in life is easy. Communication is a skill. Valuable relationships take a little bit of work. If someone is a little awkward in the beginning and doesn’t know how to act composed until the person gets to know them then these videos are useful! Even learning how to make friendships takes a bit of work and a bit of trial and error. The last guy i was talking to was one of those guys who expected me to do all the work when it came to seeing him. It was an hour drive from where I lived and I only visited him once. My job has been doing shutdowns since last September because we have been slow and then Covid-19 hit which has only made things worse. I had been struggling on keeping my bills current and so it was hard to justify spending extra on gas at the time. I told him I was unable to make it there and explained why. He put me on blast and called me selfish. When I asked him how he thought I was selfish by explaining why I was not able to follow through, he said I was only talking about myself constantly. I already feel awkward when people ask me to tell them about myself because I was in a past abusive relationship with a narcissist who gaslit me into thinking I was the problem in the relationship so naturally I don’t open up that quickly to people. Now I am paranoid about how it looks if I have to explain myself. How do you get past that?
Some pretty solid advice. I liked that you said don't play the game of waiting to respond. You hear that advice sometimes and it does feel inauthentic. That never seems like a good way to go.

Online dating sites are there to establish a connection text a few times establish a meeting that’s it. And if there’s a 2nd date same thing message a few times plan 2nd date if haven’t already and no false intimacy during dates with texting. Goal is see each other in person not establish a false fake intimacy with text.

The whole when to text back thing always causes issues. It usually takes me the whole day/hours to text back on a weekday as I have no service at work, so if they text during the day they would not get a reply until like 6pm when I get home
We are not even supposed to be on our phones at all at work, but I sneak off to the bathroom to send a quick message sometimes. I work 12 hours on midnights so I don’t text during the middle part of the day as I am asleep then. I also had to set up a do not disturb time on my phone so that people would not keep waking me up while I am trying to sleep. During the week it is really hard for me to stay in constant contact with people and even harder to call or send or receive voice messages (I work in a factory so it is loud out on the production floor and I cannot keep constantly running to the bathroom) a lot of guys don’t like this, but there is not a lot I can do about it. Work pays bills so it has to be the priority when I am there.

He started opening up about his recent breakup issues in life, hes very career oriented so not so much time to put in relationship.I Opened up about my choice to be pure until the night of my wedding, not into moving in or living together before marriage. He's not ready for something serious. That's not confusing it's just probably not what you wanted to hear. So you can either hang out with him and be basically friends with him knowing it probably won't go further for a while or ever, or you can put your energy into a different guy that actually is looking for something serious and go from there.

I kind of tried the last one when I was dating this guy who was so ambiguous & hot and cold only to later realize that he was actually a dismissive avoidant and he just didn’t get it in by the end I Reacted so badly because I was furious that he didn’t carry on with the playfulness of “Are you still waiting for me to ask you on a date and he said ha ha are you inviting and I said no I have absolutely no intentions for that” meaning I was just expecting it from him and he just went silent. probably he was Not the right guy for me but I still regret to this day somehow that he just didn’t get it I was meaning the opposite and it was obvious, probably he just chose not to get it because he was not that interested.
You cant text someone something like that and expect them to get it or understand. A lot of misunderstandings happen through text messaging. You should have just agreed and said yes.

I guess in this instance you had enough. Next time don't entertain someone so hot and cold..tell them what you want (via calls) and if they can't deliver let it go.

If a guy does this he knows exactly what he's doing......... #1 waiting for 3 messages before his first reply or waiting 3 hours to answer you. #2 Only replying with 3 letters. (example.wyd, wya, wtf, omg, lol,) if a guy is really interested he make the effort to send you a fuckin paragraph with emoji's # 3 if he texts you at 3 am " what you wearing" or " you up?" He's not interested in you at all, he'll have his clothes back on and be out the door so fast your head would spin..... 😀

Just dropped a lady I was interested in because of her head games and seeming to always be too busy to make plans and spend time together. I quit calling her and a month later we ran into each other, and she was upset that I quit calling her. I told her I'm too old for your high school head games of stringing people along. If you are interested in somebody you will make time for them, and I don't like my time wasted. Told her to grow up and do what you say you are going to do.

Me for instance, am already experienced in dealing with people face to face and such, but when texting was introduced, it expanded my possibilities of communication. As with most things, you have to use things as tools and not immerse in them fully. Same thing with money, use money as a tool and not immerse yourself in it. Texting should never be a way of life and main form of communication...only a tool.

@@countesspuritania it depends...if that person is seeing a therapist, you can act with compassion and be supportive, provided that you want to wait until they get well and of course if they have asked you to do so. If they aren't seeing a therapist, you cannot replace a specialist's work. You can suggest that they ask for professional counselling, but other than that, I'm afraid there are not many things you can do. Each one is responsible for their own salvation and well-being, not you.

I had a guy who ONLY texted. He wasn’t a phone guy but when he said off the wall things, I just called him. He appreciated that. Things didn’t work out, I mean dude couldn’t even tell me how beautiful I was, & he said he didn’t know how or when to do that, so he doesn’t do it...even though he said I was attractive🙄 moral of the story, like I did this guy, sometimes just asking the dude “where is this going?” early on, can save you a lot of trouble. I also did that, and he basically said our careers didn’t Align. Can you imagine if I would’ve waited longer than three months to ask him that? We don’t have time to waste these days

Had the same problem. He told me he never called anybody even growing up in the 80s which is BS. I've seen him take a call from his children before but I guess they're the only exception. I used one of Matthew's text messages about how I would love to hear his voice but even that wasn't enough to get him to make a call. Even tried calling him myself only once but got no call back or no text saying sorry I missed your call (How rude). It gets boring to just text all the time. Sadly, I had to give him an ultimatum which I dislike doing. Thankfully, we didn't hang out that much so I wasn't too attached but still, I feel like I wasted my time. I ended up blocking the guy because I disliked the mixed signals.

I learned my lesson that texting is the worst type of communication. I make it clear to new people I meet that, I am not a texter and won’t engage in any lengthy conversation over text. I prefer to have a phone chat for 2 reasons: #1 I find texting is a huge waste of time (going back and forth with texts can take toooo long of my precious time), #2 it can lead to misunderstandings. Unless this is a short informative, practical message about time, address, etc. I don’t text.

I used to do the first, not to appear busy but to get back in an indirect way. He texted late, so even when I wasn't busy, I texted late. Eventually the vibe died. Happened a lot until I realized my toxic texting pattern and grew out of it. Y'all can too!

I downloaded the Momentum Texts after first watching this video. This video and those texts upped my game. I’m in serious relationship now with a guy I met online. When I asked him why we hit it off so well in the first place he said “ because I actually responded to his messages”. If I had played waiting games he may have moved on. I waited for him to initiate most of the time but always responded. We were both travelling at the time but met as soon as possible and the rest is history. Going strong 4 months in. He is away again and we text talk send photos memes flirt etc numerous times a day just for a quick connect. Fun. PS we are in our mid 60s. You can teach old dogs new tricks. Thank you Matthew

My gf and I texted everyday over lockdown. We helped each other through it all but there is no denying it really just become every day and mundane. Taking a breather is so important!
My GF of 11 years and me use texting constantly, sometimes next to each other. We go through rotational "phases" where we suddenly change our texting behavior. Such as.
- Emoji phase: Everything is communicated using emojis or stickers
- Face phase: we reply to everything with selfies communicating with just facial expressions
- Simpsons phase: reply using only simpsons quotes
- Title phase: using the link preview feature, communicate using only titles of articles or news.
- Audio phase: usually its the shortest lived one since sometimes we are on video conference or something that doesnt allow us to send each other audios.
- TH-cam phase: similar to title phase but you need to open the video to actually understand what the reply is.
We only do pure text replies when its something serious we need to set on writing, for example the list of meds to buy at the pharmacy.

It simply means he wasn't that interested. There's no rudeness in that comment. It was straight forward and to the point. If he wasn't ready for straight forward, I would go with the assumption he's more of a player type personality. He'll show interest when he wants it not when you want it.

Matthew's Tipps are actually valiable and not hard to bring into textmessages. I would even say you should try to adapt these tipps into your normal messages with friends and family because it gives you a little bit of originallity, which makes you more apealing to all the people in general, be it your friends, your family or a potencial partners. You do not have to adapt all of them, but what i am saying is that he got a point there an you should try it and see how it goes for you. It really is worth the try. The biggest problem our generation has is that for us love= anxiety. If people get someone easily and don't have to "suffer" for it, we don't get interested. That's why people play these mind games of not texting quick and pretending to not care and it creates this all cycle.

@@DiraMcClintock depends on who you're talking to, in my opinion. In business it's no question - be concise and professional. And even looking at the generation of the person you're talking to, people will view texting differently based on their exposure to cell phones growing up.
But in personal life? You can do more than just coordinate hangouts via text. This conversation we're having here, this could be a conversation in a text. It's also why we have emojis, can send pictures/reaction gifs/etc.

The losing momentum one got me. I actually happened to be busy cleaning and I was away from my phone for a few hours. The guy I'm into texted me one of those 'what's in front of me right now' photos. It was super cute that he was sharing that with me, but he must've felt that I didn't care or was ignoring him because by the time I saw his text and responded, all the momentum was lost and he didn't even reply to my response. :( And I didn't want to tell him that I had been busting my butt and sweating like crazy for fear of sounding unappealing and/or like I was making up some excuse, but in hindsight, I feel like I should've told him because then it might've not seemed like I was off doing better things and that his cute text was insignificant to me. I met a girl online, she is an English teacher. She wasn't sure when I asked her to hang out with me, but then she said okay for a coffee. then she started to delay the meeting, from one day to another. I felt like she tries to play "the hard to get", or she plays games. I said to her that I'm not interested anymore, I don't deal with games. she was furiously angry and overactive. She told me that she trusted me, and you accused me of games. (I don't know what she meant by trust). she unfriended me on Facebook, and I thanked her for that. what I want to say to women is that you don't need to play games in order to convince someone of worth, every person can sense the games from miles away. mature and high-value people don't deal with games. I would give a person some couple chances if they keep bullshiting me I have no time for such people. Just be authentic, be honest, and be a normal person.

I feel compelled to reference one of your own videos titled "Why My Dating Advice Is Dangerous for You". The tactic of "gracious impatience" might get the guy to change behavior temporarily, only to revert back to low investment later. In my experience, when there are red flags from the beginning, no amount of "gracious impatience" or other strategies is going to actually turn things around. It may, however, lead to you acquiring some temporary false hope and waisting your time. I've been following you for years Matt and I have to say I'm grateful to you for helping me get out of my shell and become more confident. However, you've also led me to waist time applying such tactics on the wrong guys.

The last guy i was talking to was one of those guys who expected me to do all the work when it came to seeing him. It was an hour drive from where I lived and I only visited him once. My job has been doing shutdowns since last September because we have been slow and then Covid-19 hit which has only made things worse. I had been struggling on keeping my bills current and so it was hard to justify spending extra on gas at the time. I told him I was unable to make it there and explained why. He put me on blast and called me selfish. When I asked him how he thought I was selfish by explaining why I was not able to follow through, he said I was only talking about myself constantly. I already feel awkward when people ask me to tell them about myself because I was in a past abusive relationship with a narcissist who gaslit me into thinking I was the problem in the relationship so naturally I don’t open up that quickly to people. Now I am paranoid about how it looks if I have to explain myself. How do you get past that?

If I just met the guy online & we’ve been clicking messaging a few times if he hasn’t asked me out then bye I’m moving on. Online dating sites are there to establish a connection text a few times establish a meeting that’s it. And if there’s a 2nd date same thing message a few times plan 2nd date if haven’t already and no false intimacy during dates with texting. The whole when to text back thing always causes issues. It usually takes me the whole day/hours to text back on a weekday as I have no service at work, so if they text during the day they would not get a reply until like 6pm when I get home
What happens when you tell them this
We are not even supposed to be on our phones at all at work, but I sneak off to the bathroom to send a quick message sometimes. I work 12 hours on midnights so I don’t text during the middle part of the day as I am asleep then. I also had to set up a do not disturb time on my phone so that people would not keep waking me up while I am trying to sleep. During the week it is really hard for me to stay in constant contact with people and even harder to call or send or receive voice messages (I work in a factory so it is loud out on the production floor and I cannot keep constantly running to the bathroom) a lot of guys don’t like this, but there is not a lot I can do about it. Work pays bills so it has to be the priority when I am there.

I just had a date yesterday. He started opening up about his recent breakup issues in life, hes very career oriented so not so much time to put in relationship.I Opened up about my choice to be pure until the night of my wedding, not into moving in or living together before marriage. He's not ready for something serious. That's not confusing it's just probably not what you wanted to hear. So you can either hang out with him and be basically friends with him knowing it probably won't go further for a while or ever, or you can put your energy into a different guy that actually is looking for something serious and go from there.

I kind of tried the last one when I was dating this guy who was so ambiguous & hot and cold only to later realize that he was actually a dismissive avoidant and he just didn’t get it in by the end I Reacted so badly because I was furious that he didn’t carry on with the playfulness of “Are you still waiting for me to ask you on a date and he said ha ha are you inviting and I said no I have absolutely no intentions for that” meaning I was just expecting it from him and he just went silent. probably he was Not the right guy for me but I still regret to this day somehow that he just didn’t get it I was meaning the opposite and it was obvious, probably he just chose not to get it because he was not that interested.
You cant text someone something like that and expect them to get it or understand. A lot of misunderstandings happen through text messaging. You should have just agreed and said yes.

Just dropped a lady I was interested in because of her head games and seeming to always be too busy to make plans and spend time together. I quit calling her and a month later we ran into each other, and she was upset that I quit calling her. I told her I'm too old for your high school head games of stringing people along. If you are interested in somebody you will make time for them, and I don't like my time wasted. Told her to grow up and do what you say you are going to do.
