When I was a kid, my favorite thing was to watch KITT drive fast, so this was one of my favorite episodes!
Trouble is though, a lot of TV channels seem to skip this episode when showing Knight Rider repeats.

WH Low- I first noticed that when I was a kid just because I watched the first episode, so many times.
I would see a scene from that episode & say "That was from the very first episode!..." while pointing at the TV.
Not the first time that happened in "A Nice, Indecent Little Town" they re-used the scene when KITT breaks Michael out jail. They even have Hasselhoff wear the same clothes in that episode. XD
They made sure they had a blonde to match tanya Walker in the pilot.

KITT is doing 100 MPH! Then he accelerates to the astonishing speed of 120 MPH!!! I mean, this is cool and all, but I'd be more impressed if KITT was doing speeds higher than what I could reach in my diesel-powered Ford Focus...I know this was made back in the 1980s, but even back then a half decent family hatchback could easily do 100+MPH...Why couldn't they have just shown KITT's speedo reading 250MPH or so? Not like that would have been difficult and they wouldn't have had to change anything else in the scene.

Big Patterson Yes - with the woman wearing a blonde wig solely to match that earlier footage. The editors didn’t do a great job in duplicating the negative reel of those shots from the pilot either; considering they were only 2 years old by this point. They stick out like a sore thumb, but that was “Knight Rider” for you...slapped together in nearly every department in terms of effort.

4:16 in the original NBC broadcast instead of this generic song that is playing on the portable stereo cassette recorder, Cindy was actually dancing to the Prince song *When Doves Cry* that I imagine you could find on the old Columbia House VHS releases of Knight Rider that they did back in the 1990s. When the series was released on DVD and later on Blu-ray, Universal was unable to secure the rights for a lot of the songs so that is why some scenes where a song was suppose to be playing has been replaced by either some generic-sounding song or complete silence.

I wouldn't have minded the footage from "Knight of the Phoenix" being reused (since they kept reusing stock footage anyway) if they'd just simply cropped those shots at 2:38 to avoid showing KITT's old dash when he has the new dash by this time. Plus I think this was the third time actors were dressed up specifically to match footage from a past episode. Season 1's "A Nice Indecent Little Town" reused footage from "Phoenix" where KITT breaks Michael out of jail, while Season 2's "A Knight in Shining Armor" reused footage from Season 1's "Chariot of Gold" where Michael uses the ejector seat.

They set up that whole dog and pony show at the end with the actors looking the way they did just to be able to recycle the ending of the pilot episode lol.
The scene at 2:38 must've been used for Knight Of The Phoenix before they cut it. I remember just seeing the speedometer but not the whole pilot voice box too

Interesting how this episode reuses footage of the plane from "Knight of the Phoenix" as Michael's in a weak state in both episodes. In "Phoenix", he'd been shot and here he's been drugged.
I've always assumed they had a much smaller budget for the episodes than for the pilot and couldn't afford to blow up a plane twice. They needed to be creative and either they figured the audience wouldn't notice or that people were big enough fans of the show to let it slide.
You can definitely see KITT’s original dash as they’re clipping the wing of the plane.
Vitals are strong - except the pilot who was blown to smithereens

No it was not. When Doves Cry was not played in the original, or any other, episode. Knight Rider never used original music - only cover songs (much cheaper) - so securing rights was not an issue.
I taped the original episode when it first aired on VHS and watched it on my VCR 150 times.

Season 4 episode knight song was actually a real song by new edition and guest stared them in the same episode also....
The author of knight rider companion book (nick nugent) while writing this book he had interviews with cast members of this show including glen Larson “the creator of the show”
And said this..
All songs in the pilot were the original artists including Take It Easy by The Eagles, Don't Stop by Fleetwood Mac, and Hit Me with Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar. Glen said he insisted on keeping all the original artists in the 2-hour (what was then a 2 hour) made for tv movie and opted to have covers if the pilot went to series. As He understand it from glen Larson said he received all the music clearances for the pilot.

Mexico to Los Angeles is a hell of a lot longer journey to make than Vegas to LA.

This was a terrible episode for so many reasons.
For a start, when Michael got poisoned, then K.I.T.T. set up the diversion for the plane and the cruise scenes kept switching in and out, K.I.T.T. was only just accelerating to 80 mph or so. This means he must have kept decelerating because you'd expect that speedometer to have higher and higher readings every time the scenes of him driving came back. Now baring in mind his partner and friend is on the verge of losing his life and K.I.T.T's sole function is to preserve it, why he's not even doing over 100 mph when his top speed is 300 mph is beyond me.
This scene should have had alot more intensity and drama to it than we saw here with K.I.T.T. casually cruising as Michael's condition is rapidly deteriorating. No application of pure oxygen in the car or anything.
We've scene K.I.T.T belt it in previous season episodes like Topaz Connection and Brothers Keeper, yet here it almost looks like he wants Michael to die or something.
And then dressing up villains just so the pilot episode scene could be reused is absolutely terrible. I'm sure it wouldn't have cost that much to make a new scene at an abandoned air strip somewhere or something.
Awful episode, I always skip it if binge watching the season.
Long Loss Puss, KITT's oxygen wouldn't have helped Michael. He had poison in his blood stream that required an anecdote given intravenously, along with oxygen set at a certain rate. Secondly, KITT wasn't cruising. He was moving at super speed. Keep in mind, the criminals were in a private jet, which moves at the speed of the latest new corvette, or challenger. On top of that, they already had a head start. Thirdly, Michael wanted to do just enough to slow them down, not kill them. Especially, since one of them had the anecdote for his friend. Yes, KITT is programmed to preserve human life, but Michael was still conscious enough, and able to still think reasonably and be strategic. As long as that was in place, KITT is also programmed to follow Michael's orders.
@@sharoneasley9717 Concentrated oxygen would have been better than nothing, albeit, accepted the poison was irreversible at that point.
And if you think 80 mph is super speed, then I take it people really have to drag you onto rollercoasters.
They were reusing cruise scenes, which is just terrible. K.I.T.T. should have been going at the pace seen in other episodes like Topaz Connection as I mentioned, instead it just looked like they were out on a leisurely cruise taking in the scenery. Speedometer never went above 80ish.
Terrible episode.
