Exactly. Came here from Obie Trice - Wanna Know (also on the soundtrack of the classic PS2 game, Fight Night Round 3). Can see why the sample was used - because the song is a banger!
Love the hammonds backing the riffs. Would be so cool if some new band used hammond organs. Doesn’t matter if it would be black, nu or core band. Hammonds go well with almost anything.
That freaking drum riff close to the end when they refrain "It couldn't be me" is so cool! What a great tune. No idea what it's actually about yet. Can't find the lyrics anywhere.
@aives65 - thanks, but by 'opposite now' i meant that todays bands are the opposite of original because if they really were, they tend not to sell well or get records deals. so many of those old classic bands would not get signed today. heck, many of them even flopped back then, but at least they were given chances by the labels back then. nowadays no. So unique bands now must do it themselves and try to find a small niche market of diehard fans online and try to make money on small tours.
Some critics have different views about this band. I still find their hammond-dominated hard rock as very tasteful althought i have to admit a clear British inluence. No psychedelic influence at all, psych heads stay away! X-ian band, but lyrics are not easy to extrapolate. From Detroit, the motor city :)
I think this has some psychedelic influence. Something in the vocal harmonies, the organ, and some of the leads sounds psychedelic, especially at the chorus. Then there are tracks like I Lost My Love and the Sorcerer of Isis that are obviously as much heavy psych and/or acid rock as they are hard rock.
@aives65 - well if you say so, but i cant stand the newer rock bands that try to do classic rock. they come off as only copying the most salient exaggerated elements of the classic groups, without the depth or originality or eccentricities they had. same thing with kravitz,crowes,hives,etc...really there is no way to go back and recreate the magic of the original bands. Back then it was VERY important for bands to not sound like others or copy them...it was all about originality. opposite now.
@RockOfAges94 yea you heard the obie trice since they wanna know. which samples this song and the line all i want is whats mine i dont care who i hurt. song isnt bad actually. but you know the original is always the best
Also it was about that age I started getting into it dude there is solo much good stuff out there also I have a playlist of all these obscure and some not early 70s heavy rock love to send it ya
It’s always really sickening when the c(rap) “music” listeners have to come around and ruin real music after one of their favorite c(rappers) c(rapped) all over it
I can't find them anywhere.😢 BEST GUESS on the words I can make out; "All I want is what's mine I don't care who I hurt. People I meet that you'd better not see... Tween' (between) right and wrong.... I know what's right and someday I hope I never seem to go on. But right now I know somebody's puttin' me on and it couldn't be me." "I went south to the middle of the right??? (Really not sure) Let there be a little light in this dark night." And it couldn't be me. (Repeat) *-Badass drum groove here-* ... That's all I got so far. Lol. Thoughts?
@hotapplepie2009 - do you mean the canadian band with the male+female vocals? if so, again their songs sound too generic and modern to me, like the crowes, kravitz, etc just playing retro instruments, wearing retro clothes and hair will not do it. too many of these retro bands go for the retro image but the music doesnt deliver. For instance see the movie Almost Famous...thats a perfect example of a modern generic version of dime a dozen 3rd tier 70s rock band. in other words nothing special
This is why I love samples cause then you get to dig and find great music you would have never heard of.
Obie Trice

It's friggin' badass.
If 1970 Black Sabbath picked up Deep Purple’s Jon Lord and they relocated to Detroit, it would sound like this.
These drums are sick.
