She’s such a pro. Answering questions on Nightwish stuff and she didn’t even look annoyed once. That’s why I adore her. She’s an amazing talent and such a lovely person! 🤍🤍🤍
@@markusnashorn1145 Well if I was the leadman of a stadium tier band and the players wouldnt even present the backup to me in detail I would be pissed too. Of course if she would have been asked and said "no" she should have been kicked out. It's not that simple on this level of things
I’m in absolute agreement with you on this one. She was absolutely wonderful. She gave it all her hart and soul and you could feel that in her voice. Listening to her got me through some sad times in my life . Wonderful woman.
I am disappointed the person who was interviewing her wasn't focusing on her solo career as much but I am very happy to see and already knew how good of a person Anette is. To be honest and say "yes I was sad, angry but I am learning to deal" is amazing. Her album is amazing and she looks great and very happy
I was never a fan of Anette and Nightwish together, but I don't agree with how they threw her out. No one deserves that kind of treatment. She seems like a very nice person and like grownups, they could have sat down and simply tell her, she is not a fit for their band anymore. There are always better ways to resolve an issue.
@@bmay81 From what i've gathered; they both ended up developing diva complexes, which really didn't sit well with the band and made everything difficult.
@@GizmosMonster in every separation there are problems from both sides. Considering how they treated both singers and it became public that they treated her badly i think the problem runs in the band. It obviously fixed with Floor or at least for now and i hope she will stay with them but i do have the feeling that Tuomas is not as an angel as he wants to showcase and bitch about Annette and Tarja
Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum to me are among Nightwish's best albums and The Poet and the Pendulum might just be one of the best compositions ever and Anette contributed to that by a lot, she has a lot to be proud of. It's sad that people tend to pick sides, maybe both sides have their issues. Anette obviously seems to be way happier where she is now with The Dark Element (which produced a great album!) and Nightwish seem to be doing better than ever. A good spirit for everybody should always be the way to go!
Not according to album sales they aren't. The floor buzz and the Waken 13 blueray did very well but her her albums aren't selling in the volumes of Annette's. I suspect Annette has more mainstream appeal where Floor is more appricated by the hardcore.
For everyone curious about the real story about how her termination happened, I think there are some details we will never hear from both sides but as a fan of this band I figure for those who don't know the gist of the story I'll just share it here. I say this as a fan of of all 3 singers the band Nightwish has had and I'm not going to attack anyone, just share what I've observed and try to give a peaceful closing to this: 1. There was a point in time she was very ill and feeling unable to perform. She has stated in another interview that Tuomas approached her and requested her thoughts on allowing Floor Jansen to replace her if she were ever unable to perform, due to illness or other issues so they can continue. He was respectful in that, he asked her permission and she blatantly said No to this request. Now, for all true nightwish fans, I expect you to be conflicted in his choice to move forward, most of you who are Floor fans probably think it was justified to continue without her permission but its still rude , regardless of how you feel about her singing personally. I think Tuomas was trying to do the best with a bad situation but you can see how that left a sour taste in Anette's mouth. Clearly, there's more to the story we won't see but yes, this is really how the whole issue with Floor began since they made no mention to Anette that they were doing the gig without her while she was ill and replaced. 2. Yes, its true things were strained between her getting her own bus for her and her son but can you blame her? Perhaps she was just trying to look out for her child, its understandable. Though this is hardly the main issue. While pregnant she had some trouble, maybe moodiness but that is to be expected, I dont think anything related to her pregnancy should be used against her as some have assumed incorrectly. We should act like adults about the matter and not let the past, good or bad, define who are to become at present, I think many people cannot let the past stay the past behind and still rag on Anette or even Floor for not being the same as Tarja (who is much happier now that she's doing her own work) and Anette is much the same now doing music as part of 'The Dark Element' and other projects. As true Nightwish fans, Tarja fans, Anette fans, we should recognize there's probably a good deal more to this story that we can't possibly know of how things went down within a band as big as Nightwish. We can however choose to cherish the past, even if it didn't highlight the best vocal and personality traits of each singer as it should have (their solo projects can highlight that pretty well). At the end of the day, this journey is what we make of it and I hope everyone with the patience to read all of this can move on peacefully from her departure and appreciate her in her new band 'The Dark Element' where can better give her full range of talent and be happy again.
The replacement is never going to be as loved as the original.... she was always going to be swimming against the tide...... but it's not right to rag on her she dis het best and sang well tho the new direction the band took....I love floor more than taraja, but that's my taste.... agree whole heartedly with you....good luck g to all of them and thank you for your role in our favourite band
Night wish are the true backstabbers. Name me 10 bands where the singer got sick and the band found a temporary singer!!! In other words let me dumb it down, nightwish didn't show loyalty to her and standing by her. shove that up all you whiners and dont say my cousins band played at a birthday party and they had a replacement singer
Always liked Anette she brought her own style to Nightwish . many people were so unfair to her. Its nice that she is in a good place now after being treated so badly by the band . Many XXXXXXXXX for Anette.
Treated so badly by the band....lol. Anette wrote a huge blog slamming the band. In that blog for using the camelot girls last minute when she left with 1000 fans in the arena, she stated "If Rhianna was sick, you would not see Britney spears filling in for her". Sorry Anette, you are not Rhianna. When Tom Araya got sick, him and Slayer were fine to let newsted fill in for him. Her profanity laced blog was the biggest reason for her dismissal. The nail in the coffin
firestorbucket Opinions are like A$$Holes everyone's got one I see both points maybe she could've handled things differently.. but hindsight is 50/50 Some are cool with a Stand in others are not it's Also been said she was threatened by Floor's potential And that to DOES Happen in that kind of business I like all 3 Female Vocalists they all bring something different but everyone says something out of line at some point when they are pissed off I'm sure all of you have done it atleast once in your lives and I can admit I have to.
Contrary to what many people say, I loved Anette(love Tarja and Floor as well!!) in Nightwish...she had some pretty big shoes to fill. I also wish more time was spent on talking about her new project. It's wonderful as well!
its only right that she is proud on her albums with NW .... because DPP and Imaginaerum are two extraordinary albums...DPP was hit album and Imaginaerum just epic story album.
Anette seems so sweet. When Tarja left, I thought maybe the stories were true and she was a diva etc. but now the same thing with Anette makes you wonder about Tuomas and whether he wasn't just the problem all along. I hope he appreciates what he has with Floor now because eventually he'll run out of beautiful talented women to use in his band.
All I have to do is watch the live shows. Small things on stage will tell you how the band is doing on a personal level. Now that floor is here (Pre-pandemic) you can see the WHOLE band is happy at where they are and who is in the band. Tuomas has always been the leader and the main writer in the band. He is a total professional and he knows what he wants to hear over the music... it;s Floor.
I'm not a blindy fanboy of anyone of the 3 vocalist Nightwish have had so far, I support the band as whole. Yes, Anette was not a Tarja's style of vocalist, but for christ sake, the 2 albums with Anette are musicly freakin aweseome, and sound very good, they are masterpieces, can't deny that. We have to give credits to Anette because these 2 albums are good. And I hope the next one with Floor is as good as the others, really. None of them (Tarja, Anette, Floor) are bad singers, and they gave (1 is about to give) to the music of Nightwish the perfect voice at the time. Backstage stuff is another subject, if Tarja married a male version of Yoko Ono creating conflicts between the group, and if Tuomas and the rest of the guys made a bad call about that concert when Anette was sick and played with kamelot singers, taking decitions after the gig with the mind hot, is their problem and one day they will see things clearly and tell themselves what they did wrong. All of them have made mistakes, the important thing is that Nightwish has to coexist, music needs Nightwish, and whoever is in the band right now, needs to be supported
Anette Olzon, for me, is equal to Floor and Tarja... They're all Excellent choices of Nightwish... There is no question of who's better and best; they simply have their own style... Best, better, etc. are all personal concept, and sometimes biased.
Nightwish became iconic with Tarja, and Nightwish had their best ways with Anette. I mean their best songs were written for Anette, their best selling album was with Anette, Amaranth has over 100m views and oh that is with Anette too.
@@fullmetalalchemist4562 That's because they reached their peak with "Once", that's when they became worldwide famous, so obviously the next album would sell really well, specially after all that controversy, it was not because of Anette. Also, DPP was composed before choosing the new singer... Don't get me wrong, Anette seems nice, but she didn't fit with a band like Nightwish, not so much because of her voice, but because of the dimension of the band. She didn't have the mentality to join such a big band with so much fame, at a such delicate time... it's too much pressure. She also didn't seem to have the vocal technique and training to endure almost two hour long shows on their long tours. In my opinion, that's why her voice sounded so bad live. Ultimately, I really think it was her performance on live shows that made the guys fire her... They just used the first excuse they could to get someone new.
She is pure class and I love her work in The Dark Element - the music is well suited for her voice and vice versa. The Nightwish "battles" need to stop. They have the perfect fit now and their former singers have found great places to share their impressive talents with us!
She is so beautiful and sooo kind! I really love her voice and her albums are amazing.. she has a different energy.. i still listen to her nw songs and her new songs in the new band! Love u so much dear Olzon! 🖤
It's easy to notice on her gestures that she went through a lot things during those 5 years while in the band. That's astonishing she joined Nightwish for 7 years and now she's away. I mean look at her, then watch one of the first FaceCulture interviews with her.
She's such a sweet person, it's nice to see her in such a happy mood now, I feel like her large touring schedule and everything from Nightwish was a big strain on her. The attitude people say she had back in Nightwish was probably brought on by all the stress of touring, family, and some hostile fans. It's good she's found her place :) I'm happy for her :)
This is very mature of her to say... The sitting down and saying goodbye. Tuomas has always seen for me as a very weird type of "professional" performer. I mean, two albums, great sales... And not even a thank you? Wow. And this is coming from a fan of the band since Tarja
I totally get her with the whole closure thing. I personally hate it when a former-friend and I leave on a bad note. I understand that not every person can be compatible with another, but it shows mutual respect and humility to try to mend a burning bridge before you cross it to the other side, in the event that later down the road you'll come into contact again, it won't be with animosity in your hearts.
I think her new music is absolutely fantastic but I hope one day she meets up with some of the guys and they can remember the fantastic times and all the fun and beautiful music they all made together. Not many of the original folk left in the band now unfortunately. As for Dark Passion Play ? An absolute superb album she is right to be massively proud of. Looking forward to all the great music that’s coming from this beautiful artist. Annette you lady are a star.
Çerastes perhaps. doesnt mean i cant like her tho:) also its not just about the band to me its about the ppl in it and i just really liked anettes light-hearted, fun personality, not just her vocals. but hey - different opinions
Çerastes yeah. i think she had a hard time with the long touring periods and shows and didn't always have the capacity to sing those songs well. tho i do think she improved over time singing the old songs.
Way late to the game, but the interviewer didn't ask any questions about Anette's new gigs, didn't mention any of those songs, and only focused on the Nightwish break-up. I still say no one sings Scaretale better than Anette.
I kinda believe that all the hate she got from the fans had an influence on her being fired 'cause Tuomas said that they picked Floor 'cause she was respected by people. Anyhow it's kinda sad. Second singer fired in a row. That makes you think, right?
I’ve always felt Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerium are two of the best albums from NW, thanks in no small part to Annette, and she shows herself to be restrained, diplomatic and open in not allowing herself to be drawn down the route the interviewer is trying to lead her here. She is way above that, very different to Tarja’s “woe is me” interview after Nightwish. They are a great band and it’s such a shame that they treat their female vocalists like shit; I have seen the comments here that it all comes from Tuomas, but really, that’s just BS, they are a collective. I hope they don’t do the same with Floor, but I’m not hopeful. And I agree with an earlier comment too, Annette singing “Eva” is awesome
She is a wonderful and cute person. She's got nice voice, I don't understand how can ppl do not like such a nice lady and try to seek for any flaw and make rumors. Just look at her in amaranth, she's very pretty and now no changes, she's cool... Guys who do not like her, keep your opinions with you please.
It's not that people don't like her, people don't like her voice, which is different. She does seem like a pretty sweet person, but she doesn't belong in a metal band, that's all.
just listen to bye bye beautiful...the song fucking rocks only because of Marco when she sings i want to fucking murder her and particularly in this song!Of all the songs that she did i like storytime very much but only that although floors version is better.sure the band while she was there made many great songs like amaranth bye bye beautiful storytime and the islander but the reason why the band was good in this period is not anette.either marco is astonishing(bye bye beautiful islander)or the songs that she actually is the only singer are worse that when they are sang by floor( amaranth storytime)
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE LAST 3 COMMENTS.... =) NIGHTWISH IS JUST AWESOME, BUT TUOMAS HASN'T REALLY SHOWED MUCH RESPECT FOR TARJA NEITHER ANNETE... I HOPE FLOOR DOESN'T END UP LIKE THEM =(
Look who will remember Tarja's new song after she left Nightwish, up to now, everybody wants to listen old nightwish old songs....Tuomas is doing the best for his fans and is brilliant....
Anette is great, personally I felt some of the songs that were arranged with Tarja in mind were not so fitting to Annette's style and timbre, but she did really good at giving her own stamp on the material. The songs made for and with Anette such as Amaranth, were really great and took the band into new directions. To fill into Tarja's shoes was always going to be a difficult task because of the expectations of fans, but Anette won over at least 50% and that is an incredible achievement. Floor Jansen is acting in between kind of bringing both worlds together with the rock and classical. I am happy to hear Anette is in a good place and I must say that having witnessed the band fire 2 of its leading vocalists and not stay in contact or solve unresolved issues really does not look good on the band overall, even though musically they are amazing. I am a NW fan myself and it's painful to see all this drama. I think Tuomas could have handled things better overall. I am sure there are many reasons and things are not black and white and people in general mess up because of not knowing how to do the right thing, not necessarily as a result of trying to be bad. All the best for Anette and thank you for the 2 albums and tours! In hindsight I'm glad NW as a band has albums that sound different from Tarja to Anette and to Floor! Keeps things fresh! I just hope no more drama and people able to make decisions peacefully together.
She's an amazing talent, and an amazing singer. One of 3 very special female vocalists who have sang for Nightwish. Each with a very different sound. All brilliant in their own right. And I consider it a privilege to have been around at the same time they all have, especially with regards to the band itself. I love Anette, and she's the one who I would love to meet the most out of all of them. Yes it's a shame how things ended with them and Anette, and it was dreadful what the so called fans did to her. But as of 2024 she's done more than enough to prove she's as good as anyone else out there! You can be biased or delusional, but in reality there's no doubting her talent.
Markus Nashorn Tuomas and the rest of Nightwish thought she was a good fit otherwise they wouldn’t have chosen her. Your opinion doesn’t matter to me. They have two amazing albums because of Anette.
She is really cute and sweet all the three singers of nightwish have a similar character, also floor the latest, however anette seems the most sweet of them :)
I fell in love with Nightwish with Anette as lead throat. I never really cared for Tarja Turunen, although she has grown on me since I began listening to the band, I always felt she was a bit to operetic for my taste. I can understand Anette's frustration with having Floor Jansen come in as a temporary replacement, and the fear that she would replace her, Floor has an amazing stage presence, and is a nice blend of Tarja and Annette's styles. I love Anette's voice, I wish her well in her solo career, and I will most certainly be listening. There will always be the music.
I am one of the divided people. I was shocked when they hired her, as I'm a hardcore Tarja fan. But I never hated her, she got chosen, it's not like Tarja got fired because of her! I just think her voice didn't suit my expectations with the band. I love dark passion play and imaginaerium, they are very different from the previous albums! I love floor and I think the is the middle ground they needed. It's the same as within temptation, when they changed how they sound, I was very sad, but now that I'm older I just appreciate it as the talent they have! Anette is a good singer, the problem is that they kept writing music that would fit the classical Tarja singing, and Anette has no training in that department! Stop the hate against them! They did the best they could, specially Anette, she got balls to "replace" such an iconic diva. Hands down to her ❤
Full marks to Anette for being well-adjusted after an obviously difficult situation. It is a pity that she didn't give permission to use any footage of her in the '48 hours to learn the lyrics' documentary, as it makes it one of those strange documentaries with a very obvious gap in it. It does seem like now everyone has got a bit of perspective that could be revisited and make a much more complete piece. Maybe one day... It seems to me (as a complete outsider) that all the people involved are decent human beings, but being in a band (especially touring) often results in personal tensions, which sometimes result in splits, and personnel changes are always difficult to handle well (although many bands manage better than Nightwish has :-) . I reckon they did better the second time than the 1st time... The intense interest of the fanbase amplifies any negativity, so whatever you do there are going to be a load of haters. It must be a hell of a job when you come in as the new singer, knowing just how rude loads of people are being about you on the net. Anyway thanks for a thoughtful interview.
***** I really doubt that. When you listen to both Tarja and Anette talk about the band. You can still hear Tarja being kind of spiteful and talking shit about the band, whereas Anette has a very good attitude. The whole deal with Tarja felt more mean spirited on both sides.
Toveri Juri Tarja was fired through an open letter on the basis of "sorry, you're too much of a bitch now", that's bound to make someone more spiteful than "sorry, we have to continue the tour but you obviously can't so we have to let you go".
Toveri Juri Difference in personalities I guess. I would be more pissed upon being basically called a bitch for everybody to see than being told that they can't go on without me due to health issues. Plus given that those health issues were because of a pregnancy, it was partly Annette's fault too, I mean who the hell gets pregnant when they're touring? Not very professional.
Kysfallen But you can't really call getting pregnant unprofessional. It can happen, even if you don't expect it. (I also remember Within Temptation postponing their european tour for The Unforgiving because they discovered that Sharon was pregnant.) So if it happens, you've got to find a solution (a temporary replacement or postponing, or whatever). Nightwish and Anette weren't able to find a solution, so Anette had to go. But to be honest, I can understand Anette not being fond of idead of being replaced by Floor, given how beloved Floor is and what hard stand Anette had. So her rejection wasn't professional but I can understand her.
There was a problem, to begin with, with making Anette sing songs penned for a singer with a far higher voice pitch, Tarja. It was unfair for her; then eventually they sought someone trained in opera and able to sing well those songs, Floor Jansen.
Lovely women etc but having seen Nightwish many many times since 2001, I never enjoyed her singing with them live. She struggled, was out of tune a lot and just didn't seem comfortable plus Toumas's decision to ditch many of the classics (because Anette couldn't sing them) obviously told it's own story. I wish her all the best but personally I think the band have now found the right singer. It will be 10yrs next year since Tarja left, again a move they had to make but roll on with the new album with Floor Jansen who has everything a rock band could wish for
Aled Kelly What the fuck are you talking about, she did so many great shows with them (and some bad probably, but no one is on top of his game all the time) and she was great with old songs as well. That she is not an opera singer and therefore was not singing them the way Tarja did does not mean she could not sing the old ones. As for "ditching" the classics, well, at that point NW had two albums with Anette full of great new songs, so it is only right they were playing many of them and not making a show full of fifteen old and older songs. Life goes on you know? As for Floor, she is not a bad singer either, but her style seems to be more of a shouting. I definitely prefer Anette to her.
Lyubo Talev I agree with you here. All the Tarja talk with regards to NW is so old and over-done. Give it a fucking rest. I mean for that reason alone I'd give Anette kudos. Intolerable idiots. Fact is, Tarja made NW epic for the first several albums, but, Once came out and all the sudden the music matched Tarja's epicness. If you notice Tarja was pushed back in the mix on that album. The relationship had run it's course. She was leaving anyway. I love Tarja and I love Anette just as much for different reasons. DPP and Imaginaerum are as good as any album Tarja sang on. Floor is awesome and more metal than any of the guys in the band in my opinion. But, at the same time, I miss Anette in NW. If anybody still wants to lament the loss of Tarja in NW, then go to one of their new videos featuring Floor and do it. Bet you won't.
I fell in love with Nightwish when Tarja was their lead singer. To me, she was the true power of their music. Naturally the rest of the band are amazing too, but I've never loved Nightwish the way I loved them with Tarja. Anette did very well in the studio, Dark Passion Play was pretty good, but unfortunately she didn't fit into the Nightwish style, and certainly didn't live up anything close to Tarja. Floor seems very good, hopefully she'll grow very well into the band given some time. While nobody can live up to Tarja and the synergy that was within the band in those years, I think Floor is a good replacement. I'm happy with her. Still, I keep imagining what it would be like if Tarja did a comeback or even a guest appearance. Also, concidering the amount of drama and unsolved issues with the band and Anette + Tarja(and partly the guitarist back in the day), it seems to me that Tuomas is an issue. I mean, atleast discuss problems you have with the lead singer within the band, and not suddenly kick them out. However, I think it's admirable how he takes decisions of this degree apparently quite easily, makes it seem like he's overprotective of the band and its path, rather than personal situations within the band. I don't know, it's all speculation and I don't know all the facts, but there's clearly an issue here and I hope they have sorted it out by now. I hope Floor gets to stay.
Also, it says something about Tarja when almost 10 years later you can very easily find people like me in the youtube comments bitching about her departure. I'm over it, but I'll never forget it and I strongly disagree with their decision.
She seems very sweet and the stories I've read about her departure from Nightwish don't sound very inspiring. This situation makes me rethink the bands choice of firing Tarja even though it was obviously for different reasons. I find it hard to swallow how passionate their music can be but yet the band members have proven to be so cold to their singers. Well I dont have all the facts but everything Ive heard from both sides from both singers doesn't sound good. This is all very disappointing.
Well, the thing with Tarja was that she became too much of a diva. This is actually true, because when the band was here in MA the concert was delayed for a good half hour because Tarja, apparently, threw a bitchfit, refusing to perform until the concert in the room above them ended. Her reasoning was that she wanted to hear the fullness of her voice without any interfering sounds. Also, according to the open letter, she told Tuomas on tour that she didn't need Nightwish anymore and she was planning on leaving after their next album, anyway.
RCDeschene I'm aware of the situation of Tarja but I'm also aware that some of the so called facts about the situation are also rumors. However, how the band handled the firing of Anette as I stated still makes me question the bands choice of firing Tarja, sorry but some of the statements you have said dont exactly line up with the research I've done about what happened. Why would none of the fellow band members go visit Anette when she was in the hospital? What could be so important that they could not visit with her even if it were for only a few min? I'm wondering just how long Floor is going to last with them.
RCDeschene I appreciate your running to the bands defense but I can do my own research just fine and I've already formulated my conclusion about the band and their singers.
shawn lopez I'm actually not defending anyone. Tuomas is clearly a drama queen, Tarja is without a doubt a diva, and Anette takes things the wrong way.
It's clear that what causes these breaks is stress. If the camaraderie of the band is tense and not carefree, things will fall apart. There is often a tendencies of fans to focus on a female lead, and that can create tension. I don't think it's anyone's fault, but I can see if you made and played a band and someone else was getting the attention, a power struggle of some sort would ensue. Just like with Tarja, IIRC rumors that her husband wanted her to go solo were already floating around. This is dangerous for a band, we all know bands like Police, Destiny's Child, No Doubt, etc. Name 20 more easily, that became just the lead singer. That said, I think each could have been handled differently. I'd rather just hire an additional person to fill in without firing the first, just to mix up the focus. Band dynamics, any group dynamic is hard to hold together. I mean, we all know in the Beatles, the details of Stuart Sutcliffe and Lennon, and the managers wanting rid of Pete Best. It's not unique to Nightwish, it's common because there is so much stress and so many influences. I think I'd want for my band one person who was glue, who could pull people back together. I think that might be the magic that's needed.
She seems like a really cool person. I love Nightwish but I think they handled the "break ups" with the Tarja and Annette like high school kids. I wish they weren't so weird about saying what the problems were. I think that the Tarja and Annette deserve better than the way they were done. I don't know, maybe they all collectively know why but the fans are left in the dark sort of. Floor is awesome though. Glad to have her at the helm.
I grew up listening to nightwish, the first song I listened to was Amaranth and fell in love with the band, especially after hearing Dark Passion Play so it's taking time to adjust.
I hate people who claim that band politics don't concern us and we should just concentrate on the music. Because thats like saying if a murderer made some music its ok to like it and buy his music even though you are then supporting and giving him money. So if Nightwish is being cruel and treating singers like shit they do not deserve the money and loyalty.
***** "Have you never had a falling out with someone at school/work and broken off a (working) relationship under less than amicable circumstances?" I'm sure most everyone has. The question is how many people who do so, go and take out a full page ad in the local newspaper airing all the details of that relationship for the whole world to see? That's the equivalent of what tuomas did with his "open letter" posted on the internet. Sure people have disagreements and sometimes people have to part ways, but doing so by firing someone in an open letter posted on the internet airing all the dirty laundry is totally uncalled for and it shows tuomas to be a true scumbag. It also calls into question his motives for doing it that way and questions the credibility of the claims made against Tarja. It's got publicity stunt and hype written all over it. If that wasn't enough, the songs Bye Bye beautiful and master passion greed further question the credibility and suggest it was all a stunt to sell the new album. " Would you like the outside world to judge you as a person on those two break-ups years" Fair or not, people judge you by your actions. That's especially true when they see a reoccurring pattern of behavior. It's got to be more than coincidence that everyone who gets fired from this band does so in a very public and dramatic way. It suggests that it's not by accident and that it may be calculated and done to generate hype and drama in the media.
+Stefan L I agree completely. She seems very nice and should have been treated in a more dignified manner. Makes you wonder if Tarja was really as bad as they say she was because Annette is very sweet
+ForzaTerra89 Well they were fired for two completely different reasons, and Nightwish never said anything bad about Anette's personality during the split. Tarja was pretty much fired for allegedly being a complete bitch, Anette was only fired because they felt her insecurities and attitude towards things as a result of them would be a problem for the band.
***** "The departures were perhaps un-pr-friendly but saying they treat their singers like shit is somewhat overstating and dramatizing the case." I don't agree at all. Take a look at the video "Ataque de Tarja" watch?v=3bj4h1807kY Watch as a guy comes on stage takes tarja down onto the floor and sexually assaults her. Now, what did her band mates do to help her? Absolutely Nothing! In fact they simply kept playing on and on and on. They never stopped playing until the end of the song. The bass player even has to step around her and her attacker down on the floor and he does and keeps on playing like nothing is happening and so does everybody else. The person who run on stage and pull the guy off of her is Marcelo Cabuli. This is the man who would later become her manager and finally her husband. They are happily married today and have a beautiful baby girl, Naomi. Anyway, at the time of this incident, she had just met him 9 days earlier. This shows how the band treated her. Marcelo would later be demonized by the band because as Tarja manager and husband, he stood up for her and her interest. You've only heard one side of the story in the open letter, tell all book, and hateful vindictive songs. There's another side and that side shows us a group who takes advantage of and uses the female vocalist and then throws them under the bus whenever it's convenient to create huge drama plays in the media which generates hype and publicity that benefits them in albums sells. Think about the whole "open letter" dismissal, The one sided book, the album Dark passion play and how it's all tied together so neatly. How many bands fire their vocalist in open letters on the net? How many of then write an album with hateful vindictive songs about their former vocalist and her husband? Think about what the purpose pf all this would be? To cash in, that's the answer. What you may or may not know, is Tarja ask to leave the band in a private meeting in Dec 2004. At that time she agreed to stay on until the end of the next album and tour to promote that album. She did this as a favor to her band mates. She also agreed to keep this private. Her band mates agreed to this to her face but behind her back immediately hatched their scheme. By showing them these considerations, she made herself vulnerable and enabled them to use her in this way to create their little drama play. Now, think about it is that the actions of a bitchy diva?
A group hug? I think everyone would want to see that...I liked Dark Passion Play and Imaginarium. Anette is in a hard position between 2 vocalists in the history of Nightwish.
Tuomas is a psychic vampire who gets his inspiration from "new blood". As soon as Floor's synergy with the guys is over, she too will be dispatched. I saw the very long featurette from the 2003 DVD concert (before Marco) and it was an it gave quite an insight in the personality of Tuomas, who has an extremely close friendship with the drummer. I also began reading the book "Nightwish" when it was first published (that is how pathetic I was in my passion for NW), which opens with this very public letter to Tarja. I agree with what some of the others have said,"He is the drama queen" and Tarja was not the first band member who was dispatched by Tuomas without him ever even meeting with him. He was lucky to get Marco or else the band would have been over. For somebody who claims to be so very shy, he surely screams for attention and does not give credit to anybody's else but himself. My last purchased DVD was Dark Passion Play. The studio version of the songs works best for Anette, particularly since the other albums were primarily written in cooperation with Tarja and therefore Anette could not possibly pull it off live for such a length of time not having had the same vocal training. As I lean toward symphonic gothic metal I preferred Tarja, but I do not see Tarja being able to do as well in mainstream pop as Anette may be able to. I like Floor since her days with From Forever (I think it was the name of the band) and she can have an operatic voice if she wanted to, though she leans towards the heavy rock, which is exactly what Marco and Tuomas have been wanting to do and talk about for a while now. I shall not spend one cent of my money on people who treat women, regardless of whatever their faults may be, with such cowardice and humiliate them publicly. I can only hope that their contracts provide for royalty. I know Tarja has (in the words of another writer a Yoko Ono for a husband, so I bet she will not stand down, and I wish Anette the best). I will not listen to Floor either, as she did not even seem in the least concerned about Anette's health. I guess they are all about money after all. And when you actually read the lyrics of most songs, they are not even that deep. The lyrics from Tristania (w/Vebeke) and Amy Lee of Evanescence are much more poetic, even the old Theatre of Tragedy wrote in poetry at the times of Liv Kristin; and so many other bands are out there who are still together: Epica, Within Temptation, Sirenia, too many to mention,,, Support other female fronted bands… Forget NW, they are bad news. I have all their DVDs still from the old days, before their success went to their heads and made them greedy and crass. "Bye Bye beautiful" was another clue of how mean was Tuomas heart.
I'm a newb Nightwish fan. Bought all the studio albums, but saved the two with Anette for last. I was afraid of hearing Nightwish without an operatic voice. Big surprise: they turn out to be my favorite albums. 😱😱
thats because the first 5 albums with Tarja have her true vocal power so muted...try LIVE performances "from wishes to eternity" concert , end of era concert, the 2002 from summerbreeze festival, 2003 from Raumenmeri, just to name a few...a far more impactful experience
Although she left Nightwish, but her life is still too good, finally I know the reason why she left Nightwish, in my opinion, although Nightwish's performance is very good, the songs are good, but the members of the band is the heart of stone, extremely cold. In order to show that despite the singer's health, most people can not understand is actually temporary looking for a singer to replace her, this is not a show, this is drive a duck onto a perch. In my opinion, every song composed by Nightwish are at the expense of members of the health, really chilling
I'm gonna be honest when Tarja Turunen was fired i was mad and hated Anette O because she sang Tarja's songs but when i got to hear Anette's songs made me Love her and new Nightwish
Very sympathetic lady, Nigthwish as a band has a very big success, but something is missing, I call it personal relations, its not possible to kick people out , like garbage, especially since it's not the first time! Especially when afterwards Tarja turunen followed, which it's really a shame...
Tarja's classical voice was about the contrast that it created, and her voice fitted the epic nature of their music. It's symphonic metal after all. Define "too much" because what I love about Floor is that like Tarja her voice has the power to match Tuomas' epic music, and actually I felt that Anette was "not enough", lol.
you know a person's taste for a bands lead singer can be compared to a person's favorite doctor in Doctor Who. It all depends on who you hear first. I have heard all three of these fine ladies. They have their own sound and style and each one brought something original to the band. Why worry about who sings the best, as long as the band sounds great. Besides it is not up to us to find the singer...that is up to the band and if they felt that this person or the other is the best fit then don't question it.
Floor will be fires as soon as she become the more popular one in Nightwish, that's what Toumas does! When it happens I wish Tarja,Anette and Floor become a band
@@bastgta as he said, and I quote "Well I did(wrote a open letter to Tarja) that because I am a face of the band..." . HE DOES NOT like to be outshined point blank. As soon as fans started to accept Annette and portray her as the NIGHTWISH she got kicked out.
5 years later, still not proven, same for Tarja, 15 years later, still not proven. Both have been way less successfull on their own since, and NW keeps on trucking along. ( Ps, It would be the same with Floor)
***** I still don't agree. I was not talking about the other 3 boys, ofcourse without them Nightwish would be nothing. But I just don't agree that Tuomas would be the problem. Tarja didn't talk for a year to the boys before she kicked out. Jukka, Emppu, Marco and Tuomas decided al together to fire Tarja. It was never only Tuomas' dicision.
Those guys used up their female singers one too many. And all got fired by the same principle. Now every new woman that is to come into NW must know that they are dickheads.
she is so professional about Nightwish. So disrespectful of the guys that they didn't even talk to her from the last concert. And all of the hate she received, it's ridiculous. She didn't do anything wrong, Tuomas chose her and then he fired her in a very bad manner. I hope they will not do the same with Floor one day.
She’s such a pro. Answering questions on Nightwish stuff and she didn’t even look annoyed once. That’s why I adore her. She’s an amazing talent and such a lovely person! 🤍🤍🤍
She is
She is a classy lady, she handled the uncomfortable questions about her departure professionally.
Unlike Tuomas who seems like hes sitting on a sword when asked about these things
Yes she definitely is... she has a nice attitude that reveals a beautiful soul.
@@markusnashorn1145 Well if I was the leadman of a stadium tier band and the players wouldnt even present the backup to me in detail I would be pissed too. Of course if she would have been asked and said "no" she should have been kicked out. It's not that simple on this level of things
@@markusnashorn1145 That long of an answer, I dont care whats in it, you win anyway.
Yes shy is a classy Lady!!!
She is awesome, and her legacy with Nightwish also is, Dark Passion Play is one of my all time favorite albums ever made
My all time faves are DPP and Once
@@jeffreyokun2355 You have taste my friend.
I’m in absolute agreement with you on this one. She was absolutely wonderful. She gave it all her hart and soul and you could feel that in her voice. Listening to her got me through some sad times in my life . Wonderful woman.
specially bye bye beautiful & amaranth
I am disappointed the person who was interviewing her wasn't focusing on her solo career as much but I am very happy to see and already knew how good of a person Anette is. To be honest and say "yes I was sad, angry but I am learning to deal" is amazing. Her album is amazing and she looks great and very happy
It's just part of an interview. 0:22, "so about now, Nightwish"...
Anette, there are people out here that comment that you are their favorite Nightwish vocalist. I love you. I'm glad you have such good character.
Best way to deal with issues is to mope and write public tirade letters
yeah they did the same thing to Tarja, I think the issue is that these women aren't men and have a different biological clock running against them.
@@bmay81 From what i've gathered; they both ended up developing diva complexes, which really didn't sit well with the band and made everything difficult.
Gizmos Monster that’s only true about Tarja. The band (and the fandom) are simply disloyal.
Anette gave us some of the most beautiful slow songs like The Crow, The Owl and The Dove and Eva. I really love both of her studio albums!
I say this as a fan of of all 3 singers the band Nightwish has had and I'm not going to attack anyone, just share what I've observed and try to give a peaceful closing to this:
After all these years I finally decided to research this all for myself to see what the hell happened.
Well said.
This the right attitude and imho how to listen to the music. There is so much beautiful stuff in the world.
Night wish are the true backstabbers. Name me 10 bands where the singer got sick and the band found a temporary singer!!! In other words let me dumb it down, nightwish didn't show loyalty to her and standing by her.
shove that up all you whiners
and dont say my cousins band played at a birthday party and they had a replacement singer
I was never really into the Anette Nightwish, but ironically a handful of my favorite Nightwish songs are Anette songs.
The 2 best albums were the Annette albums. Imaginerium is perfect
Contrary to what many people say, I loved Anette(love Tarja and Floor as well!!) in Nightwish...she had some pretty big shoes to fill. I also wish more time was spent on talking about her new project. It's wonderful as well!
JessyBee1313 those big shoes didn't fit her
Tarja has beeg feet? xD
its only right that she is proud on her albums with NW .... because DPP and Imaginaerum are two extraordinary albums...DPP was hit album and Imaginaerum just epic story album.
Wow I love Anette's personality even more now. ^_^
She looks so fresh and beautiful without the piercings and heavy make up. She is so sweet and that sense of humor is contagious!
Read about it all. Tarja's husband put all the foolishness in her head
Right comment.
Floor succs
She is pure class and I love her work in The Dark Element - the music is well suited for her voice and vice versa. The Nightwish "battles" need to stop. They have the perfect fit now and their former singers have found great places to share their impressive talents with us!
She’s adorable. Such a lovely spirit 💚
She is so beautiful and sooo kind! I really love her voice and her albums are amazing.. she has a different energy.. i still listen to her nw songs and her new songs in the new band! Love u so much dear Olzon! 🖤
Wow, she's a gorgeous lady, so positive and friendly! And her voice is amazing, I always loved Anette in Nightwish :)
It's easy to notice on her gestures that she went through a lot things during those 5 years while in the band. That's astonishing she joined Nightwish for 7 years and now she's away. I mean look at her, then watch one of the first FaceCulture interviews with her.
Is she Björk's lost sister?? hahaha.
This woman is so sweet, wish her the best with her career.
Some of the greatest Nightwish songs came from Annette's time with the band.
Agree.
Great vocalist, beautiful woman and a very wise and classy human.
This is very mature of her to say... The sitting down and saying goodbye. Tuomas has always seen for me as a very weird type of "professional" performer. I mean, two albums, great sales... And not even a thank you? Wow. And this is coming from a fan of the band since Tarja
Markus Nashorn shut the fuck up you parrot 🦜
I totally get her with the whole closure thing. I personally hate it when a former-friend and I leave on a bad note. I understand that not every person can be compatible with another, but it shows mutual respect and humility to try to mend a burning bridge before you cross it to the other side, in the event that later down the road you'll come into contact again, it won't be with animosity in your hearts.
I respect her so much, she's so nice and polite. And I also liked her in Nightwish, she was amazing!!!
I love anette.
Çerastes perhaps. doesnt mean i cant like her tho:) also its not just about the
band to me its about the ppl in it and i just really liked anettes
light-hearted, fun personality, not just her vocals. but hey - different
opinions
Çerastes yeah. i think she had a hard time with the long touring periods and shows and didn't always have the capacity to sing those songs well. tho i do think she improved over time singing the old songs.
She's such a good person. I just hope what ever she said wait true.
God bless you Anette.
"I dont hold grudges." Shes so positive and her laugh... its lighthearted. she doesnt dwell on anger. i admire her for all that.
She does seem like a pretty sweet person, but she doesn't belong in a metal band, that's all.
just listen to bye bye beautiful...the song fucking rocks only because of Marco when she sings i want to fucking murder her and particularly in this song!Of all the songs that she did i like storytime very much but only that although floors version is better.sure the band while she was there made many great songs like amaranth bye bye beautiful storytime and the islander but the reason why the band was good in this period is not anette.either marco is astonishing(bye bye beautiful islander)or the songs that she actually is the only singer are worse that when they are sang by floor( amaranth storytime)
who the hell hired that journalist..
Thuomas :)
😂😂
Great to see she is still in the game and standing tall!
Look at that smile. Like sunshine.
You can be biased or delusional, but in reality there's no doubting her talent.
she brought fresh air into their songs
In Deed , And we need it
Anettes songs are better when Floor sings them
Brian Shannon disagree
Markus Nashorn ahh shut the fuck up....ranting batshit
Markus Nashorn Tuomas and the rest of Nightwish thought she was a good fit otherwise they wouldn’t have chosen her. Your opinion doesn’t matter to me. They have two amazing albums because of Anette.
She is really cute and sweet
all the three singers of nightwish have a similar character, also floor the latest, however anette seems the most sweet of them :)
she is absolutely beautiful
Anette was the first vocalist I heard in Nightwish but, all three are amazing.
Anette is awesome n I love the album's she done with nightwish
I fell in love with Nightwish with Anette as lead throat. I never really cared for Tarja Turunen, although she has grown on me since I began listening to the band, I always felt she was a bit to operetic for my taste. I can understand Anette's frustration with having Floor Jansen come in as a temporary replacement, and the fear that she would replace her, Floor has an amazing stage presence, and is a nice blend of Tarja and Annette's styles. I love Anette's voice, I wish her well in her solo career, and I will most certainly be listening. There will always be the music.
I take it you haven't heard of the dark element then. Punch in The Ghost and the Reaper. Thank me later.
Anette , such a beautiful smile , a very beautiful lady .. ... best of luck with your future ..... Nightwish not the same without you !!
Yeah the are So Much Better !!!! Floor is Better for the Band in Every way !! : D
She is so gorgeous!!! And I love her voice... She rocks!!!
Think that she's a wonderful human being, and by her accent she's from my homeland. So Kudos and best wishes Annette
***** Her departure was not about her being a diva, so I don't think it would've happened.
*****
I really doubt that.
Kysfallen
But you can't really call getting pregnant unprofessional.
I love tarja, i love anette, and i love Floor!!
Tuomas writes the music that provides jobs for Nightwish and staff - he can do what he wants.
I am a new fan about 4 years. I think Dark Passion Play and Imaginarium are the best Night Wish albums. I also like Dark Element Project.
I could ask the same question. ..
She's very nice, and a good singer, so the whole thing seems a bit sad... but now we have Floor!
I'm wondering just how long Floor is going to last with them.
shawn lopez They were on tour? I'd be pretty tied-up too if I had to travel place to place with a last-minute stand-in for a lead singer.
RCDeschene
I appreciate your running to the bands defense but I can do my own research just fine and I've already formulated my conclusion about the band and their singers.
shawn lopez I'm actually not defending anyone. Tuomas is clearly a drama queen, Tarja is without a doubt a diva, and Anette takes things the wrong way.
No questions about her new solo career or her new album?
Pretty awesome lady it seems. Love her attitude. Im sure there is alot to it all we dont know, but it is good to hear her say those things.
Annette seems much happy now that she is no longer with nightwish
***** Speak for yourself.
***** I've seen a lot of love for Annette, seen it in these VERY comments. I personally think Floor is the finest singer they've had.
She's so kind
She's an amazing person. Go on anette!
OMG! I love her so much
I grew up listening to nightwish, the first song I listened to was Amaranth and fell in love with the band, especially after hearing Dark Passion Play so it's taking time to adjust.
I hate people who claim that band politics don't concern us and we should just concentrate on the music. Because thats like saying if a murderer made some music its ok to like it and buy his music even though you are then supporting and giving him money. So if Nightwish is being cruel and treating singers like shit they do not deserve the money and loyalty.
hankthecowdog115 seconded.
***** "Have you never had a falling out with someone at school/work and broken off a (working) relationship under less than amicable circumstances?"
I'm sure most everyone has.
" Would you like the outside world to judge you as a person on those two break-ups years"
Fair or not, people judge you by your actions.
*****
"The departures were perhaps un-pr-friendly but saying they treat their singers like shit is somewhat overstating and dramatizing the case."
I don't agree at all. Take a look at the video "Ataque de Tarja" watch?v=3bj4h1807kY
Watch as a guy comes on stage takes tarja down onto the floor and sexually assaults her.
Good for you Anette. I still love you and all your music.
+lamarchesa2012 just one correction, the name of Floor's former band is "After" Forever mate lol
My favorite vocalist..ever.
Well duh!! They are their best albums along with a couple of Tarjas
She's such a sweet woman! I want to hug her!
I love her! Your age will is the best in Nightwish!
You're an idiot and know nothing about the Nightwish guys
One of these days I'm gonna have her as a guest vocalist on my album when my band Ninja Gandhi gets big. She's my favorite female singer of all time.
Anette Is nice.
Anette with them were best years beautiful woman with a beautiful voice, tarja too classical for metal, floor just too much
Tarja's classical voice was about the contrast that it created, and her voice fitted the epic nature of their music. It's symphonic metal after all.
Define "too much" because what I love about Floor is that like Tarja her voice has the power to match Tuomas' epic music, and actually I felt that Anette was "not enough", lol.
Aw what a sweet person! She just inspired me :)
she's so awesome :)
Annette you are so much better now in 2020 , you seem more confident, more relaxed ,
the movie "Bye bye beatifull" it's greatest movie, watched it a lot
What a class act!
you know a person's taste for a bands lead singer can be compared to a person's favorite doctor in Doctor Who.
Anette seems like such a friendly person.
Floor will be fires as soon as she become the more popular one in Nightwish, that's what Toumas does!
When it happens I wish Tarja,Anette and Floor become a band
why he would do that in your opinion ?
@@bastgta as he said, and I quote "Well I did(wrote a open letter to Tarja) that because I am a face of the band..." . HE DOES NOT like to be outshined point blank. As soon as fans started to accept Annette and portray her as the NIGHTWISH she got kicked out.
ah i get it, he created nightwish so he want to be always the face of the band and that why i saw him always with the singers in the pictures
No dont do it Annette,Thomas will only win,he does not deserve to use your voice ever again, the best revenge is success and i know you can prove that.
1. It's Anette and Tuomas 2. it's actually up to them not her
NW traded Anette for Floor Jansen.
fair trade imo
5 years later, still not proven, same for Tarja, 15 years later, still not proven. Both have been way less successfull on their own since, and NW keeps on trucking along. ( Ps, It would be the same with Floor)
I was warming up to her tbh. Imaginaerum is one of their best.
Anette is simply amazing. After she left I stopped listening to Nightwish.
Your Worst Mistake... Floor is Phenomenal.
Watch this: th-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/w-d-xo.html
Big mistake 😂 anette is awesome , but Floor is a Godess. Just give it a try
@@cameliatudor2473 good for you, imo Floor is amazing in After forever and Revamp, but Nightwish is soulless commercial bunch now
The two best nightwish albums since Annette left... Are the two Dark element albums.
Tuomas is the Problem of the Band not the Female Singers.
Why would Tuomas be the problem? Nightwish is because of him, not because of the lead singers. They are the face, but Tuomas is everything else.
***** Thank you. My point was basically the way they parted from side of the guys, which I consider somewhat childish and unprofessional.
***** So you're saying that nothing he said in that open letter had absolutely no truth to it?
she is so professional about Nightwish. So disrespectful of the guys that they didn't even talk to her from the last concert. And all of the hate she received, it's ridiculous. She didn't do anything wrong, Tuomas chose her and then he fired her in a very bad manner. I hope they will not do the same with Floor one day.
