I'm surprised no one has mentioned this: this is actually an old Irish folk tune called Fisher's Hornpipe. And it's not two hornpipes, it's two verses of one song.
What irks me the most is that a lot of people are saying that someone called Skip Henderson wrote this song, But with a little searching it turns out to be a almost 250 years old song and was most likely written in 1780, So no way this Skip wrote "the fisherman's hornpipe"!
For those of you enjoying this, Skip Henderson, who recently passed away, composed Two Hornpipes. A rabbit-hole journey into the internet will reveal the jolly joy he brought to many.
He may have arranged it for an orchestrated film score, but he didn't compose the melody. This is an old fiddle tune called Fisher's Hornpipe. I recognized it because when the movie came out, I was taking fiddle and mandolin lessons, and that was one of the songs I was learning.
If I ever here this music start playing over the speakers in a pub. I'm immediately looking for cover. Because I know exactly what's coming up when this starts playing
When a party is dead i just walk up to the speaker and put this on. Then everyone starts bashing eachothers brains out and dancing again. Aaaah good times
If a Pirate gets married and they have a bachelor party, you can definitely guess this song will be playing.....would be quite the glorious party...savvy?
Actually, it's completely possible, if unlikely. Although this particular mix of the song was arranged for the movie, it's not an original song. It's an Irish reel, known as Fisher's Hornpipe. I honestly prefer this version, though, because of the squeeze box used in it :)

It's also not a hornpipe. It's a reel.
Skip Healy was a consultant (and on Muppet Treasure Island). And yes its definitely a hornpipe, that could be played as a reel if you wanted.
Maybe the name is a reference to the fact their are two versions of the song playing at once
