What helped me the first time I purged was putting them in a bag to donate..and I’m lazy so it sat it in a closet for a month and when I went to finally drop them off I looked through them again to see if I felt any regret..and that’s been my go-to way of purging now. It’s not too drastic like maybe you get in a crazy mood one day and immediately get rid of them but kinda give yourself a chance to “miss” them or still have feelings for them LOL
If you’re worried about your address, you can rent a PO Box temporarily. I live in Los Angeles and I rent one because all of my mail gets stolen, but it’s also a good way to keep your physical address anonymous. Mine is hella $$$, but check with your local post offices because it varies by location and some of them are affordable. You can rent for 6 months or 12 months. Also, as your channel continues to grow, it’s also a good way to receive PR. Purging is super difficult, but one of the bright sides is that some of your Mallows are isos for people and will make them so happy to get. Sometimes I get messages from people I sell to on eBay telling me one of my beloved plushies is a special gift for someone they love and that makes it easier. ❤
I NEEDED THIS!!!! I only have a few squishmallows but I have been struggling being happy with owning just the few I have. I almost ordered a Hug-A-Lump but resisted as I knew I didnt need more plushies. This made my day!!! Thank you and I am so proud of you Brenda!❤ regards from finland!❤❤❤
Girl you crack me up 😂But I totally understand your pain when trying to downsize things that were/are important to you. I really do find that once the items are gone though, you don't miss them as much as you think you will. You'll be more happy with the space you have and you'll be able to see and appreciate the ones that are really special to you!
This is exactly where I’m at Brenda. Running out of space and trying to be more financially responsible. I tried my local flea market to sell some collectables and that went well honestly. Gonna try again in December. I do the same; if it’s a new collection I gotta get rid of older things. It’s hard but we can do this! Sending love and positive vibes 🧡🤟
This is so relatable... I am also a full-grown adult with a job in accounting that never "grew out of" the things I liked when I was younger. I love collecting things, but I get super overwhelmed when my space gets too crowded. 😭 It's an endless cycle of purge > collect more stuff > purge. I can say that it's always a relief after I've gotten rid of some stuff, even if the process itself is not fun.
You did such an amazing job!! It’s so hard to downsize. I made myself do it not too long ago. I made a rule that if I bring a plush home now I have to get rid of one. Do I follow that 100% of the time… no maybe not, but it still helps keep me somewhat in check
First time here and as much as it hurt to see you get rid of your mallows, you are absolutely hilarious! You definitely had me cracking up lol looking forward to watching your other videos
Girl, I work in the medical field and people depend on me…I still collect plushies and other toys. Work me is very different from Home me 😇 You did a great job! Love your videos! 🤘👍
You have every reason to be proud of yourself Brenda! You did great! 🙌✨ It's never easy to let go of things, so please give yourself some credit for actually going through with it 💪 It was definitely the right decision to just go for it right then and there, too! It's always good to make use of that energy of an impulse to change something, before you can talk yourself out of it again 😁 ...also your description of this video is highly relatable to me 🙈 I am so sorry to my younger self for constantly hating on her for absolutely no reason 😒 So let's try to be kinder towards ourselves now, ok? 🥰 You a cutie patootie and don't you ever forget that! 😘
This is totally me. I am a collector but minimalist at the same time. I allow 1 bookshelf for my collection and it can't go over that. I get too overwhelmed with too much stuff. It's freeing when you downsize. There is a saying, "Let the container be the gatekeeper." If it fits comfortably it stays.
Doing this tmr because I have way to much and I’m not attached to half of them and like you said you want to be able to have more room I’m doing it because I want to only keep the ones I’m attached too so I can give them more love and actually be able to see them because at this point I’m stacking stuff on top of each other 😂
Good video. People have to do this often with things they collect and with clothes so they can buy more especially as a youtuber. Hopefully you can sell them and get some money back
Accountant girlies rise! Im also a plushie collector and my mom helps me (not good for my addiction) and tomorrow we’re hoping to sell a bunch at a sale with a bunch of other vendors 😢
Girl you totally should just try and sell them and then donate the leftovers, that’s awesome! I’m sure if you made a Whatnot and maybe used a PO Box sooo many people would tune in and love to buy your squish! Especially since you’re moving soon, it would help (: if you have the time anyways, it’s live and people like me would love to chat it up with you and buy squish !! ☺️🫶🏼🌸✨
I did this a couple of months ago to make room for JellyCats and others. I'll sell them someday (maybe). It's what we do lol. Either this or a bigger house.
Id say a PO box address if youre able, or you can send them from a post office and out that office address as the return address. Also youve inspired me to narrow down my collection too (316😰)
I'm so in this headspace right now, except it's dolls instead of squishmallows. Even if you kept some of the maybes I think it was a successful downsizing.
I like to collect things and started with handmade plushies then went to Jellycat and Charlie Bears then added a bunch of Squishmallows and a few Gund, Aurora, and some random brands. I have been collecting Jellycat for a few years and need to stop and purge some that are just sitting there but they are my favorite brand. I did purge squishmallows a few times at yard sales and got rid of a ton but still need to go through my whole collection of plushies and get rid of more. My main thing is that I want to be happy with my collection and stop wasting money on more. I feel guilt for spending so much money 😢

I feel your pain. Earlier this summer I had to do a similar purge because I was moving.
As a fellow plushie collector...I understand 😢

That’s a great rule! I might implement that one for myself too 😂💕
This is amazing! It’s part of the reality of collecting something and I wish more collectors showed it.
You are delightful and my favorite TH-camr! I think everyone who collects squish goes through this so don’t feel bad.
First time here and as much as it hurt to see you get rid of your mallows, you are absolutely hilarious! You definitely had me cracking up lol looking forward to watching your other videos

“I wanna be a better person” “but I’m also into jelly cats now” 🤣 omg ur a riot ily

I have a lot of squish and feel the same as you I get a little overwhelmed with having not enough space anymore
I LOVE THE WATER BUFFALO SONG! i grew up on Veggietales 🥺❤️😅
YESS pizza angel & cheeseburger were my ultimate jams!
I’m gonna need that Wendy, and all the cows you purged 🫣

I would totally buy the banana bigfoot, Vince, and Jason hugmee from you!
I did this a couple of months ago to make room for JellyCats and others. I'll sell them someday (maybe). It's what we do lol. Either this or a bigger house.
I need a whole other house just for plushies lol
Id say a PO box address if youre able, or you can send them from a post office and out that office address as the return address. Also youve inspired me to narrow down my collection too (316😰)
Good for you. I cant let go of my approximately 400 squish. But im making a stricter criteria for buying new ones. 😊
I'm so in this headspace right now, except it's dolls instead of squishmallows. Even if you kept some of the maybes I think it was a successful downsizing.
And here I am at basically 300 🥴🥴
I need to purge 😂😂😂😂
Thought you were getting rid of he pink manatee 👀😂
LOL you got me girl; I changed my mind at the last minute! 😭
