    OMG!!!!! I was an automotive tech for 30 years only seen 1 vehicle inside as nasty . Refused to even get in the vehicle told the customer to have it detailed and then I would work on it. You are one brave man to work on something that filthy .

    Forgot step 1, either run or get out shop vac and clean up work area before starting. Doesn’t pay to work in filth. Charge extra for cleanup. Just imagine what that A coil looks like!

      You never repair or clean without getting paid or authorized. Doesn't pay to do favors for free either, you can just charge someone extra on the back end, it's actually illegal.

    You get a head lamp too. I use one all the time. It helps me to see what I am doing in any light conditions. Keeps my hands free.

    I agree with having a small shop vac with you at all times. You get mostly nasty units in those places you go. A cleaning charge is fair too. I would need an N95 mask too!

    Drain was already loose I would’ve cut it out and bent copper to get it out the way. Save myself time fighting with the blower also damn that shit was nasty like do those people clean at all. Good job Curtis as always 🎉

    Had one like that yesterday in a mobile home hadn’t been touched in 25 years and it showed. Had to use my puller to get it off. Wheel and housing cleaned up good though.

    I would have cleaned the whole area with a shop-vac before touching anything. Otherwise tuff area to work in as it was so close, you did a great overall job

    I see one at least that dirty or worse just about every year. I’ve even had one that had 1/4-1/2” of slime on the evaporator just filthy environment, others with maggots all in the floor next to the unit. Lots of fun when you walk into a call like that.

    I don't see how that fan could have possibly gone bad? Considering it was pulling a VACUUM everytime it was on because of all the nasty. That was disgusting!

    probably would have just bent the closest guide tabs up with large screw driver/prybar, then hammered them back down afterwards. I would say just bend the lineset over a bit, but with my luck it would pop and blow the whole charge in my face, costing me labor and material. 🙄 "if not for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!"

    Lubricate the blowing fan housing tracks/rails with a spray lubricant like WD-40 to make it easier to slide into & out of the air-handler. A scrub brush to agitate that dirt makes cleaning the blower wheel easier.

    I had one like that, and it helped me to snip off the left rear part that slides in the groove at a 45 degree angle. It still went into the slot and held fine!

    Well, it's better than under a trailer in raw sewage any day I would say. Maybe not by much 😅 I feel the guy being a mechanic for over 30 years, there was one car I refused to work and it had maggots and dirty diapers in what used to be the floor board. They had trash stacked level with the hump in the center of the vehicle. Ridiculous. 🤮

    If the outside of the inside unit looked like that I'd hate to see the evaporator coil. Did you take a look at it when you had the blower out?

    I think I would have given a quote to replace this one. It has been abused. Now that the cap and blower motor are replaced and running at the correct demand, let's see how long it takes for the call back because something else has quit working. I know you like to repair the old units Curtis, but this one had soo much wrongvits not worth the call back.

    People live in some disgusting conditions......I had some long time tenants in my 2 family home. When they were gone I couldn't believe the filth they lived in. Took me a while to clean the place.....

      He bought a new blower wheel in case the old one couldn't be saved. Probably trying to help the customer with their budget. Lots of customer discussions aren't shown on videos for obvious privacy reasons but they often involve what the customer would like ( and can afford ). It's not always a straight-up technical decision.

    Might have been a good idea to have purchased a case of filters for this customer since they don't change it or use one. They also need some counciling about the filters, what they are for and the filter grill etc. need to be cleaned with a vacuum with brush attachment a few times a year. Maybe they don't know this or maybe they just leave it be but its worth finding out.
    Good repair...good idea moving that cap someplace logical...you might get the call next time ! Good idea confirming the wires and removing the old ones vs. having two wire nut connections. Maybe these folks should ask Santa for a shop vac for Christmas.

    FYI mobile home motors run higher static pressures then your standard motor. I have notice that when working on this type of electric furances standard motors don't last due to amp draw and static

      @@HVACGUY I understand the capital incentive. I think you need to add a "disposable PPE/supplies" charge to those bills for KN95 masks, full eye protection, and perhaps nitrile gloves. You've got video of the conditions and that might make it possible to bill for a "service cleaning" to make it safer for the technician. I'm sure there is a point at which they'll balk, but you've got the vids/pics of the unit condition, and I think you may have a wee bit of leverage as they call you to fix stuff other techs or companies can't or won't. And use that PPE!

    Good Grief!! You need to bring a small Shop Vac with you when you see a place like this. I would NOTeven THINK about going any further without vacuuming everything out. I would ALSO be wearing a mask bad as it is because you do not know what is in all that dust!! Get some masks and wear them when have a nasty job like this unless you want to get sick!!
