    The Collision Model is just like Forza Horizon. You can't get rid of backmarkers which is a huge disadvantage in this update. I'm still waiting for penalties..

      Ik. Ghosts and offtrack/heavy collision penalties would fix all rammer issues. People will always ram in a racing game. It must be fixed

      You're right sir...penalties are the only way..at least some online hoppers with penalty option, so rammers would be happy ramming and players could race peacefully

      penalties and revised track limits. there are tracks where the corners are cut wrong, especially on VIR. kerbs are meant to be used, the lines should be drawn on the outside of the kerb from the track. but, yeah, ghosted back markers are necessary.

      My guess would be they aren't able to only ghost them for people lapping them while leaving them unghosted for people who are on the same lap as them. Might be hard to implement if they already coded the system in a way that doesn't allow that, but I don't know anything about coding games.

      Vox System To be honest, I don’t want ghost lapped cars. It makes sense why GT does it, just by the way their game plays and the online aspect. But with Forza I think it should stay off, or at least be an option you can toggle. I wish I could explain a reason why but it just feels right.

      i love racing games but nothing pisses me off more than paying for someone else's mistakes. also losing to people clearly worse than me. and that happens ALL THE FUCKING TIME in forza.

      A penalty system will never deter people intent on being an asshole. Just ghosting backmarkers would help greatly.
      They should also be able to figure out how to ghost someone flying into a braking zone too fast to be anything but a rammer.

    They still need to ghost backmarkers. And maybe back off just a tad on the collision model and that should do it - somewhere in between where it was and where it is now.

    I hate to say it, but these changes take away the joy of Super GT's Forza vids. I want to see flying cars, X-rated lunges, murders and memes. Have they taken away the games chaotic soul?
    Absurdly, Gran Turismo looks more anarchic now.

      I play PS4 mostly while I can say gt sport is not as good as fm7 the online races are not that bad because most people that bought the game are wanting to race for real.

    I said it the other day, it is a double edge sword. Yes, small taps wont upset the cars as bad but people will be more aggressive and less patient. Sounds like my video from the other day, but yours is much better done. Love the content.

      GT Sport is too strict and broken to be fair
      a lot of the time when you are rammed, you get the penalty, not the rammer

    Here's an idea to fix this: Every time you ram someone, your car loses ~0.5% of its mass. You get ~10% mass back with every race. Consistent rammers will have very light cars, but when they come across a solid racer, it'll be like hitting a rock.

    I think that in a hopper like GT Endurance with mostly clean drivers this will definitely result in much more enjoyable racing. I already see that it helps with those accidental touches that used to send your car spinning and I feel that happens a lot even with clean drivers so hopefully this remedies that.

    I think this is a step backward. Making the cars solid unmovable objects is not the solution to rammers. Sure minor contact doesn't upset the car now but if backmarkers can hold up the whole field and can't get moved out of the way, the original issue isn't solved.
    Turn 10 needs to revert back to the old collision model and GHOST BACKMARKERS
    That is the only way to end backmarkers from ruining races. Just ghost them. Making every car have the weight of the titanic doesn't fix issues

      Exactly I was racing at La Man was in second heading into the back straight I have power over the whole field ran down first he literally just moved across and normally would have wrecked himself but no we just welded his passenger side rear quarter panel to my driver side quarter panel and I couldn’t get by

      Jon Hagy I know it’s so annoying I was literally at top gear because every other race seems to be there and three guys too ford raptors and just ran a rolling back marker road block and nobody could move them and if you tried to go around them in the grass they had friction assist on so they’d literally just stay full speed an be able to catch you in the grass.... this game has gone to shit

      They had the right idea with this update, Forza's classic collision model was super weird, with cars colliding and bouncing off of each other like ping pong balls. But they definitely overshot it here.

      @@Reydriel It was super weird precisely because cars didn't react enough when involved in a crash. You'd drive into a wall at 200 M/h and your car would just stop, just like that, barely any rebound. All they've done is amplify that problem.
      Honestly, I don't know why they even implement collisions anymore. Just turn them off completely if all people want is to do time attacks together.

    I'll be honest, not a fan of this update whatsoever. It does "somewhat" solve the problem of rammers simply shoving everyone off circuit, but it's a lazy fix at best that doubles as a new way for backmarkers to ruin the race. The clip you used as an example was just ugly to watch as that Lambo simply destroyed what would've been a good race at Sebring. Plus, it also turns the game into a more arcady style of driving. All in all, this may have been the biggest step backwards I've ever seen Turn 10 take. I'm just glad I'm moreso into sim-racing nowadays like PC2 and Asseto Corsa. RIP Forza Motorsport. At least Horizon has it's charm...at times.

      Turn 10 takes a step backwards in every new title, look at previous titles then look at the next game in line and you'll see a significant thing that made the previous game good, isn't in the next generation. My biggest gripe is how they keep making the game colorful and the menus more complicated.

    The way these collisions have been updated may allow for 1 rammer/asshat to hold the lobby to ransom however it is also even easier now to find the culprit and get said person removed. Especially if more and more people realize the vote to kick feature exists/works.

      Jon Hagy not sure how that effects the vote to kick system. Dirty racers still exist forza has always been full of them. There's only so much dirt that one can clean up. It'll always be tracked in.

    personally I'm quite happy with the new collision model; close quarters side-by-side racing with small taps and nudges is finally possible without one person constant being violently spun by a tiny bit of contact. On the other hand I can see what you mean though with the cars being too heavy, and that causing some issues in public MP. Interested to see how T10 will balance this

    That's funny. When i was playing Horizon 4 i was thinking the collisions are so much better in this game, ppl dont trampoline off into the sunset, they just get nudged a bit here and there. Looks like they put that into this game now too, which i think is a positive.

    The number one difference I've noticed from Forza and other games like GTsport, are the collision physics. In Forza, you go launching off the track into a spin like a top wheel from even the slightest bump. In GTsport it seems like the cars are much much heavier upon impact. I've always wondered what would happen if the cars in Forza were less sensitive to collision.

      Justin Leonard kinda. Pgr had a unique driving engine where it was all about timing trail braking to get an amazing corner. Do that in forza without assists and you will likely spin out every time

    It just looks like they added a layer of superglue on top of the cars paint, especially the hits at 5:36 by the orange car and the one at 5:54

    Wait, isn't these physic a little bit like the Gran Turismo ones? You can make contact, etc. This with the new regulations system in Forza and will get a pretty similar system than in GT. T10 stated that this is just one of the steps.

    Omg, I feature in a Super GT video in 5:47. So happy now.
    And yeah, I concur, that race was excellent with everyone that you see, except for that one Mauno Q guy that literally went on and fucked up 2 races by racing horribly and being an ass as a backmarker. We tried to kick him MULTIPLE times, but for some reason that vote kick system DOES NOT WORK.
    There are also some insta-kill corners now, even though you did not hit anything. Turn10 really needs to check this out.
    And they need to bring the GHOSTED BACKMARKERS. god damn it turn10, learn from your mistakes!

    I feel like Microsoft should have implemented a penalty system instead of a new collision system. Rammers exist no matter what. What needs to be done is not about preventing ramming from happening, it’s about consequences. Law. Darwinism. GT sport does a much better job than Forza on the penalty system and relevant tutorials so that players are educated and well behaved, PENALISED if they cross the line.

    I think the Lamborghini at 5:18 had the collision assist on. It keeps the car from rotating when hit. I don't think we needed that assist because of the reason in the clip. The collision model is good though.

    I'm kinda happy with the update. Forza never has been about realism and these new physics make the tagging and slight banging bearable now. Before I would have a bit of aggressive(but Clean) driving with someone and both of us crash. Now, it keeps us battling. If this means I can have some really good trading paint moments side by side with other people I'd say this is step forward. Still needs a license or something though

    I think the new system is better in every way. The old system made players either spin both of you out or forces players to drive with way too much space between them if they didnt want to risk crashing. Races are a lot closer too now.

    Part of the "super heavy glued car" thing could be that you have "Collision Assist" turned on under the assists menu.
    Turning this off makes the cars less sticky, and a little better with the new model.
    However, if you hit (or are hit by) somebody who has the assist on, both players react as if the assist is on.

    There is an option that you can turn on/off regarding the new collision model in the assists menu I think that supposedly controls the amount of sliding a car will do. Don't know if it makes a difference either way, but it's there to be noted. Although from my understanding it only matters if both parties have it turned off, otherwise Collision Assist is applied for both parties in the collision

    The muted feel of collisions where cars stick together is actually fairly accurate, especially compared to before. Cars deform and absorb the energy, they aren't snooker balls which transfer it all to the other car. However there certainly does also seem to be a secondary effect with cars seemingly sucked towards the track and pointing the right way and that might be why it feels odd. That might explain why ramming you in the braking zone still worked to get you off the track, yet doing it mid corner and you're still in the race.

    Going by that Torrana race I'd say this is a good thing, with the old model you'd probably have been down at the back of the pack after the first lap, but with this you managed to hold position and have a good race. I guess with back markers you just need to use a different approach. You can't side swipe them anymore, but they can't either so just drive past them?

    My view:
    Racing with clean friends - Brilliant, means slight accidental knocks don't send people flying and ruin the whole race
    Online - Better, not quite so chaotic but you'll always have people that try to ruin it...

    A collision model like this is fine in random matchmaking. But I'd like to see them put in a Ranked Mode that bases each race lineup on personal driver rating, and that also has the more realistic collisions along with a penalty system in place. They also need to implement those ghosted backmarkers across the board in every mode.

    I think they mentioned if someone is running the collision assist, it will apply that assist to anyone they hit. So a few of your collisions may have been reduced because of that.

    I think they changed the handling of cars as well... maybe I'm crazy but I drive the same cars quite a lot and there have been a bunch of times that leave me wondering. (not to do with collisions, just how the car controls.)

    I think, if it does anything, it influences contact. Ghost backpackers and ghost everyone for the first 15 seconds of the race. Take the ability to crash others at the beginning away and the race can actually get underway.

    The lobby can turn off "collision assist" which dampens the affect of the collisions. By removing the assist, I would assume that cars would be more reactive to hits and such. This might solve the issue of one car holding the entire lobby at ransom

    The main thing I've seen after the update is rammers tactics have changed to take advantage of the new physics. They'll pull alongside you and literally push you off the track or into the wall. Previously you could avoid by braking and watch them shoot off the track but now the cars are sticky, you're basically locked together if a car is steering into you and so there's no escape. Coupled with the fact that the rammers are effectively moving roadblocks, start in a hopper at the back of a street circuit like Rio and there's essentially no way through to avoid them. Even though I hated being spun off by the old physics, at least there was a way for the pack to be separated with serious racers at the front, seems much harder now.

They were having a discussion and one was complaining about somebody, saying he's just trying to play then someone comes and do (stuff).     The chaos and funny carnage was so worth it while it lasted since forza 6 😂😂😂, Cars dont go flying anymore which is a good thing this is a great update, carnage still happens but atleast ones race doesnt get ruined by a rammer and get thrown and still have chance to be in the race 😍😍😍

    I have played just about every arcade racing game there is, and for the life of me I can't remember a single one where there weren't _substantial_ consequences for slamming into another vehicle. In a few, your car would outright _blow up._

      The game definitely prides itself on its claims of realism. The graphics, the tracks, the cars, the tuning; it's a simulator until you get to the physics and the absolute shit drivers that just log on to ruin people's races.

      ac 86 yeah. It is sad to see that forza is going down because of those small stuffs. Even though I’m not a fan of forza, and was a fanboy of nfs, I have more hopes on forza. If I am Turn10, I would definitely focus on the physics and more in depth tuning, and less cars first.

    I can't even imagine what they were thinking when they made this change.. "Our game has problems with carnage and puntings happening, what should we do? Oh I know, lets change the collision model so that that the cars are metal blocks that weigh several tons. What could go wrong?"
    They could've just made the backmarkers as ghosts and introduce a driver rating system so that the people who actually want to race, can race and those that wanna have a demolition derby can have that in their bottom of the barrel rating class. edit: They should change the games name to Forza Arcade 7, ain't nothing motorsporty about that collision model.

    I don't think the new collision model is bad it seems to be the collision assist that makes things way too forgiving, if you have the assist off and have a collision with someone who has it on it means you both receive the effects of the assist leading to inconsistent collisions so you'd be mad to turn it off when racing online, which means the standard for collisions becomes the assisted type leading to a rubberbanding feeling.

    They need to find the halfway between now and the previous settings. The cars can take a bump or two but the moment two cars " prop " one into another 99% of the time they both loose traction and wash out.

    It’s like how Horizon cars don’t react. Now you could go for a move on the inside and just bounce off the car like a wall instead of taking the turn like normal and push the opponent off. Also with that clip of the blocker slowing the whole race is a terrible side effect, it was also impressive, I can’t lie. Each race seemed to be very...bumpy. Everyone is just bumping into each other multiple times instead of being careful.

    I think it's not good for now, the car weight is more realistic, but they seems to no model correctly, in a sim way.
    For instance in a classic sim game, cars are heavy but easily spinable if in a turn, when they aren't really settled.
    Here even a unsettled car is like a brick, I really don't know how the physics works but it seems to be a really arcady way to implement it

    Yea they should have a system that detects if you're getting it from behind or the side then you dont get a penalty but if you're the one hitting with your front like on a slow corner coming in too fast, then you get the penalty IE, car limited to 20mph for 5 -10 seconds...its that simple and i know it wouldnt be an all fix, but it would help for sure.

    Lots of comments about how Ghosting back markers will help but when the chaos and ramming is happening at the start of the race, it is too early for them to be back markers and still your race is ruined.

    I think you have to sit back and ask yourself: What's the alternative?
    There's also a matter of "knowing the room." For the three people in every race that are good, clean(ish) and take things seriously, there are twenty others that are just there because it's a videogame-ass-videogame and they're going to videogame the heck out of it. So you can look at this as a way of not (immediately) ruining the experience of people who are there to race, but also sucking some of the drama out of those minor mistakes that happen to even the best racers. In any case, I feel it's probably for the best overall, but it has minor downsides in "good" races.
