  • Lets break in and pre-feather some RC foam Tires for the dirt oval! This is a follow-up episode to my original Tire truing/grooving/cutting tutorial.
In this episode I go over my method of adding some pre-break in (pre-feathering) on the BSR foam tires. This allows the tires to wear into the track faster and give you a better performing tire up front instead of waiting for the tire to fully break which depending on track conditions can be a long process. This can be very helpful for those tracks that take a lot longer for the break in process to take effect!
Hopefully you newer RC dirt oval Foam tire racers will find this video helpful!
Also, If you're just find this video and want to see the full tire truing tutorial which is helpful for the dirt oval foam tire racers and the carpet oval foam tire racers; you can find that video in the link provided below.

Looks like tons of fun 😂 Now is this for Slash chassis class?

Jeremiah Story, more like making a mess lol. Have to do a lot of shop vacuuming after cutting tires lol. But no, these are for the purpose built foam tire cars like 21.5 & 17.5 Late model, EDM and foam tire sprints. The rubber tire break in video that will be uploaded within the next couple of days will be beneficial for any and all Slash classes or any class that uses rubber tires.

@@Storyracing387 great question. Not yet but I believe the goal is to maintain the SCOR and GrassRoots RC racing rules packages so racers from the area can race at multiple tracks that share the same rules. The Grassroots RC rules can be found on their Facebook page. If you can't find it message me and I'll link you the page.

Pemberton Raceworks makes a tool made of carbon fiber that cuts grooves in the tires and is shaped to cut feathers in the tires while you groove them.

What's the best rear tires in your opinion for the sr10?

Hey Coach, from what I've seen and been told it looks like a lot of people like the Custom works dirt oval rubber tires. If the track is a high bite track the custom works slicks would be best. It a loose dirt track likely the Custom Works street tracs would be better. (They offer different compounds as well and I usually had a set of each) You can get these tires pre-mounted from Custom Works but they come on 1.9 wheels and the front wheels are meant for straight axle not a hex drive which will cause some fitment issues from the carriers and knuckles as well. What many of us did, and what I recommend (when I raced in the open 2wd buggy class) was buy the custom works tires and foam and stretch them over and glue them on some 2.2 hex wheels that are meant for the buggies (I really like the DE Racing Borrego wheels). then you don't have to worry about fitment issues or changing the front end from hex to straight axle.

@@CoachD386 I know we're talking in messenger but wanted to update here as well about the many using the Custom works dirt oval rubber tires over the DE racing tires. I'll also update my original reply.
