Interesting video. Makes sense to trim/remove trees to get light through the canopy to increase yields. I’m a backyard grower. 6 trees, 2 GEM, 1 Reed, 1 Sharwil, 1 Sir Prize, 1 multi grafted Fuerte/Mexicola Grande/Hass. 10B 91320 Newbury Park, right next to Camarillo.

So interesting! Thank you for posting.
Do more videos of avocado orchard tours in California!
I hope CA avo farmers can figure out creative ways to save water/money and/or increase yield.

How is removing every other tree increasing yield? The more light? Or the large tree's now can hold more fruit?

Removing every other tree will increase the sun light that hits the leaves, increasing the size of the tree and the amount of fruit the tree can hold. Therefore increasing fruit yield.

Sounds to me like a marketing problem, not a production problem.

Buyers just need to buy California avocados over imported

Hass avocados are overrated. I tasted better avocados in south easy asia. Those avocados are almost oblong in shape.

Kenyan avocado is best. Then Mexican. CA avocado worst

Sam, amazing production. I would highly recommend you DON'T remove trees. Use the Israeli method of pruning, take 25% of the tree, every year, and basically stump that limb. Open up the tree to light. Norm is on your video, he knows who I am. It's all about sun management, that will bring your skirts back. I have high density Hass and High dencetty GEM, my Hass are 245 trees to the acre and my GEM 600. My hass are not as dense as yours but I have worked on many other orchards, like yours, helping them prune. DON'T TAKE TREES OUT.
