I think the 15,000 baht per day budget is absurd. That's $413 USD a day for 15 days, for a total of $6,195. Add to that the flight and hotel and we are talking serious money. You can have fun in Pattaya for a lot less.
The mobile phone kiosks in the Avenue are always excellent and economical they only sell you the minimum coverage you need..I always get them to put my normal sim back in before I leave for the airport coming home then put the phone in flight mode until back in Australia . always works out perfect. I still advise to those that are new or newer to Pattaya (and this can be applied to Bangkok, Phuket, and elsewhere) to only book a hotel for three nights. That way if you don't like the place you are at for any reason you can easily change hotels using whatever booking site you use. If you do like the place you are at, no problem. Just re-book.
This is very important if you’re sensitive to noise or smells. I’ve had plenty of hotels that have noisy air conditioning. And even if you don’t turn your own on, often the a/c box of an adjacent room is loud enough to ruin your peace. It’s not uncommon to encounter an a/c unit that sounds like a tormented jet engine. You can't get the BTS at the airport. You have to take the airport rail link into town. Then Get the BTS from there. If you are giving out tips make sure they are actually true.
If you arrive at Don Mueang airport, take a taxi to Suvarnabhumi Airport and from there take the bus to Pattaya for like 200 baht. If you want to take a taxi all the way, it's also fine and should cost about 1200-1500 baht. First step to do at Suvarnabhumi Airport is to walk around and find the best rate to exchange your money. Change about half your budget, or enough for about a week. The rest you can do in Pattaya as needed, no problem. Step 2, get a sim card at the airport for your phone and make sure it works. Step 3, it's time to take the bus. Have fun.
Best place to exchange money at BKK airport, basement floor. Super rich money exchange booth, will see loads of Thais there, so that's tell you something. Do not !!! Do it at those rip off ex booths you see as soon as you clear immigration...
I get my SIM at the airport, D-TAC. for 300THB. It lasts me my 2 weeks easily, using maps on the go as well; it's competitive and they set it all up for you. For taxis, as many vet's say, Nams is the best price. I have stopped using Mr Ko. I suffered him letting me down at the last minute. I have been touted at the airport, and had 2 successful rides to Patts for 1300thb, so just waiting for a lady to approach you is ok. She put me in an orange taxi anyway, so the driver was possibly off shift, or whatever, just making a bit extra. I've used the bus, and that's ok too, apart from a wee hassle of another taxi or bike, with your case, to your hotel.
It's amazing the number of people who come here and don't do simple Google searches, there is absolutely no excuse these days. So last week I got on an empty Baht bus at Soi Buakhao/lenke. 4 shirtless English lads knocked on the drivers window and one said 'Koh Larn, can you take us to Koh Larn'. Another one then chirped in 'we want go Koh Larn'. It took about 30 seconds for the driver to just get pissed off and drive away. I mean this is simple, simple stuff.
thanks Trev! All good tips. there are obviously many reasons to love Pattaya. I love it because it's easy, super convenient and has everything one could ever want. 🙂
if you plan on using a Thai sim/esim, just make sure that your cell is network unlocked. Also, I suggest on getting a battery pack if you running around. Also, most places have free WIFI, if you are worried about Cell data usage. If you a laptop user, I suggest in getting a power strip that is long enough, sometimes the socket is further away. I have a power strip that is 2 pronged, but has 3 prong power receptacles with USB connectors. Also, I have zipper pockets on my shorts, don't want to loose your wallet/cell phone riding on a scooter. Bolt and Grab apps for the win. Also, always pack a HDMI cable.
Another thing you can do instead of the bus from the airport is sometimes it is two hours between buses is take the airport rail connector to phaya tai and then take the bts to the ekamai bus station where there is a bus at least every hour sometimes even more frequent. I as a solo traveler have done this before rather than waiting two hours at the airport.
I have left my card in the ATM on 2 separate trips to Thailand you are so programmed from the Uk that if you have the money you can leave but like you said it’s easy to walk away without the card and can be a real nightmare. Imagine how annoying it was getting caught out again knowing this. I took a spare back up card last trip so wasn’t as bad as first time it happened but still annoying!! Cheers
Unless I have to wait a long time I take the bus from the airport. The seats are very comfortable, it has airconditioning and it's a direct connection. Easy 900-1000 baht saved.
just wanted to say if your phone is like mines and you can't put in a different sim card, get a portable mobile hotspot at any mobile phone store. it's about the size of a small pager. you turn it on, it connects with your phones wifi, put it in your pocket and go on about your day. you hook up to it the same way you would hook up to your hotels wifi and the mobile phone store will explain it to you. yes, they are a bit pricey as they are about 1500-2000 bhat but it's well worth it to have a working phone. my data lasted 3wks and I still had lots left before I had to leave thailand.
Trev. You look and sound really tired! Have to rest. Have to take care of yourself. Ok. Take the time to do so. Make the effort. Your health is everything! Everything! Remember that. 👍😎
I have been using Toms Taxi, but lately my last 2 drivers suffered from speeding and the other one looked too tired to be driving. I am going to give Nams a try. Thank you for the info.
Here for the second time . I aim not to drink. Been having fun with the girls , but think I’m gonna head to koh samui and focus on my fitness and a change up. Love pattaya but this time I’m thinking this one week here is good . Appreciate the videos
Good video Trev. I agree with all the points you raised. To get the most "bang for your buck" in Patts and you enjoy drinking with the ladies, which is a lot of fun, you need to "splash the cash" and B10k works in most cases.
It would be nice if you highlighted bars and establishments that were owned by different nationalities. Me being from the U.S> and coming out for the first time here within the next couple of months it would be great going places that were American owned. That's absolutely not to say I would not support any other bars, but a little familiarity would be great when coming for the first time. You know you're my first stop homie!
I second Nam. I have used her several times, and she even saved my hide when I was stuck up in Saraburi. She sent a driver all the way up to Saraburi to bring me back to Pattaya. I only use Nam's Taxi.
Looking at this video and the streets after it has been 2 months since i left, all the old feelings of thailand i forgot are coming up. I repressed them in order to get used to my old life in home country. its like i've never been there until i see the streets then it all comes back

Bangkok Airport to Pattaya, just take the Air Con Coach, Level 1 or Two, just ask the information Desk its as cheap as Chips, Leather Seats reclining , ive done it on the Bus to Pattaya in one hour forty five Minutes, Cars Taxis are just as long and three times the price.
I had a problem with peeing and it hurt. Went to pharmacy at buakoa and within 5 mins i had medicine and a jab in the bum , jobs a gooden. Perfect service
You can get a 60 day tourist visa online now. Costs about 180USD. You fill in an online form and upload things like a photo, a copy of your passport, and an image of a bank statement showing you have some money available. If the embassy is happy with everything it emails you the visa within about a week. I have just gone through this exact process and got a 60 day visa. Other than the cost it was reasonably painless. I got my visa from New Zealand. This online process only came in during March of this year. You must use the visa you get within 2 months or it becomes invalid. Cheers y'all.
That's very costly considering they gave 90 day visas upon entry from Nov '22- April '23. I'd rather get a return flight to Cambodia or Laos for less money and you've added another country to your itinerary. I find Pattaya gets a bit repetitive after 3-4 weeks in my 14 or so visits since Feb '07.
I'm here now on 60 day e-visa from USA. It's $40 u.s. paid by credit card when you apply. Fairly simple. When it's approved you print the approval and show it at customs when you arrive. Easy. You do not need full hotel list, just for the day you arrive.
I've left this comment before for newbies... Don't fall in love with the first bar girl you meet and marry her in the village a month later... Im not joking!!😂
I once tried to give a Scotsman the very same advice, he didn't listen. Ended up marrying her and spending £15,000 on building a house in Isaan and when I returned to Pattaya 6 months later and asked the bar owner about the Scotsman, he explained all of the aforementioned and explained that the relationship was now over and he was back working on the oil rigs in the North sea. This was about March 2010 in The Mr Bean bar in New Plaza when I gave the advice. It was the only bar he'd used in the whole of Pattaya and his 1st time in Thailand, yet he told me that he knew what he was doing 🤣 It would cost him twice that now, so in a roundabout way, he's got off lightly.
yes. bolt will give you several options. car, motorbike, etc. and there will be a price next to each option. you pick what is best for you. the final price will be given before you confirm that you want the ride so there are no confusions
Yes, it's the same set up as Grab. Put your trip in and the price comes up. You can get cancelled by them, reason unknown (maybe they got a better offer) and you can get a call saying "I want/need more money." LOL, if it's peak times, or heavy traffic, unsociable hours. It happened to me and I just cancelled him and re-booked. The country I live in, they don't like the short runs. Other than that, either bike or car, it's good.
when you do the math its really for suckers, 5-10 lady drinks per Round for argument sake vs 1 Leo - thats a really over priced leo, might as well drink at the hilton !
As usual you have e given some good advice in this video. I even learnt something new as I didn’t know that standing on those Baht buses was illegal. If it was illegal then why were they designed that way? By the way, you were too judgmental in your narrative regarding transport. Not everyone that comes to Pattaya is a 2 week millionaire. You were concluding that people are supposed to start taking taxi’s because of their long flight to Thailand. My trips are now longer (4 to 5 weeks) and I don’t need to rush to Pattaya on arrival. It means I can take advantage of the cheaper bus and money saved could equate to 3 massage sessions or even 1 or 2 days hotel rate. Another advantage of bus travel is the opportunity for more social interaction with others which could just enhance your holiday experience. This has happened to me twice and the most recent has led for this stunner Swede coming to visit me in London! I so much love Thailand and its opportunities.
@@timwalker2458 I would only recommend that if it’s their first time in Thailand and never stayed in Bangkok before, if not it is better they go straight to Pattaya so that they can squeeze out as much fun as possible before their return home especially if only around for a few days.
I got a sim for 15 days from 7/11 which suited me perfectly for the short time I was there. I spent up big and stayed at the hard Rock on the reserved floors.. you get what you pay for... although it was a bit far away from Walking street. it was just a short walk to soi 6. I think it was a 20 minute walk to the buzzin lounge including being grabbed by all the girls as you walk past the bars. I would also advise grabbing a good firewall for your phone/Tablet/laptop as I was hacked and lost $2000aud. I also lost a bank card because of that money first card last thing. I worked on a budget of 5000 baht a day.. with any remainder being bounced into the next day.. but I'm not a huge drinker and was more a regular tourist than just a bar tourist.
I'm not sure whether you said LK Residence or LK President is not near a baht bus route, but the map I found suggests they both are. Is the baht bus route on 3rd road not active or nonexistent? ...I suspect the map I found is faulty because it shows no baht bus route on Soi Buakhao which you later mentioned.🙂
Just a comment to the newcomer's, some guys on here think its a big joke to get you to ring the bell,ok.Dont ever ring the bell unless you want to buy a drink for everyone in the bar, never ring rhe bell no matter gow drunk you are, some may try to con you,its a very expensive introduction to Pattaya, ok
I use AIS and i can keep my number as long as i put money on it via line pay like 10 bath extend my number for 3 month so all my contact dont need to update for a new number each time i visit
Excellent video! Any injections recommended before setting off for Thailand? Any other health recommendations before leaving for Thailand? I'm guessing mosquitto spray is the only thing. Also what's the weather like in September? Wet I believe, just how wet? lol
I went last September. and yes it rained everyday but the thing is when it rained, it only rained for a hour or less and then the rest of the day is all good. don't let rainy season worry ya 😊
Absolutely agree about the Blind School Massage Trev. It's brilliant and it's a PROPER no Hanky Panky massage. My first visit there was in 1996 and I've been to them every trip since.
I normally use Tanns taxis, she is very good and even waited once for approx 2 hours for me when my flight was delayed I think she charges 1200 baht, however her drivers can charge 100 baht more. Which is at the end of the day is only just over £1.00. So if they do overcharge by £1.00, dont give them a tip. Up to you, of course.
10 t0 15000 baht a day?? Really Trev I pay my lady 1500 baht a day, she also pays for the occasional meal for me as well. I have been seeing her for the last five years though, and no I don't pay a barfine for her either even though she does work for a bar they are very flexible with her. 😊
The bus "it's just adding another 2 hours to your journey" ........ it's not though, is it ? A taxi is not much quicker, unless they have a transporter like the Starship Enterprise to get you there instantly. 143b last time I used it ....... 168b if you book online (not a bad idea as they are often full).
Bell Travel have a bus that links up with transfers to your hotel. The only issue with buses is waiting for the departure times. If your ok with waiting then all is good
im against taxis. normal bus is 170 b, and taxi is 1200 or more but the taxi doesnt teleport there. its a 1000 saving we are talking about, thats one FL
Yeah the budget can be flexible, my first two trips I was 6 week billionaire some nights spending between 20-40k, last two trips and future trips I budget 10k a night and try to control myself better, some nights I’ll be tighter to save so I can have a couple of over the top nights.
I was over in April for songkran 10,000 a day is more than enough , then again I stayed away from the go go bars and walking street, there’s no need to go there, the gents clubs are far better
The ATM in the machine happened to me. Luckily, the security guard in Central Festival called me back over to show me I left my card in the machine. Had thar been in the US, my account would have been drained .
I got a fantastic deal on AIS ...... 100b per month including unlimited internet 4mb speed. Even though I spend 6 months or so in England, i keep it going all year..... As long as my balance covers it, they take 100 per month automatically.
10.000 baht daily... Trev, are you ting tong ? i've had an amazing time on 2500 daily including everything while i was there (not plane ticket or visa obviously). i had rich nightlife with many ladies, i have explored many things even outside of the city, even rented a bike and went to sattahip. i had many massages and my guest room was very decent. but i watch where i money goes, no drinking or smoking
best rate you can find for ST for anything that is worth doing is 1k, lady drinks cheapest are 150 upto 250 for walking street, your drinks are cheapest 80 for a beer if outside your hotel room then upto 150 and gogos dont have water cheap its all around the 130-150 mark. massages 300-400 for an hour. then we have guest room. sure you might have only spent that but i think we know you are fibbing about "rich nightlife with many ladies"
@@VibrantLivingLists you dont need to go to walking street to have rich nightlife. i had ladies from soi six 4x, gent club in soi buakhao 1x, soi pothole more than 10x and main soi buakhao a few times, and from soi honey too. and few massage ladies from sai song road. nothing wrong with that. i dont drink so its an orange juice for me which is usually 50 baht, 2 drinks for lady max then i make a decision. for the one at soi 6 i spent 1500 bf + 1500 twice, so its not cheap only
Exchange rate simplified: Baht is times 3 so figure 2,000 baht multiply by 3 gives you roughly $60.00. Or 300 baht is roughly $9.00 and for the Philippines peso it’s times 2 so 2000 peso gives you $40.00 or 200 peso gives you around $4.00 Celsius you double it and add 25, so for instance it’s 25°C you double it and that’s 50, then add 25 and you get 75°F. For hotels in square meters you multiply by 10 to get the square feet. So 31 square meters is about 310 square feet. Times 3 on the baht, times 2 on the Peso, and times 10 on square meters
@@timwalker2458the ignorance of thinking you or I matter on the internet. anyone using degrees in F are using dollars. Same with square feet. Ive always stayed at the sabai Lodge hotel now called S Lodge hotel on soi 2....its on a very quiet soi , no noisy bars nearby, big large swimming pool, nice pool bar too
I wished they had an updated Baht bus routes. I know beach road is 1 way. Soi Buakhao, the bus goes both directions, but I hear in the future Soi Buakhao might be 1 way street. I know about that 2nd road 1 way route, opposite of Beach Road. Then I saw a baht Bus, going down Soi Diana, but I don't know the entire route. I never got on a Terminal 21 baht bus.
I was in Pattaya back in late January and I wanted to stop in your bar and just have a beer and hopefully say hello to you, the only thing that stopped me was the lady's standing in front which I was kinda intimidated by then thinking they would bombard me for money so I basically chickened out and didn't go inside. 😅
Was in Pataya for just five nights in March, used it as a stopover on my way to Australia. Arrived in the Buzzin lounge and was made to feel really welcome, Boom and Ying were so lovely and helped make my visit enjoyable and that was just playing dice and pool. Will be back in November/December hopefully.

5000฿ for a day is around 152$ a day, and this is a lot. Drink in a bar is around 150฿, and boom boom is around 1500฿. In restaurants the cost is 200 ฿ a meal, my guess is that a budget of 3000฿ a day is enough.
5,000 baht won’t get you very far these days I’m afraid if you want to drink have fun you will need around 13k to 15k a day. Last trip I was not partying everyday as I’ve see it done it in Pattaya many times! So every other day I was out at night and it’s amazing how quickly you can spend money at night in Pattaya. On the days I was just chilling I spent around 5k and on nights out around 15k. In 2009 I spent 5k a day and had even better times but those days are long gone!

agreed.
That's Vegas-level playboy style! You can certainly spend that much though and you'd have an incredible time, but it's totally unnecessary.

if you plan on using a Thai sim/esim, just make sure that your cell is network unlocked.

Yeah your right, just a lot of hassle after a long haul flight for many
@@Buzzinpattaya I would rather do that than wait two hours at the airport

I have left my card in the ATM on 2 separate trips to Thailand you are so programmed from the Uk that if you have the money you can leave but like you said it’s easy to walk away without the card and can be a real nightmare. Imagine how annoying it was getting caught out again knowing this. I took a spare back up card last trip so wasn’t as bad as first time it happened but still annoying!! Cheers
Yeah it's too easy to do
Unless I have to wait a long time I take the bus from the airport. The seats are very comfortable, it has airconditioning and it's a direct connection. Easy 900-1000 baht saved.
fair one mate
Get your simcard at the airport, then you have data straight away, plenty of shops inside airport and its done and out of the way.
gotcha
Great deals with Simtac at Swampy. 👍
just wanted to say if your phone is like mines and you can't put in a different sim card, get a portable mobile hotspot at any mobile phone store. it's about the size of a small pager. you turn it on, it connects with your phones wifi, put it in your pocket and go on about your day. you hook up to it the same way you would hook up to your hotels wifi and the mobile phone store will explain it to you. yes, they are a bit pricey as they are about 1500-2000 bhat but it's well worth it to have a working phone. my data lasted 3wks and I still had lots left before I had to leave thailand.
Thanks for sharing this mate, thank you

Good video Trev. I agree with all the points you raised. To get the most "bang for your buck" in Patts and you enjoy drinking with the ladies, which is a lot of fun, you need to "splash the cash" and B10k works in most cases.

It would be nice if you highlighted bars and establishments that were owned by different nationalities. Me being from the U.S> and coming out for the first time here within the next couple of months it would be great going places that were American owned. That's absolutely not to say I would not support any other bars, but a little familiarity would be great when coming for the first time. You know you're my first stop homie!

You can now, as of July 2024, travel to Thailand without a VISA for up to 60 days. That’s from the US. I called the Thai Embassy and confirmed it.
Cheers mate
Great Tips! Thanks!
No problem!
Thank you Sir, looking forward to my visit
Safe travels
You can get a 60 day tourist visa online now. Costs about 180USD. You fill in an online form and upload things like a photo, a copy of your passport, and an image of a bank statement showing you have some money available. If the embassy is happy with everything it emails you the visa within about a week. I have just gone through this exact process and got a 60 day visa. Other than the cost it was reasonably painless. I got my visa from New Zealand. This online process only came in during March of this year. You must use the visa you get within 2 months or it becomes invalid. Cheers y'all.
cheers mate
Do u have to show proof of accommodation for the entire 60 days?
That's very costly considering they gave 90 day visas upon entry from Nov '22- April '23. I'd rather get a return flight to Cambodia or Laos for less money and you've added another country to your itinerary. I find Pattaya gets a bit repetitive after 3-4 weeks in my 14 or so visits since Feb '07.
I'm here now on 60 day e-visa from USA. It's $40 u.s. paid by credit card when you apply. Fairly simple. When it's approved you print the approval and show it at customs when you arrive. Easy. You do not need full hotel list, just for the day you arrive.
Just to add, $40 is for single entry 60 day visa. Multiple entry is different.
I've left this comment before for newbies... Don't fall in love with the first bar girl you meet and marry her in the village a month later... Im not joking!!😂
haha brilliant
I believe it, came close myself.
@@Enochsright just dont see a bar girl more than one night. Or theyll leave youre account empty Lol
As hard as it is don't fall in love at all, or don't show it too much, I believe there's actually no word for love in Thai... only westerm movies 😊.

Good point about room sizes - nothing worse than being stuck in a 22m2 room! You only make that mistake once 😂

Does Bolt quote you the price before you set off to destination?
yes. bolt will give you several options. car, motorbike, etc. and there will be a price next to each option. you pick what is best for you. the final price will be given before you confirm that you want the ride so there are no confusions
Yes it's all laid out before you get in
Great video and great advice
Thank you!
Ringing the bell in a Thailand bar you would be better off buying land near the sunken Temple,, cheaper.
when you do the math its really for suckers, 5-10 lady drinks per Round for argument sake vs 1 Leo - thats a really over priced leo, might as well drink at the hilton !
Lol
I don't know why people don't spend a day or 2 in Bangkok before heading to Pattaya, same on the way back.
@@timwalker2458 I would only recommend that if it’s their first time in Thailand and never stayed in Bangkok before, if not it is better they go straight to Pattaya so that they can squeeze out as much fun as possible before their return home especially if only around for a few days.
Yeah there are some quirky laws here
I got a sim for 15 days from 7/11 which suited me perfectly for the short time I was there.
Nice one

Just book the ticket and a hotel for at least a few days and you just can't go wrong.

Wow
I think that sounds risky because you are a foreign person. The country you are from could investigate this.
Wow that sounds cheap where did you pick the sim up from....?
Trev for new travellers I once bought a Samsung phone it was a copy and worked in Thailand but back in uk it won’t work
Yeah sadly heard this a few times
10.000 baht daily... Trev, are you ting tong ? i've had an amazing time on 2500 daily including everything while i was there (not plane ticket or visa obviously). i had rich nightlife with many ladies, i have explored many things even outside of the city, even rented a bike and went to sattahip. i had many massages and my guest room was very decent. but i watch where i money goes, no drinking or smoking
Mate it's just a level. I spend that and have a great time likewise I spend 5k and have a good time. Is just a example
Quality budgeting pal
best rate you can find for ST for anything that is worth doing is 1k, lady drinks cheapest are 150 upto 250 for walking street, your drinks are cheapest 80 for a beer if outside your hotel room then upto 150 and gogos dont have water cheap its all around the 130-150 mark. massages 300-400 for an hour. then we have guest room.
sure you might have only spent that but i think we know you are fibbing about "rich nightlife with many ladies"
Hope this helps someone. I dislike having to Google everything all the time so on the fly this is a game changer
cheers for that

5000฿ for a day is around 152$ a day, and this is a lot. Drink in a bar is around 150฿, and boom boom is around 1500฿. In restaurants the cost is 200 ฿ a meal, my guess is that a budget of 3000฿ a day is enough.
