Wonderful interview! I love David's energy and his approach to life and coaching. I love that his family appears to fuel his life. He and Cael are inspirational people to me. It looks like they are building a special culture of sportsmanship and decency. You two do a great job as match commentators, by the way. Thanks for the great interview.
I'm an Iowa fan but I must say, David is my favorite wrestler. Have been watching him since he was a freshman at PSU. Love his take on wrestling and life. I'm 60 and feel like I learned a little from him watching this interview.
Fantastic interview! I've passed it along to several of my coaching friends and officiating colleagues. David's approach to his wrestling/life balance is something to aspire to. Regardless of what you do in life you need to find other outlets to maintain your sanity. Keep up the great work!
Fantastic piece of journalism. Great concept. Professionally done. And David himself masterfully walks that edge between humble human and crazed warrior. An amazing study in discipline. A truly great interview.
As an iranian wrestling fan, I can tell you this is no longer a rivalry. DT dominates Hassan. Love watching them both. And yes, the people of Iran love DT & Jordan & Kyle Snyder. Classy champions deserve respect. That's what wrestling is all about.
my favorite part about the school i coach at has gotta be the handshakes from kids to us coaches. even the kids ive never directly coached will come up and shake/fist bump after practice. its a huge respect thing that not only they show to the coaching staff but to eachother by holding eachother accountable as well. its the biggest difference ive seen from where i went to school vs where i coach
This is an awesome video, showcasing the greatness of David beyond all the accolades from wrestling. What a humble and great family man, with the perfect little farm to boot.
What a class act I’ve watched David wrestle for years listening to him talk the knowledge humble respectful man. wrestlers are a different breed the respect the kids have it’s awsome
I remember being in high school and watching this guy wrestle as a little kid and knew he would be a beast. Amazing to see how big of a beast he became
Congratulations, FLO Wrestling on an amazing video. This is what I think more people in the wrestling community want to see. Reminded me of the F1's Drive to survive.
What a great interview, thanks! So nice to hear a super high level athlete like DT talk about how it needs to be fun for the kids. We have all seen some nightmares out there. Good for him. Great to see. Can't wait for Paris!!🔥🔥🔥
American dream, put in the work and its yours. Amazing family, amazing accomplishments, David you truly deserve every bit of it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on how you approach youth wrestling. I have twin 6yr old boys and 2yr old girl that help out with our tree farm. The farm is what gives them the good work ethic, so that way wrestling is where they channel that good work ethic. Congratulations on the new family addition coming, my wife is 3 months into our newest addition. Thank you for being an inspiration to so many.
This is somehow wonderful and refreshing...enjoy that yard fire circle!...it will be pleasant to learn how David grows more in post Olympic involvements...
Not just a great, all time, next level wrestler but now a next level coach - hopefully PARENTS listen to him and his approach being gaged to kids personalities - he is spot on
Wrestling is slowly becoming a mainstream sport and has the potential to infiltrate American culture at a high level the way it does in other countries thanks to guys like this and so many more. I’m all for it.
David makes it look so easy. I remember seeing how hungry he was last Olympics. Shooting in on single legs with his head down and just being amazed at how easy he was finishing his takedowns against the best in the world. Dake and Stevenson are legends but hen Taylor wants that single leg, he takes that shit effortlessly, man. Love the way he ran that nearside roll against JB back in the day too. #Fan boy out
As someone who previously lived in Mazandaran, Iran, and now resides in California, having also experienced life in various rural areas in the USA, I can confidently say that comparing Hasan Yazdani's living conditions to David’s is not appropriate. The two environments are fundamentally different, and only those who have seen both places can provide a fair comparison. Additionally, many wrestlers in Iran come from very impoverished backgrounds and endure significant hardships to achieve their success.
You still have to work hard but people seem to be more at ease when they have a lot of different things they thrive at even if it’s just reading books or becoming a great pianist
This is one wrestler who seems to be balanced wresting is a great sport bu5 I believe the number one key to success is having fun and not putting all your eggs in one basket
My dad dad tried farming in the depression in the thirties in northern Wisconsin dad a wrestling coach said the only thing they could grow was rocks the family pig became a meal and dad said he had to dunk kittens in the local pond but dad was tough
Dad said wrestlers did no lower body moves in the forties and the mats were made of horse hide you could get more injuries from the mats then your opponent
I think I know those mats. We had them in grade school into the eighties. We covered them with a tarp marked for wrestling, but also because the surface material did nothing but absorb and spit out dust.
Had a great time with David! He is truly a class act and wrestling is lucky to have him.

@@lexingtonconcord8751 I agree about David and Cael totally. Thanks for saying that about the commentary as well. He was awesome to work with.

Thanks to you too @christianpyles1820 If not for you guys I wouldn't be able to see a lot of the great matches.

Cael and Cody the goats😂😂😂 that is some funny stuff right there! I'd love to see their reaction to having some farm animals named after them😅!
This video truly foreshadowed Coach Cowboy Dave
Well done! Thank you
Great job all around!
I was way more invested in that pig story than I ever expected to be.
Great stuff. Great insight for an amazing wrestler

I use to worship Dan gable as a kid but wrestling should be fun
You sure are making a lot of weird comments on this video
