@@ouzykun8796Yeah, after seeing comments about 7 minute drill, despite even being a slightly better disstrack because of how longer and more direct it was, people slept on it. The media was swayed way towards Kendrick’s side. I didn’t really care though, because I felt as though that would just be inevitable, or maybe not if J. Cole drops a diss that ends it once and for all, but instead he decided to forfeit the battle, which just straight up more disappointing than the fact that the internet is biased toward Kendrick, now its literally his fault
I’m conflicted On one hand this is soft ash from Cole . At least he should hear out what Kendrick has to say in response. Meek Mill put out a diss with the Undertaker theme song that everyone clowned on and he still left it up. Icejjfish too. On the other hand I always thought of Cole as a peaceful guy, so it makes me sense seeing him stay true to himself. The album was literally called might delete later. At least alla this is making hip hop fun again. We ain’t had many good disses since Pusha T incinerated Drake. Ion get why Cole apologised for the diss track. He let Nas down again
As a cole fan, we took a fucking L. And not because of a skill issue. It's the Drake effect, cole got in his feelings, because he has been hanging around Drake for too long...
TBH I get it. We're always talking this "Essence of Hip-Hop" talk and I'm an old head (40), so I remember the battles of old, but rappers nowadays are a lot more older and wiser than the pioneers. J. Cole is 39 years old, which is more than twice the age of the 17 year old pioneers that made dissing a thing. When you think about it, what good have we ever gotten from rap beef? Remy defeated Nicki, so Nicki retired and Remy didn't put out any music = the fans lose. We lost MC Shan, Ja Rule, Canibus, and a host of other great talent, because someone else won a beef... not to mention all the artists that lost their lives due to that culture. What we all truly want is that Kendrick and Cole collab. Both Kendrick and Cole are fathers, what do they look like writing passionate critiques of each other? Not a popular take, but the culture needs to mature a bit.
Exactly rap has to mature pass that you’re right young man have dictated what goes on in this sport/art it’s time for the same men, to be mature and keep evolving to tell the actual simple truth of it all
@@Shadybiglpac 💯 even in competitive sports, you have the concept of "good sportsmanship", because their have always been adults and mentors that know that wild rivalries can spiral out of control (just look at soccer hooligans, as an example). When you have this crab in the barrel mentality, it robs us of great collab like the Cole/Kendrick album, we lose great artists, AND it promotes snubbing and gatekeeping. The word toxic is overused, but it applies here.
@@20xx-mm-dd Why? People our ages should be logical. Sure, Hip-Hop can have competition, but why does it "need" beef? Do other forms of music need beef? Other forms of artistice expressions? Even sports has the concept of "good sportmanship" amongst rivals. The truth is that beef has robbed us of lots of collaborations and good music/art, and even the lives of great artists... but it's just "weak" I guess? We shouldn't learn or mature and we should look forward to the latest rap gossip on wax.
I would love to disagree but I can’t smh. Because what’s up with all those “competitive” bars if we gonna backpedal? Like I get it because he let the world influence his response but still. Idk.
How would a fake beef, between two artists who have no real animosity towards each other, something good or cool? This is a perfect example of the shallow, fake, insincere society we live in. Obsessed with drama and conflict and insulting each other, bringing each other down at every opportunity Having these 2 rappers fake anger and resentment towards each other, all so youtubers and bloggers and record execs can make money, and fans can have someone to make fun of / diss on for “losing”. This will “breathe life into rap”? A bunch of manufactured drama and allusions to violence, borne of fake beef. Pathetic really

This comment lacks intelligence. You can’t damage an album that’s been out for years already received every possible accolade it could get. Say that his silly diss did damage. Like what you smoking? Not even j cole feels that way he was reading yall comments that’s why he lost. You can’t diss k dots albums they are far too great 😂😂😂😂😂 tf
@@JudgeMeByMyProgression Take time and actually read what I said dude.I said "The twitter folks think that way". Obviously I or J cole don't believe tpab was boring. The fact that this diss even caused this kind of conversation is the problem (jokers like adin ross calling tpab overrated and shit) Before that you would get SMOKED if you said anything about tpab but now that heat has been reduced why? Cause one of the biggest rapper just dissed it. That is what my point is. J cole saw that People were using HIS name to diss Tpab and that might have saddened him. Also to clear these are all speculation
Cole himself ain’t believe anything he said on that track. I felt like it was just bluffing especially the tpab slander. I was lowkey disappointed he even downplayed that album but now looking back at the apology it seems he was too.
@@JudgeMeByMyProgressionno he’s right. 90% of fan are sheep. They will literally create a narrative that TPAB.. a masterpiece is trash. I respect him as a human for being able to admit mistakes but hes been talking about being the goat, "putting your favourite rappers neck in a noose"... its a dissonance between how he acts and what he raps. Im still waiting on the fall off but i feel like this is a career defining moment
A lot of people are going to start realizing this was part of the point of "Like That". Like you said person to person it's respectable but he's been out here talking like a battle rapper coming for the top spot for years now and Kendrick called his bluff. Now so many Cole fans are saying "it should just be about the music, rap beef is corny anyway" but they're proving they don't really listen to what he's saying because the competition has been a HUGE part of his music this whole time. As a person I respect him, but as a rap legend he's forever got a stain on his career he put there himself because he could've just kept his head up high instead of caving to public pressure of putting out a distrack
How is this career defining? If the music is still fire who cares what is said on stage or in interviews. Plus Cole hasn't been put in a real beef situation in a while anyway. This was manufactured by Kendrick who apparently is willing to say stuff just because
The glazing from Cole fans is insane. Why are you applauding him for being "mature"? You wanted him to respond just two days ago. I like Cole a lot but this was a bitch move
So you would rather listen to music where they are dissing each other off of “fake” beef? Cause that’s what this is. Entirely fake and manufactured, pushed by fans and social media influencers that know “beef” means views and money This shows how pathetic most hip hop “fans” are. You’re more a fan of toxic drama and fake / insincere artists who are just a manufactured product designed to get maximum attention. How can there be a beef, when there’s no beef? And how would you enjoy it knowing it’s not authentic?
@@Day-ZDuke Nope. Personally, I'm much more a fan of Rap when it's just music. Not really interested in beef or diss tracks at all. Cole shouldn’t have responded in the first place. Drake probably convinced him to respond and gave him ideas of what to say. This call to action was for Drake he either need to get in the studio or completely ignore it. I commend Cole for being honest because he didn’t sound like he believed what he was saying.

@@NXMAD85 I don't think you understand. His album isn't gonna take off like it could have. Only die hard J Cole fans will be supporting him. He had the chance to back up everything he said in his music that wasn't even close to being humble and when the time came he backed down away from it. There isn't a song that can be made now that reverses this damage he self inflicted on his career. As much as his fans say it's being "humble" it comes off as soft and you can't fix that

I get that people respect that he's being true to himself by backing down from something he never wanted and I can respect it on some level. But I also gotta look back at how tough he's talked about himself throughout all the years and realize he ain't really like that. He doesn't have the spirit to be fighting for the top spot and that's fine but now all those bars throughout his discography are going to feel weak and fake in hindsight
Man fuck all that drama, I'm proud him! He know things can escalate beyond what is expected. If Pac or Biggie had even a little of J. Cole's spirit, they would still be alive today for the world to enjoy them!!! Good bless the child 🙏🏿👑

I think it was out of character for J Cole to respond and like he said he just felt pressured to. I’m not happy he did apologize but I understand and am more of a fan of his for it because I always viewed him as more mature to get baited like that. I feel like the diss was more aimed at Drake and Cole just caught some bars by association. J Cole is a bigger person than I could ever be. Kendrick is unarguably the better artist but this was J Cole’s chance to prove he was the better rapper through the beef. I want with all my being to say he didn’t want that kong fu kenny smoke but I truly think he just didn’t want to get that respect from beefing with someone he truly admires and loves. Weird feelings for all hip hop fans rn tho. Kdot still gets a 1v1 with Drake tho 😈
As a big time cole fan that apology didn't sit rite!! He's been asking for beef for forever and he got it and now he's apologizing!!!!! Years ago he did a freestyle where he mentioned biggie had pac and Jay had Nas but he had diggy I think his name was. Now he got Kendrick and he's already tryna squash it
Bro apologizing ain’t never been a weak thing depending on the context. I respect J Cole bro. Especially if there is something behind the scenes J Cole knows and understands about Kendrick… Quite sure J know things we don’t know about K-Dot personally, why we so competitive as a culture!!! Let’s talk about that!!! Why cats just can’t be Great! Why they have to be the Greatest!! This what the Romans were like…&That’s Demonic!…Yea see!! They killed Christ!! Man,Let J Cole live! the culture is bloodthirsty like J said!!! Sad!! The Culture need therapy!!
J Cole didn't admit defeat in any possible way. He simply has a conscious that disagrees with the beef he put out. Just because Kendrick calls him out, doesn't mean he has to be involved. He has been very open about supporting both drake and Kendrick. It was obvious he didn't have any real beef with either. Real fans saw this coming from a mile away. He has a pure heart.
Well as a J Cole fan, seeing your brothers fight or beef with each other is inside sad, from outside we dk how close they were as we weren't there with them, so Cole saying that he felt inflicted after releasing that, we should respect his feeling toward his bros who he thought were his competition not opposition.
i am a bit disappointed. kdot stepped up the game and jcole just shut it down because of his personal feelings?! this is hiphop not street killing. this is just a word on, skill and facts battle no more no less and jcole still dont wanna fight. man jcole really hit the "mainstream" rapper huh
I personally believe this could be a ploy to get Kendrick to release whatever he potentially has up his sleeve so just Cole can turn around and release his secret weapon(s). Cole did actually say he’ll hold his head up and take whatever Kendrick had on the chin so give it all he’s got. I personally feel don’t fall for it Kendrick. This is chess!
I think a lot of people looking at this from a young man's perspective. You got to remember who j Cole is as a person. He doesn't really like confrontation. And I know it surprising given what industry he's in, but he doesn't want to fight someone. He said that in the song twice that he didn't want to fight Kendrick and that people been hunting him down and begging him for a toxic reply which is why he didn't even create such a heavy diss track is because he didn't want to do it to begin with and that it's just not was right in his spirit. And one unfortunate thing about hip hop is the community loves toxic behavior. And for Cole this right here was just enough to make him realize this is not something that he wants to do cuz it doesn't sit right with him. The fact that he even put negativity out in the world for him I respect him for it.
I don't. I'm an old man and I know that true wisdom is keeping your mouth shut in the first place, and if you do choose to talk, back up your words. Thats true hip hop, thsts real. Cole wants the benefits of the beef with none of the work and effort that it takes. Its weak and honestly I respect him a lot less than I would have if he would have kept his mouth shut. A giant doesn't need to move unless provoked and he just proved that "arms too short" Kendrick provoked him to write an entire track, after one or two bars. And then "U N O" Cole backs off before he even gets a response. This is weak. No way to spin this one.
Hip Hop is a blood sport we’ve had too many rappers come in and try and be Gandhi in here when rap is about PROVING you’re better than your peers especially when you’re challenged.
Well I was looking forward to where this rivalry was going, but I still respect J Cole for this He is already a top 3 and his legacy in the rap game is already sealed, and he did all of that without constant dissing or beefing with anyone. That just tell us the kind of artist he is, and if diss rap is not on him then it is for the best he doesn’t indulge further After all no matter how good bars J cole may have againts Kendrick, the youtube critics are still going to gass up Kendrick so why bother giving it your all to a un winnable battle and then losing a friend in the end? ( ex: Fantano and. His constant Kendrick meat ridding). Respect for Cole
All I can think of is the laws of power appear weak… or cole is trying escape the reality of rap, the bridge is over, hit em up, ether, the takeover you can’t escape it
Law 8: Make other people come to you, use bait if necessary.. Fam, he literally lyrically slap you and your man's at the same time and you respond with a warning and then you apologize. Get the F out of the way. Go kill another "Lil what's his name" because this the BIG LEAGUE! Mr. 3 no more Shadow Boxing go grad Drake towel or something. Meek, you're so lucky.
Tbh I think Cole is making a pretty smart move here. He responds to Kendrick with a “warning shot” (even though he basically said everything he could possibly diss Kendrick about and some of it was even false like the bars about Kendrick’s discography. He knows he can’t go toe to toe with Kendrick in a rap beef ( just compare the bars in Kendricks like that verse and the bars in 7 minute drill and the fact that Cole’s “paying homage” bars are just him biting other more skilled rappers bars), so he apologises to Kendrick as a way to back out of the beef before Kendrick has a chance to respond. If Kendrick responds now he will look like the petty one and Cole will take the moral high ground. So apologising is a win win for Cole since his fans think he bodied Kendrick with 7 minute drill ( even though he had a full song and Kendrick only had a verse which was mainly targeted at drake in the first place) and he gets the promotion for the fall off ( whether good or bad promotion is promotion). Fair play to Cole he gets to save face.
@@KingBenny Once you make diss tracks about each other specifically, it’s beef. Look at what Cole said about what he thought about Kendrick’s albums and lack of studio time. That’s personal. That’s the reason he apologized, cause he didn’t really have a reason to make it personal but that’s the only way diss songs work is if they’re personal. Then on top of that, despite Kendrick barely referencing Cole in his verse, a lot of people said Cole STILL didn’t do enough simply because it was Kendrick (which was ridiculous) and they clearly wanted it to be even MORE personal. Friendly competition is both of you calling yourself the goat and putting out your best work, and maybe some light jabs here and there. Diss tracks are for real beef in my opinion.
Y’all trying to make it seem like the only time you can be competitive is when you’re beefing naw Kenny wanna see how they really cooking and Cole just got out the kitchen.
I've always thought that J Cole was the "nice guy" of the Big 3. The dude that is extremely talented and prefers not to get into drama/disputes. He just wants to release his music and chill. So although I don't like the fact that he apologized, it seems 100% spot-on for his overall character.
J. Cole didn’t apologize all he said is that the track he made was lame because his heart wasn’t into it and he just did it to please the fans and he doesn’t like doing that. He likes doing his own thing and not fall into the hype.
I think it’s so stupid that people are upset that J Cole “apologized” and that he’s not “Big 3” for it. Him and Kendrick used to have a pretty close relationship and I really don’t think anything happened between them that caused them to fall out. It seems that Cole probably understands that he doesn’t need to choose sides in this “Hip Hop War” thing going on and that he’s just a dude trynna make great music. These dudes for the most part going at it over a female for the most part which has nothing to do with Cole.
I'm so sick of seeing this cope everywhere. I get that he didn't want smoke and I can respect him backing down from someone he respects but on ALL of his albums he talks about destroying rappers and ending careers and sending home in bodybags. Now all of that comes off so fucking corny. If it was just about making great music then he needs to stop talking like he's an underground battle rapper like he has been for YEARS and saying he's fighting for the number one spot when he ain't really like that.
@@edd8390 If he bodies everybody’s favorite artists on features how is he not like that? Kendrick 1 Cole 2 and Drake 3 and it’s been that way the whole time I’m not denying that. But it’s stupid to say “He’s not competitive cause he apologized.” Who cares! I respect it. Everybody want discourse nowadays when we already got plenty of that to deal with in the world. Don’t really care for rap disses anyways. Peace be with you all.
I believe in Cole, I personally think he’s one of the best lyricists out atm, but apologizing…. In a rap “beef” that’s just to see who’s more skilled than the other makes me think he doesn’t actually believe he’s the best and he’s just been saying that because it sounded good😕 If he went blow for blow with Kendrick he’d get hella praise because people doubted him, but with this he basically just confirmed all of the hater’s beliefs and biases against him🤦🏼 it’s just a sad day for Cole fans atm
I pretty much agree with everything you said in this. Plus he didn't like the discourse and that's probably because they're was less debating and more choosing sides
I think the way people react to this shows how weakminded and immature our culture still is. How there is a parasocial relationship with artists. How fragile masculinity/ego is. What Cole did is imo the most based and authentic move in hiphop and I respect him so much for it. When he dropped a response I thought 'why do you care/are you getting in on this? This seems so unlike you.' Its so cringe to get into this kind of beef. Its hiphop, everyone should call themselves the goat, its just bars. It doesnt matter how good/bad the diss was. The fact that he looked inside of himself and lost sleep over this, that he felt like he betrayed hos authentic self and then proceeded to express that even tho everyone would hate on him... It is so fucking cool that he stays true to himself and uses this as a moment to grow mentally and spiritually. To realize that he gave in to peer pressure and express it as a mistake. People acting like he did it because he was scared or so, maybe, but you are just making hella assumptions to fit your narrative. The facts is that he felt a type of way and expressed it because that is his authentic self. Anybody hating on that is just cringe, immature and has a parasocial relationship with hiphop where they want beef to bring slmething exciting to their life. I think Kendrick is the goat, but Cole showed us that he is true to himself and continuously willing to grow as a person. That is the best and coolest example anyone can set

Cole needs to stop all that talk about being the greatest. Talk about folding clothes or something.
Weak. I would have thought someone closer to my age would understand it. Hop hop needs competition.
Blah blah blah
@@20xx-mm-dd Why? People our ages should be logical. Sure, Hip-Hop can have competition, but why does it "need" beef? Do other forms of music need beef? Other forms of artistice expressions? The truth is that beef has robbed us of lots of collaborations and good music/art, and even the lives of great artists... but it's just "weak" I guess? Good for you cole, people don't know the value of peace.
That’s like if you’re a boxer and talk about how you can whoop anybody’s ass and then when you finally get challenged you back down
Hip Hop is a blood sport we’ve had too many rappers come in and try and be Gandhi in here when rap is about PROVING you’re better than your peers especially when you’re challenged.
Nas dropped Ether,
Cold dropped the ball,
Nas aint ever acknowledging you at all
Well I was looking forward to where this rivalry was going, but I still respect J Cole for this
He is already a top 3 and his legacy in the rap game is already sealed, and he did all of that without constant dissing or beefing with anyone. That just tell us the kind of artist he is, and if diss rap is not on him then it is for the best he doesn’t indulge further
After all no matter how good bars J cole may have againts Kendrick, the youtube critics are still going to gass up Kendrick so why bother giving it your all to a un winnable battle and then losing a friend in the end? ( ex: Fantano and. His constant Kendrick meat ridding).
Respect for Cole
Kendrick is better than cole. Always has been, always will be.
Let them meat ride. It's hip hop. It's competitive. If you can't handle it you are not the goat. J Cole cannot claim goat status any more.
Okay, I get it from that perspective.
He ain't feeling like Ali anymore
I was a huge Cole fan until today. He doesn't save face, he loses respect.
How much yall wanna bet this whole beef was planned and the cole/Kendrick album actually is coming
The whole hip hop community encouraging a fake rap beef is highly disappointing.🤦🏽♂️
Exactly
It's not beef like we ate each other but like competition
@@FatherDaughterDuoReactions I just personally don’t respect fake beef. Seems feminine 🤷🏽♂️
I've always thought that J Cole was the "nice guy" of the Big 3. The dude that is extremely talented and prefers not to get into drama/disputes. He just wants to release his music and chill. So although I don't like the fact that he apologized, it seems 100% spot-on for his overall character.
I'm not mad at Cole, I'm just disappointed.
Yeah, I'm both😡😂
They "used to". Past tense.
@@edd8390 If he bodies everybody’s favorite artists on features how is he not like that? And y’all have no complaints about Drake saying he’s number 1 while having ghost writers, getting smoked by the supposed “Bronze rapper” on his own song like he was scared to even try to compete, and avoiding Kendrick altogether? Kendrick 1 Cole 2 and Drake 3 and it’s been that way the whole time I’m not denying that. But it’s stupid to say “He’s not competitive cause he apologized.” Who cares! He sent a somewhat personal shot at Kendrick and it didn’t sit right with him to get personal. That does not mean he’s not competitive.
@@StatusSymbol dude, all the features on the project he just dropped rapped just as good if not better than him. You're just coping at this point, Cole himself just backed down for the competition
@@edd8390 I’m not even talking about his project. I’m talking about him getting on everybody else’s songs and smoking them. You’re delusional if you say otherwise. I’m not “coping” tf I literally just said Kendrick is number 1 and Cole is 2. He decimates everybody on they own songs. 🤷🏾♂️
“Dammit Cole!”….-Martin Payne
I respect Cole man. Hiphop fandom is toxic fr.
Now we are getting a collab album (Im delusional)
I respect it. Everybody want discourse nowadays when we already got plenty of that to deal with in the world. Don’t really care for rap disses anyways. Peace be with you all.
Gets knocked out, gets back up and slaps the dude and then immediately apologizes
J cole the new big sean
💀💀💀💀
Idc who wins, we better get the collab album
I hope Kendrick fires back harder. Wtf is Cole doing
On some “FINISH HIM”
I believe in Cole, I personally think he’s one of the best lyricists out atm, but apologizing….
Man I've been hating on Cole since his reply. Glad I can finally stop pretending he's trash now
Cole about to drop a new track called ‘Just Kidding’ and diss him all over again
😂😂😂😂
Honestly I feel like no matter how Cole handled this, it would have been a lose lose situation for him in the eyes of the public
Idk about that 😂 if he would’ve out rapped him it wouldn’t have been a issue but apologizing I wasn’t expecting that
@@LarryHoov fair point, but even if Cole did drop another track and outrapped Kendrick, i highly doubt the Kendrick stans would give Cole that credit.
I like that you shout out J Dilla at the end. In historic fashion, know to love his brethren but also never waivered on the mic.
6:31 he put himself there !!
This seems so unlike you.'
Its so cringe to get into this kind of beef.
