Tailpieces and Fine Tuners: Best Options - Classic Violins

Violins, violas, cellos, as well as double bass, all share some common similarities in regards to how they are physically set up, with the tailpiece being one of them. I’m a professional with 4 fine tuners (lightweight titanium) on a lightweight pernambuco tailpiece. Often when playing chamber music in concert, we need to be in tune precisely. This works best for me- especially since it doesn’t weigh down the tailpiece. I have other professional friends who dislike the look but oddly enough have trouble being as in tune (due to pegs not being able to make such fine adjustments as easily).

What I do on my Cello is use Geared tuners so that it's easier to tune. The Violins in the hupfeld phonolist violina have guitar style tuners too.
