Mine arrived yesterday. Very impressive! This is what I'd hoped my two previous (portable) paddles would be like! Far, far better than any of the 3-D printed ones I've tried. I'll be using these as my go-to roving paddles for long time to come!
Danke, Wrangler.
One of my favorite paddles now. Thank you. The adjustability of this paddle is insane. Individually you can adjust travel from longer than you would ever want all the way down to 0. You can also adjust the resistance from ultra light to way heavy per paddle. My thumb needs a different travel and resistance to feel matched with the index finger.
Found this on Ninja's list a while back. Just opened it today and immediately ordered another one!! By far my favorite paddle so far. Thanks for the videos!
Hi, greetings from the UK! Very informative video. I am very happy you did this review as I think I found a good option for me. I believe it is similar to the finesse and agility of a Begali without the extra weight. Size and ergonomics seems perfect to me.
Another great review. I've been wondering about the performance of that key. The key always looked so elegant, but your review shows that it really is an engineering masterpiece. Now I have one more piece of SOTA gear to drool over. 73.
Glad to see this one. I’ve purchased a case for my first QCX from Marcus and almost ordered the 2. No it looks like the 3 is on the list. Thank you for the insight.
Great review! I saw this key on the QRP CW channel. No review or comment, but the paddle caught my attention. I have been trying to find an in-depth review before I ordered one. Your review pushed me over proverbial edge to place the order. Now I just need some patience while waiting to receive it! Thanks for the video, Charlie!
I own this key and love it. It's beautifully made and solid feeling. As others have experienced, I didn't need to make any adjustments - it's very comfortable out of the box. This is my first key with (removable) rubber on the paddles and it makes a surprising difference in the way your fingers "purchase" the key. I think more keys should have that option - although I guess you could "plasti-dip" a key. You need to supply your own cable btw. 73.
I love that brand, I don't have one yet because I am still in the process of learning morse code. I would probably get the Mini Morse Taste. Thank you for sharing.
So happy I came across your channel. Excellent content and excellent presentation style. I'm an avid QRP op and this is right up my alley hihi. I have the TP-II now for a couple years and it is superb; right up there with the Begalis in terms of my go to paddles. I subscribed today. Thanks es 72, Brent VA3YG
I'm curious to know how it compares to the Begali keys you've used. I have a Begali Expedition in the shack, but am looking for something to use in the field for SOTA activations. The Bamakey and the Begali Adventure are on my short-list, but would love to hear from someone who has experience with both. Any thoughts?
Of course Brent should chime in here as I'm sure your comments are directed to him. While I haven't used a Begali yet, I will be reviewing the Begali Adventure in a about a month. I'm barrowing one from a friend and will be field testing it first. That video, when released, should help answer this question too. I am interested in what Brent has to say about this as well. I hope he returns and sees your question.
Hello! I have a cwmorse paddle and I realized it gets stuck sometimes, I use a rf choke to make sure it's not rf return. Thus I came to the conclusion that ill just have to get a better one and I think this is the one but it's too expensive for me. Would you know of another good paddle costing 120 less?
This one sure is great but I understand it is a bit expensive. There is none that compares in quality to this one, that I've tested. I'm actually using a cwmorse right now and haven't had your problem. That's the problem with paddles, isn't it? Over time, some don't hold up as well as others. $120 less puts it at about $80 for your price range if it's still the same price. Maybe that Brazilian Mini or this one? th-cam.com/video/NyylS9iRreA/w-d-xo.html By the way, how long have you had your cwmorse paddle?
The wait is infinite if you don’t order and only gets shorter each day after you order. It took about 8 weeks for my BamaKey last winter, got it in plenty of time for spring and the rest of the year. Awesome key. Wish they made a mono paddle (I’ve asked).
Good morning, I understand that you connected your transceiver to a speaker in order to let us hear in this video. But, if no speaker is connected, will you still hear sound coming out from this transceiver whenever you press the key? Another question: is my observation correct that you did not connect an antenna to your transceiver in this video?
That particular transceiver I was using does not have a built in speaker. Most commercial transceivers do have a speaker and wouldn't need an external one. But this particular one is a kit and has no speaker, so no, you wouldn't hear the tones when you press the key on this transceiver (QCX Mini) I did not connect an antenna to the transceiver, nope. I connected a dummy load to it instead so I wouldn't damage the radio. And to be doubly certain I wouldn't damage the radio, I operated it in practice mode.
Hi, I don't know which country you are located. Do you know whether this German made key can work in the US and Canada where the voltage is generally 120 V?
If this paddle uses any power at all it will draw it from the radio. But I would be surprised if it draws power. It will work on any standard ham radio, so voltage is irrelevant. It will work in US and Canada, yes.
@@kurt53641 oh boy. This is always the rub with overseas shipments now, isn't it. IT's gotten so much worse since Covid. I guess it makes you appreciate it more once it actually arrives.

What a beautiful key. Looks very well made and too nice to abuse. What’s the charge to get a receipt for what I told my wife it cost? Nah. I can’t bring myself to pay > $100 for a key/paddle.
haha yeah I get it. People are all along that scale from "cost is no object" all the way down to "I refuse to pay a cent - I homebrew mine". I am trying to review paddles in all ranges, best I can. It strikes me as odd they put the band there for nothing else but "promotion" cheers og4u
Hi Timo. Thank you for checking out the video. I actually asked Markus from BaMaTech about the strap and he confirmed it was indeed just for promotion. It's a nice strap but nothing more. I can see how it might appear odd to hold a key for those who work CW from the shack, but it is a quite common way to operate from the field. Your engagement is truly appreciated and I hope to hear from you again. Cheers! Charlie NJ7V
