I would recommend waiting until you see the autosave icon before sending everyone home. I found that during multiplayer as long as you see that go off all progress is saved until that point.
I started playing 9 days ago. 5 days in and I caught it during a visit to a different island using a nooks miles ticket. Oarfish then a tuna then a Ceolacanth and yesterday a Blue Marlin.
Random info on sea bass shadow VS coelacanth shadow: They are difficult to tell apart, but there are a few subtle differences from what I’ve noticed. The sea bass shadow has a rounder head, and the tail sways faster than a rare fish shadow. A coelacanth shadow is slender and has some extra length on it, and the tail sways much more slowly than a bass shadow. I also don’t know this for sure, but coelacanths have roughly a 1% chance of spawning. There is also a much smaller window when it bites, aka you need to be slightly quicker with your reaction timing than with another (more common) fish.
I’m actually really impressed with your composure during this video, ..and patience. Because I...would have lost my....yeah you get it. This iS an age old problem. I used to visit my son’s NL island and get all these sharks and stuff then when I went back to my town. POOF! Definitely why the balloons and not work on this. “...if you’ve popped more than 300 balloons, you have another problem.” 😂😂 ohhh..classic. Enjoy so much., thanks for all your hard work. 🤘🏻😁
So just an FYI from the time you caught the first one to the time that you booted them all out the game did not save. I re-watched and it never saved. I'm wondering if that is what caused it.

First off I'd like to offer my condolenses for that first lost Coel and say thank you for bringing another awesome video! Unfortunately, the hot garbage that is the hosting happens - During the fishing contest earlier this month we had a full island of 8 and after we all got 300 someone disconnected and reset a chunk of progress. From what I've seen most disconnections have happened from people using the - button. We ended up having a designated saver, they'd leave via the airport to force save then come back, Of course this has a chance to disconnect too but from what I've seen it's less of a chance. After this happened I employeed a friend of mine to do some testing, we spent about six hours [roughly 3 for both tests] - We concluded that he disconnected significantly [over double] when using the - button than he did when he left via the airport. Maybe it's a bug, maybe it's the trash hosting, maybe it's both but it does seem to be an issue that needs to be fixed ASAP.
Truthfully I didn't know the coelacanth was THAT big a deal. I just caught one earlier on a ticket island by random chance and since this my first Animal Crossing, the only things tipping me off that it was even a little special were the sheer size, the fact that I hadn't caught one before, and that I knew what a coelacanth was beforehand. I would love to get another one, because I don't know if I can part with my only one to give it to the museum, as it looks real nice in my house. It's easily my second favorite find after my pet snapping turtle Raphael.

I think another helpful tip to those who are on a mission for this fish: Go to an island with your Nook Ticket. Cause that’s how I caught mine..and I’ve only had this game for 4days now.😅😅 It happened to be raining on the little island and I walked over to this big fish shadow on the left and he probably nibbled maybe 4 times cautiously and Boooommmm it was a Coelacanth. I was absolutely shookith..👀 wasn’t even looking for him honestly. Anyways, good job youtuber for persisting🤩🤩 and most of all holding your tongue from fowl language.😅 I bet it was super frustrating.

He has more fish than I have, but he doesn't have a Freshwater Goby or a Blue Marlin like I have. But he has Coelacanth, Stringfish and a few other good ones. Also he barely ever impulses catching a fish.

What I’m predicting happened is that the island will autosave to a server that syncs all members individual servers, and then on a different span of time the server data is saved locally to each individual persons game file. So it may autosave to the server but if there is a disconnect issue or you disconnect from server before it’s saved locally (which is not displayed anywhere) it will not save the contents from that span of time. It’s possible they did this to (maybe) prevent trolling, or it’s j a huge oversight. This would explain why if one person disconnects there is a crash for everyone, unlike most other online games where it just crashes that one person. There requires a positive connection to each individual server.
I don't know if you know this, but booting them can cause the error, they should leave through the airport. Learned this from trading and cataloging with people. Tons of post saying booting or quietly leaving can cause both parties to lose items.

pearlsbubbletea it depends on what you want in the game, if you like collecting everything and your more of a completionist then donate it but if your trying to pay off loans or just like getting money in general then sell it, just make sure you know the last month you can possibly get it because you dont want to have to wait a year just to get another oarfish.

Today I checked and got a red mum in the mix. Idk if it is because they are from mystery island tour or what. Thanks for that video though!

I started to get the feeling that thered be meteror showers when she mentioned her horoscope, so I fast traveled to that night to see if Celeste would be around. So far haven't seen Celeste but there were just some shooting stars!

In other words, the "rollback" should only roll back to the last save. By the way, since you caught that fish, I didn't see that turning wheel at the top right of the screen... or was there?
AbdallahSmash026 hm there is this situation: Person A travels to B’s island by online, drop a chair and let B pick up, wait 3 minutes or more, and then press the Sleep / Power button for half second, wait 3 seconds and “un sleep”. Now everybody is rolled back but the chair still should be the last save, which is in B’s pocket
@@AbdallahSmash Also, you can wait that 3 minutes (and make sure it auto saved), and then Person A and Person B both drop a bag of Bells on the ground, and now make sure no autosave any more, and press that Power / Sleep button. Now when you wake up, you can see those bags of Bells gone from the ground and is back to Person A and B (rolled back), but that chair is still transferred to Person B

You know how when one person leave, both him and your Switch will give that dang-dang-dang sound and save the game? When your game is saved, then you are safe. The other 6 people can have bad connection whatsoever and it doesn't matter

The funny things is I was trying to get the mahi-mahi from the pier (it was raining) I walked up to the pier and cast my rod. The first fish I caught was a Coelcanth The second fish I caught was the mahi-mahi
Can confirm it is the bad net infrastructure. According to an article on ending sessions: "Leaving quietly puts you, and everyone else on the island, at risk of losing all progress. We’d recommend not doing that, and if you’re on a huge island of 8 people, the host can press the ‘-’ button and select ‘end session’ to get rid of everyone nice and quickly whilst not losing all their data." So, he did the right thing ending the session in that manner.
I went on this hunt yesterday and got it within 5 min also got an oar fish in those same 5 mins and I definitely use the eye close method oh and I got the sturgeon

I caught one within my first week. It's almost always raining on my island, so I guess that made it easier.

Online play only saves when someone officially goes home.

The funny things is I was trying to get the mahi-mahi from the pier (it was raining) I walked up to the pier and cast my rod.

Can confirm it is the bad net infrastructure. According to an article on ending sessions:
"Leaving quietly puts you, and everyone else on the island, at risk of losing all progress. We’d recommend not doing that, and if you’re on a huge island of 8 people, the host can press the ‘-’ button and select ‘end session’ to get rid of everyone nice and quickly whilst not losing all their data."
So, he did the right thing ending the session in that manner.
