    I feel like I am watching the "Zizekization" of TH-cam / Breadtube in realtime. I wish I could make timestamps for this discussion, but I will "circle" back to it one day once I finish some projects where I am following actionable advice from really insightful discussions such as this. Keep up the great interviews Dr. Lain!

    This is interesting. Zizek actually did the Lacan book in Critchley’s “How to Read” series. Incredible book and incredible series.

    What’s the intro and Outro song I know he posted it a while ago but I can’t remember what it is and I can’t find the video

      The intro is an untitled piece by Nik Walton, an Oregon composer who is a friend of mine. The outro is from Epidemic Sound. I forget the title.

    Douglas Coupland! I consoled myself, after Bernie Sanders' loss by sharing his "Post-Cold War Marxist/Maoist Analysis of Decadent Breakfast Cereals" with a friend.

    the hypocrisy of Diva Jada Pinkett Smith's response to Rock's GI Jane joke is evident in earlier video in which she shows off her condition, all smiles, and says she embraces it happily.

    The importance of neoclassical economics in this can't be under-stated. Disrespect is one thing, telling people to remove their welfare states and public deficit funding broadly as part of IMF loans is another. All the while the US maintains an "extra lane" of deficit spending (military profits) to buy up property titles around the world. Sovereign spending for me, mercantilism for thee. Turning countries into companies. There's a problem as long as the fantasy is held up that government debt over ~60% of GDP limits economic growth (all the issues aside regarding GDP as a measure in the first place). The major study to "prove" such a causation only shows correlation. While MMTers like Kelton suggest the causation is backwards, the government debt causes political leaders to be vulnerable to cutting spending when they should expand it.

    • @curiousfella4076
      @curiousfella4076 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kelton refers to that circumstance of public debt and GDP in an interview with Varoufakis btw.

    Interesting until the steps into politics. The analogy to the Zone / Tarkovsky is poorly misplaced. An American and a Brit talking about global politics given their roles in global exploitation, mass death and displacements is pretty repulsive to listen to. Critchley does get it in some part (re Russian vilification) but his examples are frivolous.

    Gotta admit. Couldn't resist the $1.93 purchase price for the Kindle book.
