_Yaman also known as Kalyaan, Iman, Aiman,'Eman', 'Kalyani' in Carnatic classical music, is a heptatonic (Sampurna) Indian classical raga of Kalyan Thaat. Its signature phrase (Pakar) is ni-Re-Ga-/Re-Ga/ni-Re-Sa/Pa-Ma#-Ga-Re/ni-Re-Sa' (Ma is teevra). This raga promotes romanticism, It sounds romantic, we can see in bollywood many romantic songs are based on this raga._

The flutist is paras nath. Remember the name. Please see jagjit singhji s concert where he songs koyi fariyaad and paras nath plays the flute during the interval between sher 1 and sher 2. Unbelievable

Pratibha is ready to take the legacy of Rekha bhardwaj and other classical singers forward. She is doing true justice to Indian classical music. Amazing tonal quality. Blown away by other 3 musicians. They are out of this world. Love the flute n violin especially. Tabla players name has not been mentioned. That’s not fair.

First song nam gum jaega is sung by Lata, composed by RD Birman for movie Kinara, second song kaheen ye wo to naheen is sung by Lata composed by Madan Mohan for movie Haqeeqat , third song tu jahan jahan chale ga is sung by Lata composed by Madam Mohan for movie saya. From where does great Mehdi Hasan comes in ?

It's Raag "Yaman - Kalyan". There is no such Raag in Indian Classical Music named 'Aiman'. It is Yaman from Kalyan Thaat. Although, due to the pronunciations from different cultures and accents of different parts of the world, it is sometimes pronounced as 'Iman, Eman, Yemen, Aiman' in the Middle East and Western countries.
From ancient times, it used to be Kalyan; but later, the Islam and the Middle East influence took over a major part of Hindustani classical music and many Islamic and Sufi effects were seen in Hindustani classical music, but not much in Carnatic Classical Music. In Carnatic Classical Music, it is called "Kalyani".
Also, the song from 10:05 - "Tu Jahnaan Jahaan Chalegaa" is based on Raag Nand, not Yaman.
Aiman is indianized name for the raag.
Ppl also need to know the history of evolvement of hindustani classical music.Ppl in Pak may have reservation calling it Kalyan or Yaman and term it aimaan or something else. Thanks for providing this Info..
Well actually Yaman and Yaman kalyan are two different ragas. The one you just heard in front of you, I'd say this is Yaman Kalyan because of the presence of Shudh Madhyam here and there. On that note, the Yaman in hindustani classical music becomes Kalyani in carnatic and Yaman kalyan becomes Yamunakalyani.

سنتوش آنند 1939 میں سکندر آباد میں پیدا ہوئے، یہ بلند شہر کا چھوٹا سا قصبہ تھا، فضا میں اردو، تہذیب اور جذبات تینوں رچے بسے تھے چناں چہ وہاں کا ہر پہلا شخص شاعر اور دوسرا سخن شناس ہوتا تھا، سنتوش جی ان ہوائوں میں پل کر جوان ہوئے۔
علی گڑھ مسلم یونیورسٹی سے لائبریری سائنس کی ڈگری لی اور حالات کے کندھوں پربیٹھ کر فلم انڈسٹری کے دروازے پر آ گرے، 1970 کی دہائی بھارت میں فلم انڈسٹری کے عروج کازمانہ تھا اور سنتوش آنند نے فلم پورب اور پچھم کے گانے لکھے اور پھر پیچھے مڑ کر نہ دیکھا، ان کا فلمی کیریئر زیادہ لمبا نہیں تھا، انھوں نے صرف 26 فلموں میں 109 گانے لکھے اور فلم انڈسٹری نے انھیں چپ چاپ سائیڈ پر رکھ دیا، یہ ابھی تک حیات ہیں، عمر 81سال ہے، ٹانگوں سے معذور ہیں، ہاتھوں میں رعشہ اور زبان میں لکنت آ چکی ہے اور انھیں بولنے اور لکھنے دونوں میں دقت ہوتی ہے لیکن یہ اپنے دو گانوں کی وجہ سے آج بھی سننے والوں کے حافظے میں زندہ ہیں۔

What a voice! Soothing and beautiful. By the way, there is no raag called 'Aiman'. At best, 'Aiman' is a mispronunciation. Yaman, Yaman - Kalyan, Imon/Emon (Bengali), Kalyani (Carnatic), these are the names this beautiful raag is known by.
Yaman is also known as Emaan or Aiman in West Asia. Hindustani classical has a rich tradition extending beyond the borders of the country. Let’s be accepting of the diversity and variations.

In Pakistan, they pronounce it as Aiman. One can call it dialectical, regional, geographical change.
actually the word was Aiman only, invented by legendary Amir khusro.It is a Persian word from origin point of view.
Gradually it turned into Yaman in Kalyan thaat,(family)in our part of world due to pronunciation ease..
