Interest rates are NORMAL now. They should stay where they are or higher for a long time. This is what NORMAL looks like. Free money is NOT NORMAL. Unlimited debt is NOT NORMAL.

Interest rates will continue to rise until inflation gets back to normal levels. Expect the BoC rate to be 6-7% by this time next year...or higher.

Regardless of high interest rates are houses will still be unaffordable unless they come down pre/2017 level.

Well i don’t think it would happen . In fact once they lower the interest rates I feel like we would see a bloodbath. Prices will be back up and another bidding war. Vicious cycle that I don’t quite understand .

What are your thoughts on the recent Paul Beaudry’s recent speech in Victoria about the long term pity for higher for longer rates?

home price creeps up again once they pause hiking. That's a solid proof that Canadian are rich enough to handle much higher rate probably due to the wage growth in recent years.

Biggest problem are the investors that are artificially increasing the prices of homes that they will never live in. Genuine home buyers who will live in their new home for years are suffering due to the greed of investors. There should be high interest rate or property taxes for people who own multiple properties.

What is everyone crying about? Rates are still almost HALF of historical norms. Probably should've done the math before taking on that million dollar mortgage.
    In debt much?

    1)Tenants lose
    2)Landlords do nothing and lose
3)Landlords transition to STR/MTR and win. Also revert back to 1)
What a mess, but sure are interesting times.

I lived in Calgary in the 80' s when interest rates went to 21%. You probably were not even born, so this is a joke when people are complaining 🤔
