Absolutely adore my A1 Mini. It is so far ahead of other FDMs. The price is amazing too. I like it so much, it has a bigger brother A1 in the house too. I did the barbarian with the stock .2 settings and it was very good. I can hardly imagine how much better Tom's profiles will be.
Hey, I had a question. Just got mine, and when I put my filament into the feeder, it doesnt go in and just gets shoved back out, i cant do/print anything with it, do you have any suggestions on how to help
I really wish this video came out 2 months ago. I just spent 20+ hours over the holidays diagnosing issues with my ender 3 printers. Fixing extruders, leveling beds, buying new beds, fixing clogs, replaced a dozen nozzles etc...
I have been grateful to Tom for quite a few years now for his outstanding help. Now I hate him because if Tom says it is a good printer then it is a damn good printer and I have to buy one, thanks pal! Seriously though, I have been waiting on Tom's thoughts on this machine because he is such a respected maker in the 3D printing community.
Totally agree. Just starting to print miniatures. Tom, your review I saw yesterday started a 3 hour research on the A1 and A1-mini and I used your affiliate link to purchase a A1-combo last night. Hope you get credit. Appreciate your reviews and tech-saviness. Helped me get my Ender 3v2, 2 years ago. Appreciate you and your shop! Tom M.
Purchased an A1 through your affiliate link. Thank you! You are the creator that finally pushed me over the edge. I’ve been debating for a while now, and your video showed the things I want to do and your results look terrific.
Great stuff to know. I made the jump from a creality ender 3 to a BL X1C recently so seeing some glowing reviews of their products is very reassuring, even when i've had nothing but a good time with my new printer.

After upgrading an Ender 3 to Revo and buying an Mk4 - I'm convinced that fast (and cold) nozzle swaps should be a standard feature. It's so useful to be able to do so. Hopefully more printer manufacturers will learn from the A1, especially some of the open source manufacturers. Bambu's printers look great, but I'm not too keen on some of their business decisions.
You helped me with my ender 3 pro with your first things to do video. I love how you seem very excited by the a1 i have p1S and its the best priner i used to date. Bambu labs has shake. The game up imo
Great to see another take on the use of the A1 mini. Quality of those minis is fantastic, very surprised that we’re seeing that quality (in FDM generally, even without thinking about the price of that machine).
I don’t have the a1 but i do have the p1s and x1c and these machines made 3d printing so much more fun. I keep an ender around when i feel like tinkering. But when i want to print something, the Bambu’s are always up to task.
I'm so glad you picked up this printer! Your previous videos helped me to finally get decent quality prints but so far this new machine is a dream to use. Looking forward to future videos!
I can't emphasize enough how much I am enjoying mine. The free bugbear print from the lost adventures co. at .2 was flawless and smooth. Looked like resin to me. I will be printing some of yours as well! Thank you so much for your videos and instruction. For me as a newbie is has been invaluable!
Dang it Tom, 😂 your earlier video including the A1 mini was part of what convinced me to jump in the A1 late last week. It arrived today! Keep up the great channel and have a great holiday, 🎉
I got an Ender 2 Pro over a year ago based on your video review and installation guide now I got the Bambu a1 Mini and the day after it arrived you posted this video. I already printed a mini with the 0.2 nozzle and stock settings but 0.04 layer height and I'm very impressed, looking forward to your profile settings!
My first printer was an Ender 3 a few years ago and your videos helpeed me so much with that machine. The Ender 3 constantly needed to be fiddled with to keep working properly. I upgraded to a Prusa Mk3 last spring and am very happy with it. However if I was in the market for a new FDM printer I would definatley go with Bambu Labs and have been recommending these printers to friends when asked. Thanks!
Other reviews of the A1 mini show that it is a great printer, but none really show off it's miniature capability. Thanks for your review! Looking forward to the next videos
I have the p1p and I too am very impressed with it, hopefully the settings your going to release will be the same for the big brother but I don't see why they would differ
Simply put. Thank you! My friend shared your video with me. Very happy he did and enjoy your very useful videos. Thank you again for sharing your time and wisdom with us.
I bought an Ender 3 V3 KE as my first printer, and I *really* wish I'd have picked up the A1 Mini first. I did pick one up a Mini/AMS Lite (thanks to the current sale), and I absolutely LOVE it.
Excellent video, Tom. The one thing holding me back is the bed size. I've got a ton of tabletop terrain files which were designed for Ender 3s and so require at least a 200x200 surface. I hope you'll give the A1 a review, because if it can produce similar results slowed down with a 0.2mm nozzle, I think it's likely to be a better all-round option for people who only want one printer. I've seen you speculate it will likely not be capable of similar quality to the A1 Mini, but so long as that reduced quality isn't massive, I think the additional size will more than compensate.
I have an A1 that I will begin testing next week. I doubt it will fully match the A1 mini's print quality as the full size A1 has no Z axis linear rails like on the mini.
@@Tombof3DPrintedHorrors Sure, but you've had great quality results from Ender 2 Pro and Ender 3 v3 Neos which have Z axis lead screws, so while the quality might be better on the A1 Mini, I'm interested in *how much* better. It's all a case of balancing features and what tradeoffs we as consumers are willing to make. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the A1 video!
@@3Skulls but those printers have a single Z screw, not dual which can actually 'fight' each other during movement. The Ender 3 V3 SE has a dual Z screw like the A1 full size and its small model (like minis) results were poor because of it.
@@Tombof3DPrintedHorrors Ah, good to know! I've only got the Ender 2 Pro and need to upgrade to something bigger to handle bigger terrain pieces, and want to get something from the current generation of printers. For that, I think the A1 will be fine. I can always use my E2P for the fine detailed miniatures.
I appreciate this video so much . I am jumping into the printer world with my son who has been wanting this ever since he started graphic design high school... I wish I saw this video before I ordered because I wouldve used your affiliate link... But I will definitely check out your other videos and will try to remember that you have a file for that one piece that gets caught. Thanks again for your honest review!
And I bought my elegoo neptune 4 a couple of months before this printer released.. I feel like selling it and buying a bambulab now. I've been tinkering more with it than i've been printing.

My name is Paul and I am from the Netherlands. I am 74 years old and all my life worked with computers. Still making PC’s for me, family and friends. Now I am interested in 3d printing but never had any experience. Have seen a lot of TH-cam films. What I want is a budget printer but not to much budget but a one who would print with not to much problems. I am not afraid of problems but not in the beginning. Follow your video’s about the Ender 3 V3 SE and Bambu Lab A1 mini. Found three options within my budget the Ender 3 V3 SE with a PEI sheet or Ender 3 V3 KE or Bambu Lab A1 mini. The SE look greats and is of course the cheapest so I have more budget for filament and your video’s or excellent how to set up the first time. What to you think is for me the best choice? Thanks in advance and keep making this excellent video’s.
All I can tell you is the one I would pick, which is the Bambu Lab A1 Mini. By far the easiest printer I have ever used, and also the best print results.
Thank you for doing this video, and I'm looking forward to your new videos on the FDM minis. I've been hoping this would be a good machine for that, and really excited to see what else your custom settings produce!
just bought a Ender 3 V3 SE as an upgrade from my old 2009 hand built Anet A8 clone....love this new ender...but you have me thinking....can't have to many 3d printers
As someone who is new to 3D printing, and is still looking for the best printer for me, i am coming round more and more to thinking about getting an A1 Mini. I want to get something for printing scenery for model railways. I know that I would get better details with a resin printer, but I don't want to get into the worry about the fumes and chemicals. I won't need the bed space that an A1 or other larger printers for small items. Yes, a bigger bed would probably be better if I also start printing toys and other 'fun objects' that seem to be available (and with an 11 year old nephew i will likely be doing this!) but I will just have to work with it! Finally, I want a printer that works straight out of the box, foes pretty good detail, isn't too expensive, and is reliable - and this A1 mini seems to fit this!
I got the A1-Mini as soon as it was released. It’s my favorite now. And I have an X1- Carbon too! Even though the A1 is a bedslinger, I feel like this model has certain improved features even over the X1. I can’t believe it’s so affordable.
Do you recommend the ams? It’s difficult to spend $500 and not be able to do all the other various filament types like abs, pa cf etc. the math also shows build total volume of about 300% more if go from 180mm to 256mm.
I wish I knew about this brand before I spent months trying to work with the Ender 3 Pro and then Artillery Sidewinder. I Sidewinder is great, but not so much for mini's. Going to have to pick this one up, I don't have time to tweak. To set it and forget it for the most part and the turnaround time is amazing. I'll make sure to use your link. Thanks!
I'm waiting on my A1 mini order. For my son and myself. please continue with a1 mini stuff especially with the 0.2mm nozzle. no one is doing any videos on this combo. I'd like to see what it can really do! I ordered the 0.2mm nozzle myself.
Awesome video as always, Ive been wanting to get into trying minis but have dreaded the thought of switching my one printer (ender 3 v2 neo) back and forth to print certain items. I had considered getting a smaller cantilever printer for that purpose, I only have so much room on my desk lol, after I saw your video on the ender 2 pro. When the A1 mini came out i'd wondered if you'd be trying it, glad to see you did!
I will be testing minis on it, and yes, I think the larger size will likely affect quality (similar to difference between Ender-2 Pro and full size Ender 3.)
Another great video of 3D printing, thanks! Been following this channel for years because you can trust the knowledge given here. I’ve still got an old Ender 3 I’m thinking of exchanging to something newer. I do already have a X1C, but we all have a few printers sooner or later. Just wondering if the A1 is as good as the A1 mini, only with a larger bed, like the size of my old Ender 3?
I was in disbelief after printing the first test model the print quality like you say is very very good and first glances you could easily mistake the print as resin. This machine is miles above its competition in all aspects, the software is also very comprehensive and intuitive. The machine even tells you when its time to lubricate the rails.
Brilliant video! I've been waiting for content like this! I'll probably get myself an A1 (or maybe a P1S) in a few months so it's good to know it can print great looking miniatures.
Currently 8 printers running with four older Ender Pros/V2s in storage. Print farm consists of a mix of Ender-3 Neos, V2, V3 SE, Ender-2 Pro, Bambu Lab A1 and multiple A1 minis. All are set up on steel tables in case of a fire so that nothing around the printer would be affected. These are the tables I use, they can fit four standard Ender or full size A1s, or with the A1 Mini I can fit three on the top: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074M7KVSH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just a quick comment/question, I have adblocker on and allowed me to be tracked when I used your affiliate link. Will this still register as a sale from you? If I buy something, I want to buy it using your link because you are just the best. I am just a bit worried that it might screw with the whole registering that you made a sale from this video. Have you had any issues with this? Or have you had anyone else had this problem?
@@Tombof3DPrintedHorrors I removed the adblocking tracking thing and bought it today. The amount of work you put in profiles and such is great. Keep up the good work man
Hi, I'm about to start my journey into the world of 3D printing and this channel has been a big inspiration to do so, so thank you! I have ordered an A1 ("standard") and was wondering: Will the settings of the videos about the A1 mini also apply to that printer?
I want that mini profile already! You already converted me to sunlu PLA meta. I use the Bambu Lab Pla tough filament settings (more evidence bambu lab filament is repackaged sunlu filament? )
Tom, you're amazing. I hate to ask but any chance we could also get a Bambu A1 profile while we're at it? Or do you think that'd be the same as the A1 Mini profile, just smaller bed? Your review convinced me on the mini, but then I saw the A1 was out and the reviews all compared it favorably to the A1 Mini, so I grabbed one instead. I used your affiliate link so I hope that still worked.
Thank You so much for this video,i was hoping for this one since this printes appears,i love your content and You help me to decide for this printes!!❤
Sorry, I don't have time to do videos just for fun (I wish I did), they have to be of use to my customers, and AMS really isn't applicable to the models I create. :)
I'm very impressed - I think I've done about every upgrade to my Ender 3 Pro (yeah, that far back). How loud is this machine, though? That's my only question; I don't think I heard anything about that in the video. I've put all the quiet stuff on my Ender, so I'm pretty happy with that aspect. How does this compare? Any input from those who've already taken the plunge?
Maaaaan I am struggling to pick a printer to upgrade to. The fast swapping nozzle, touch screen and half the price of the P1s makes this really tempting. I probably wouldn't experiment with different nozzles on the p1s simply because it involves a few steps in a small enclosed space
Liked and commented for honesty. I hate those people who pretend to care about what their viewers think and try to bait them to comment in one insincere manipulative way or another. Asking some ridiculous questions about silly things that are totally inconsequential and unimportant and or ones which answers to they already know. It's insulting.
I'm sold, may have to wait until after Gary Con though! Curious thought, is there any reason you don't use Octoprint? I find the web interface so much easier than messing around with SD cards.
It is a nice looking machine, but I have given up buying all new products for the time being. Instead I am working on an open source printer based on a couple of upcycled CD dives. It does not have a huge footprint but it is only meant to be used for minis and scatter. Plus it only costs a couple of bucks to assemble, and as we get to the realm of the ten minute benchy, it is surprisingly quick. Now, all I need to go with it is a reliable independent power source, and a way to reuse all the plastic that we are currently drowning in. . -)
Tom could you show how to do the selective layer heights for other printers with a popular slicer like Orca or Cura for all of us who print terrain pieces. Thanks you very much
Hey Tom, Do you Think the bigger A1 will also work for Minis and terrain in the same way as the A1 Mini? Im thinknig about replacing Ender 3V2 and Ender 2pro for an A1 to safe some space.
Tom, thank you for an insightful look at this thing. I've been working with my V3 SE for some weeks (trying to print minis, as opposed to terrain) and the results are anything but satisfactory. I'm very tempted to get the A1 mini but having just spent $200 on the SE I don't know if I can do it. Do you have any words of reassurance that with more tweaking I can get good mini results, or should I just bite the bullet and go for the A1 mini? Thank you again for all the videos.
The SE does great terrain, but I have given up trying to get really good minis off of it (plus .2mm nozzles are difficult to obtain for it). There is simply too much mass with the Sprite extruder to do tiny work like that. Only Bowden feed Enders are great for minis.
Thank you for the reply. I did actually manage to obtain .2mm nozzles for it, but considering how bad the 0.4mm minis came out I'm not very hopeful. I suppose I'll have to see if Amazon will take the SE back, but I am similarly not very hopeful about that either lol. But again thank you for the advice.
I didn't even realize you were still around! Glad to see your videos finally back in my feed!!!! I just bought the big brother the A1
Yep, I'm still cranking out videos - this is precisely why I need people liking/commenting on them so TH-cam promotes them in people's feeds more. :)

The A1 Mini is my current favorite printer, nothing beats it for the price and print quality.
awesome prints and lovely explanation of the printer, it seems like a nice printer for many people
I wish I knew about this brand before I spent months trying to work with the Ender 3 Pro and then Artillery Sidewinder.
More videos and custom profiles coming in a week or so :)
A thoughtful, thorough review. Thanks Tom!
Nice. I'm going to check out the recommended settings video you referenced.
That example mini looks fantastic for FDM!
So happy to see more content from you.. your Ender assembly videos are what got me, & many others going. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! :)
Hi Tom, Are you going to test miniatures on the larger A1? Do you think the increase is bed size/weight will reduce the quality?
I will be testing minis on it, and yes, I think the larger size will likely affect quality (similar to difference between Ender-2 Pro and full size Ender 3.)
Bambu printers are really game changing.
Love the videos! Can’t wait to try out some minis on this printer!
They A1 is a fantastic printer. I get slightly better 28mm miniatures off of the A1 Mini, but the difference can only be seen under magnification.
I was in disbelief after printing the first test model the print quality like you say is very very good and first glances you could easily mistake the print as resin. This machine is miles above its competition in all aspects, the software is also very comprehensive and intuitive. The machine even tells you when its time to lubricate the rails.
Have you tried my custom Bambu Studio profile? It makes it even better!
@@Tombof3DPrintedHorrors Where is the profile ?? Your review is excellent by the way
@@raspberrypiploy771 I have a video showcasing it (miniatures on the A1 Mini) and also on my website under the RESOURCES menu.
Thanks for the video Tom!
Comment for the algorithm gods.
Great video, waiting for the one about the custom profiles
More videos and custom profiles coming in a week or so :)
Brilliant video! I've been waiting for content like this! I'll probably get myself an A1 (or maybe a P1S) in a few months so it's good to know it can print great looking miniatures.
I can't vouch for the P1S as I haven't tested one.
what does your print farm look like? How is it setup/organized? And what printers are in your farm?
I appreciate you asking, but I have no idea how adblocker affects affiliate sales. :)
@@Tombof3DPrintedHorrors I removed the adblocking tracking thing and bought it today. The amount of work you put in profiles and such is great. Keep up the good work man
Thank you for making this video. I look forward to the follow up videos.
Definitely using your link this week thanks so much for helping me make my mind up solid content
cant wait to see your settings and results. Thx for that
More videos and custom profiles coming in a week or so :)
I use the Bambu Lab Pla tough filament settings (more evidence bambu lab filament is repackaged sunlu filament? )
My friend had the D&D module, Tomb of Horrors. It was level 1-3 if I remember correct;y.
I literally just got the A1 and won't be done testing for a few weeks, so can't give an answer yet.
Thank You so much for this video,i was hoping for this one since this printes appears,i love your content and You help me to decide for this printes!!❤
More A1 Mini Videos! Id like to see an AMS Lite preview of painted Terrain and minis. Just for fun and Views :D
Sorry, I don't have time to do videos just for fun (I wish I did), they have to be of use to my customers, and AMS really isn't applicable to the models I create. :)
@@Tombof3DPrintedHorrors fair enough lol any news on the new KS I’m hearing whispers abt? 👀
@@MrAndersonMusic056 soon! ;)
I just bought one 3 hours ago.
I gave up fighting with my Ender 3 two years ago (or more).
I was waiting for something like this.
It's the best printer I have ever used. I'm getting ready to buy a third A1 Mini.
I have a resin printer. Been thinking a lot about a FDM. May go with Bambu.
It's a great printer!
Maaaaan I am struggling to pick a printer to upgrade to. The fast swapping nozzle, touch screen and half the price of the P1s makes this really tempting. I probably wouldn't experiment with different nozzles on the p1s simply because it involves a few steps in a small enclosed space
Got mine coming in a couple of days hell yea buddy
Wow 🤯🎉 thats amazing quality this was exactly the channel ive been looking for new sub from me
Thanks!
Great video, will be sticking with the v3 se for now since i'm still new. This could be a nice second machine in about a year or so
I'm sold, may have to wait until after Gary Con though! Curious thought, is there any reason you don't use Octoprint? I find the web interface so much easier than messing around with SD cards.
I'm not a fan, print quality is better with SDs when I compared them.
Interesting, I'll have to run some comparisions.
Tom, great video about a great printer. Thanks!
Thanks!
Now, all I need to go with it is a reliable independent power source, and a way to reuse all the plastic that we are currently drowning in. . -)
I’m going to get one of these to get into the babu ecosystem
Tom could you show how to do the selective layer heights for other printers with a popular slicer like Orca or Cura for all of us who print terrain pieces. Thanks you very much
Hey Tom, Do you Think the bigger A1 will also work for Minis and terrain in the same way as the A1 Mini?
Im thinknig about replacing Ender 3V2 and Ender 2pro for an A1 to safe some space.
Yes on terrain, so far no on miniatures. I have not been able to get my A1 to match the A1 Minis print quality when it comes to figures.
wow, I might have to add a printer to the stable!
Have you ever made a video about what to do after buying a used 3d printer to check it out and set it up?
Really looking forward to the adaptive layers guide. Any ETA when it will be coming out? Thanks
Another week
And its 199 dollars right now!! Worth buying as a secondary to combo with my A1?
Yes!
