It makes no sense, if tom was there and took photos why wouldn't he use them? It's obvious as to why tom defends dylan, its the same reason he gets defensive with anything that goes outside his narrative. Tom feels hes the most informed and that hes the go to guy when it comes to this case any deviation from that Tom gets upset. This is far from him being off put because hes guilty.
From what I understand from hearing Joe Burns talk about this is that it was Cali who told him two PI's where there taking pictures and everyone needed to leave. He was shuffled out the door just as Kurt was being taken up to the greenhouse. As Joe and Bonnie were walking down the drive they heart a small gunshot. It's not clear if Joe actually saw the PI's that night or was just told of their presence. As for Dylan. He was a double agent. He was paid by Courtney to arrange for Kurt to be home for the intervention to take place. Easily bought.
Tom was there that night, and he's covering for Dylan. There's some 4D chess going on behind the scenes because all of those individuals profited from Kurt's murder.

That’s because it is edited propaganda. It omits crucial information and opinions from people in the film. It’s like watching Fox News and believing they’re telling objective truth. It’s a shame more people don’t realize that.

We would never have had any idea what had happened to Kurt if it weren't for the great observation skills of Tom Grant, and his courage to come forward in 1995. Matthew Richer, on the other hand, has added nothing whatsoever to the investigation.
Im always leary of someone who has to sell someone on their positve attributes regarding their character. Why???? Everything reveals itself through actions & behavior. A seasoned private investigator would know by doing that red flags are immediately raised. The fact that he, himself uses this process routinely is concerning.

Joe burns never says the PIs were there that night or that they were TG. Also his story line is a little mixed up. He never indicated what day in April Kurt was killed just that it was a couple days after returning home from Exodus. The PIs he said came "before" and that could have been Ernie barth or something when CL was trying to find Kurt and then Tom & Dylan showed up on the 6th or 7th. I think Tom is naive and didn't think kurt's "best friend" who is helping him look around would do it- but Tom doesn't have experience with drug addicts.

The more I listen to Richer's interviews, the more baffled I become. On his latest interview with WKK, as elsewhere, he is condescendingly mocking Tom Grant: for living with Indian immigrants, for being too poor to own anything but a microwave, etc, etc. Oh, and also apparently Grant is stupid ... Stupid enough, I guess, to have provided us with a copy of the so-called 'suicide note', to have recorded many of CL's most damning statements, to have properly recorded the ' Cali note' on the staircase, etc. etc. Do you honestly think any of us would be talking about this as anything but a suicide if it weren't for Grant's decades of work on the case? What do any of Richer's unbearably snobby personal insults towards a man whom he clearly insinuates is a pathetic loser have to do with solving the Cobain case? To make matters worse, in the WKK interview Richer repeatedly mentions, in a weary, 'can't be bothered' voice that he just keeps losing interest in the Cobain case. Fatigued with it all, he is. Almost yawning! So why do we bother listening to his ' thoughts' on it, then? Tom Grant, on the other hand, remains passionate about solving the mystery of Kurt's death after all this time, even when dismissed by many as a conspiracy kook. Now some of you are even ludicrously insinuating he was somehow involved himself! (Now that's a rich one). Talk about biting the hand that feeds us ...'
