I love that Horizons is taking its second part to improve on some stuff that the beginning was lacking. Liko and Roy can learn to hold their own and gym leaders aren’t getting ignored again. I’m also glad that Ann is actually getting some more screen time

I am honestly loving this series far more than the others. Partly cause it went on for years, and all about champion competition and other things-- but I like how this is a far more interesting protagonist, -- no 3 protagonists with their own unique challenges. The story isn't even about 'being the best' but about genuine adventures and exploring the unknown. It feels so different even with the concept of Gym Battles and competition. IMaybe cause I don't wanna catch up on all those years of missed series but , I far love Horizons far better than the others. I can't wait till Netflix reveals more.
I’m so happy the kids picked up right from the start that it was Onyx and Sango. So they know they might be in danger but they will be cautious around them.
As for gym leader..it’s Larry xD i wonder who in the trio will be assigned to fight him haha.
Who's the best gym leader? Larry!! Because he works full time. He is a gym leader. He is a member of the elite four. Plus as a 37 year old full time worker, he is the most relatable to me. 😅

Here we go again with people saying they’ll face every gym leader when the episode explicitly said that each person gets a single gym leader for both the basic and implementation tests. For all 8 gym leaders to get spotlight, there would have to be a minimum of 8 Terastal course students with absolutely no overlap in gym leaders assigned. The only way I see this happening would be for every Explorers admin to be taking the test alongside the main trio and Anne. Considering that Amethio already received Terastal from Hamber, it would be superfluous to take the course. And this is, again, assuming no gym leader overlap.
I love how Horizons is doing SO many things right. Journeys was comfy for me, a fun weekly pasttime. But Horizons leaves me just about as excited for whats to come like back when I was a little kid, excited to see what was next on Ash's adventure.
Honestly never thought I'd say that about the Pokémon anime lol, since as an adult I only ever really considered it a fun past time with fun characters here and there, but Horizons really is just a genuinely good show.
Big same!! The build-up on the episodes is great, the whole crew is vibrant, interesting and sometimes unpredictable. The series pacing is not guided by the same formulas over and over again like Ash's journeys, and even the "filler" episodes doesn't feel like it. I love it all around and I'm excited to watch every new adventure!
Since penny works for the pokemon league. I think that Horizons is after the events of Scarlet and Violet. This is the first time that the games are canon in the anime. We know that Penny and Dot are going to interact thanks to the opening. So I hope there's a chance Liko will interact with the Gen 9 main protagonist who probably has her/his own terapagos from area zero

Anybody else realize that the Test they're on for School involves going to the Gyms to earn the Badges ?
That's because the Gyms are Based through the Pokemon League which most likely FUNDS the Academy so in that fact that means the Academy itself is part of the League
That's why the Games don't let us Change out of the School uniform for the most part. It's because the Uniform is League Certification

Given how much of a shift this Season is from the first, I wonder if the next Season will also be something different. This series is definitely even more of a shakeup than it seemed and I'm happy about the unpredictability.

Generation 9 is the first generation where many female characters looks like male and male characters looks like female. Eg:- Penny, Gursha (before the official confirmation many guys were simping over him).

I mean tbf, can't have gym battles in Alola when there's no gym leaders lol. But yeah it was super jarring for Journeys, given how much emphasis the Galar games had on the gym challenge as a big nation-wide sports event.
I'm glad Horizons is charting its own course and mixing up the traditional formulas. This is what the Pokemon anime has been needing for a long while. It's a massive shame Ash never went out on top after Gen 4 or Gen 6 and was retired sooner, this refresh should have happened a long time ago. Now if only the games followed suit, Legends Arceus was a massive step in the right direction even if Scarlet/Violet were a bit of a letdown.
No Ash retiring earlier would be devastating, right in the middle of his character arc and development? And also, the anime has been changing and doing new things for a long time

In the games Nemona gives you a Tera Orb but briefly mentions a special class on Terastilization, that if passed, you'd earn your own Tera Orb, however it could only be taken by ''outstanding'' students, that's how she said it at least. I'm still not sure what EXACTLY she meant by that (though I have a few guesses) because the requirements weren't specified. It's likely not the same as in the anime, where it seems like just another generic training program that appears to be open to everyone, unlike in the games.
it might have been a class on its own but nemona just vouch for the mc so we can skip that class entirely im assuming cause nemona cant wait that long for the mc to pass that class to get thier own terra orb.
I’m so happy that they took this route for the show. When it first came out I was not a fan of how different it was from the previous series but knowing that gym battles are coming makes me want to see it. Also, Grusha is the best gym leader because he’s beautiful and actually gave me a run for my money.
Liko is an exchange student in naranja academy and in the beginning she was part of an indigo school, so maybe the creators of the series don't want to make an excuse for her transfer just to enter naranja academy and ditch the indigo academy.

I’ve really enjoyed Pokémon Horizons so far. It feels fresh in a way I didn’t expect.
It is by far the best and most enjoyable series of pkmn to date.
I love everything about it. Feels like i'm watching an entire new anime.

2:44 I actually like it. Writers nowadays only COMPLETELY copy paste the design of the game characters which will be bland and feels unthinkable if you think about it. Even though it is heavily based on latest games and to be easily recognized by kids,I believe they should “remodel” them a bit…just a little bit just like what they did in Indigo League to add more presentation to the anime. This happens in an alternate universe than the one in the games anyway.😌 Yes,it might end up being worse but there’s also a chance that they’ll look better in their “remade outfit”. Maybe that’s just me.

I was upset that Ash was gone, but I went on a positive side as I imagine that he still traveling around the world to visit regions that he hasn’t visited yet, and new Pokémon that he’s probably catching off-screen. As for this series, if you say that it’s working quite well, even though the rotten tomatoes is 71% and the reviews is 2.8, then I guess it’s ok 👌🏻.
For Sun & Moon and also Journeys series, the producers were trying something new so it is obvious that Sun & Moon doesn’t feature Gym Battles and Journeys is supposed to show Ash in a bit of different direction because he became an Alola Champion
I was surprised they actually had to go do gym battles, only took 46 episodes of chasing Rayquaza before deciding they wanted/needed to learn about terastalization. I still feel like these gym battles are a minor side quest after seeing the results of Liko's battle but the main quest of finding the 6 hero pokemon has been such a cool idea with horizons. Also half expected them to go in a bad direction after not even really giving ash a proper send off but I think Liko is actually a better protag already so I'm excited to see how it progresses each week

What freaking surprised me is the fact that liko and her friends easily knew that sango and onyx were disguised, and YET! Ash and his friends easily fell over EVERY SINGLE dumb and obvious disguises of team rocket for 20 plus years of the anime!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also I am happy that we are getting gym battles once again! I did enjoyed the kahunas from sun and moon and ash competing in the world championships, but I still missed seeing gym battles in the anime, so seeing liko, dot and Roy going on the journey to battle gym leaders is gonna be awesome! 😄

Very curious what they'll do with the Paradox Pokemon.
I have a HUGE sweet tooth, and as soon as I saw Katy she became my favorite Gym Leader ever. (I never had a fave gym leader before.) The antennae-theming on her hat is adorbs, and I can't wait to see how she whips Liko into place. (she sure looks menacing in that preview...)

Horizons is super awesome.
Even then, the school setting restricts the adventuring too much. The SV characters are not very sex dimorphic on the design, but Orio is still great. Māshu is a Kalos Gym Leader who also speaks in Kansai dialect, and even Shizui the Isshyu Gym Leader speaks in Kyuushyuu dialect. Pokémon is just fun when being Japanese it once was. I do enjoy some Pokémon-related videos.

I hope they do justice for ma boi Arven, i would like to see his and mabosstif's story
I'm surprised about them not showing Arven yet in the anime. But maybe, just maybe, there will be an arc where the trio will need to go to Area Zero and that's where he is. That would make so much sense. And for once, I hope we see both Koraidon and Miraidon in the serie. I really love how the Pokemon Company is going all out for Gen 9 for some reason, with despite lacking in graphic, bugs and performance issues, Scarlet and Violet and its two DLCs have one of the most polished, interesting and well made story and characters. I AM BEYOND HYPED THAT THEY'RE DOING THE SAME THING TO HORIZONS AND CONTINUE GIVING PALDEA THE THREATMENT IT DESERVES. GEN 9 TRULY IS THE BEST GENERATION 😭
I just hope the Rising Volt Tacklers don't disappear permanently from the series. Unfortunately, Pokemon has a habit of doing this. Mind you, I heard somewhere that this might have been partially influenced by Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water, so it's possible that we might see an upgraded airship later.
Then again, maybe this is MLP-inspired too, and Roy is supposed to be Spike.
Story telling and character development was never easy. Horizons is trying their best.

its nor maybe, because how mades a dialect for difference of normal japanese, how spanish from spain we have a huge dialects on around of the country and the most know to overseas is the Andalusian- like Sevilla, Granada , Huelva, or the Canarian Islands , but we have other inner languajes, and made the difference of tone, in Japanese takes this point, and is more possible on Rika in spanish-spain version uses an Andalusian tome more possible

I really liked how they added the gym badges into the anime i played the games when i was allowed screen time that was around dinner time till bed time at 8 pm so i was not really allowed to have much time with after school activities
Imagine that after Wulfric’s gym Battle which came out in i believe 2014 or 2016. Since then Ash hasn’t been the same.
For 6 generations Ash did the usual stuff that i liked. 130 episodes or less of Ash going on a journey to do 8 gym battles and a Pokemon League at the end he did this from Kanto until Wulfric. After that it was all gone. I lost my interest in Ash’s journey cuz of that. Now im finally happy that they are doing this again. I hope it will be the same as Ash someday or if Ash will return.

It’s clear Ash needed to be replaced but I feel OLM waited too long to do so. He should have been replaced after Kalos. Plus I felt Ash never lost to Alain in the Kalos League, he got screwed. Somebody didn’t want him to win and I think it’s Professor Oak.

There’s a mystery there, hence why she uses a physic type.. she makes sense. The people who act as though they “need something now” are the problem. She’s written just fine. We’ll see and learn more about her soon, im betting money on it.
I too feel Chalce to be an interesting character. Like how calm she is and moreover, she is senior among all the admins. She has a backstory which we may get in the upcoming arc. Moreover, how Clavell trusted her with the Database was just intriguing. She is mysterious which arouses the interest.
It’s interesting cause Pokémon Masters also pointed out that she was able to distinguish Whitney’s Johto accent. Maybe she is from Johto?

It is good
the biggest problem is the protagonists, they are all too nice and friendly, feels like all of them are the same character, with no contrast between them to keep things exciting, or make you care for them, having them being so sweet and innocent all the time really makes them feel boring and unrealistic.
This problem was actually there in Ash's era. But as for HZ, all the three share different personalities. Liko has a caring, affectionate and quite practical side. Roy has an upbeat, confident but remains a bit confused while battling. Dot has an introverted, not energetic side with a complete different personality for her alter ego.
These characters are what is defining the show

See, I am not complaining, I have been a great fan of Pokémon since I was seven. But I am just giving an opinion. These characters had great development but they started with very similar characters.

I already loved Horizons but i like they're using a training arc set up to throwback to the Ash era format of travelling and taking on a region's league. Excited for the explorers goofily enrolling, cool that Paldea isn't getting shortchanged and most of all, MORE ANNE! I still suspect her somewhat but her being related to Sango never crossed my mind, interesting theory.
And yeah Rika sounds weird, (would totally take the VA out to dinner though) but she also... Looks weird. I've felt this way ever since official 2d art of her dropped in the first place. I know ScVi has a different artstyle to begin with, but she always just felt off visually. Which is weird cause she's fine in 3d to me
About Rikas accent, I wouldn't be suprised if how like western dubs generally replace Japanese dialects with dialects from the language it's dubbed into, to stay true to the character sounding different from others, this might be the opposite case for Rika, not to show that she's from the Kansai-equivalent region of Johto (although it'd also kinda fit with her using the Paldean evolution of Wooper, Clodsire), but to show that she's from a different corner of Paldea, or perhaps even from a different spanish-speaking country altogether (although if that was their intention, I guess you could argue they would've made sure that accent stays intact in at the very least the Spanish translation of the games).
On the flipside, I also don't think that every character from the Johto-games is written with a Kansai dialect, so you can't necessarily distinguish wether someone is from Johto or not just because they may not speak in dialect, so... I feel the reverse also shouldn't just automatically be true.
its that i mean of others, in Spain we have a huge dialects and inner languajes, and the most common in Spain is the Andalusian tone- areas from Sevilla, Granada, Huelva, Caceres... etc, how for Rika mades a different accent to difference to common japanese uses the Kansai, because is a japanese dub, but in case in spanish -spain version is more possible uses a more Andalusian tone or Canarian Island for this like in One piece live action, the actor of Sanji, Taz, are from Canarian Islands and are a really mark accent if are hear in spanish versions too- and their children version too

I'm just hoping that they make the Gym Leaders challenging for our protagonists. I don't want each of them to walk in, and defeat the Leader with relative ease. The fact that we're getting three Gyms in a row, makes me believe that Liko, Roy, and Dot are going to be victorious, without much training.

True...but, Ash normally had a pretty decent team to battle. Liko, Roy, and Dot don't really have that at this moment.
The thing I find funniest is that they're kinda insulting Roy considering he's the only one given a Gym Leader he doesn't have a type disadvantage against

But Both of Roy's current team members have a type advantage over Grass

To be fair, Brassius’ ace Pokémon is a rock type even if he is a grass type specialist. So in a roundabout way, he’s got the same problem with type disadvantage considering that rock is strong against both fire and flying

Its honestly pretty frustrating with how much the English dub on Netflix is behind. I really wish they just dropped it subbed because I feel like I'm missing out so much.
Also I hope they don't drop the adult characters from the air ship completely because its nice seeing how adult characters interact in the world.
