miyaura has been hella well known since high school - my friend met him at the hs tournaments in tokyo and says that ran and miyaura were hella famous from there. incredible to see miyaura now getting the international recognition he deserves 🥲

Miyaura was a starter and Nishida was a reserve in the JPN national team in the underage category. However In the senior, Nishida took the lead and came into the limelight on the international stage. I really respect Miyaura for not giving up in that frustrating situation and making efforts. I'm particularly proud of Miyaura's performance against Brazil, Argentina and Italy in this VNL. Go on Miyaura.
I don't know the reason behind their decisions. Nishida going Pro after the U19 Gold Medal of Japan in Asian Championship where Miyaura was the MVP. and, Miyaura going to University instead of going Pro after becoming MVP in the U19 Asian Championship and winning Gold. Puzzles me.
I read somewhere that going to uni gives them a higher chance or opportunity to play overseas (something that miyaken, ran, and yuki have taken advantage of) so they opted to do that instead of going pro in JPN. but to clarify miyaken did go pro in JPN for a while (played for JTEKT) before going to Poland (then Paris for next season)
guys...stop saying that miyaura has 'surpassed' nishida. it's easy to want to compare the two, but the two are great friends off court as well. no one wants to get injured and see their 'fans' talking about how someone else should replace them on the starting lineup and is better than them. nishida's physical health hasn't been too amazing since 2021, and we as fans should be supporting him instead of throwing him down and praising miyaura. not to mention that since nishida isn't the tallest of players, he has to work harder in order to keep up with taller players, which can easily cause injury if he overexerts himself. being benched in this game definitely didn't help his mental health either. it must be hard for him to be away from his new wife, getting injured, and on top of that, having his 'fans' compare him to his friend. i love miyaura, and i think he's a great player. but is it that hard for everyone to just call him amazing instead of 'the new nishida' or 'better than nishida'?

Kento was the main reason Nishida went directly to professional teams after High school, cuz Kento was already the key player in University League, and Nishida wanted to be better than him. Therefore he chose to enter the higher level to chase and surpass Kento. They are both good players, no need comparison.

Miyaura was the starter when Japan Competed in U19 Asian Championship and U19 World Championship as the team Captain. Miyaura was included in the National Team only in 2021. Their fate has been reversed. Miyaura now is the substitute and Nishida is the starter. Now the 2 of them are competing for the same position. This is the best problem every coach would want to have. Having 2 reliable players that he can sub in and out whenever needed.

I don't want to infer things but I think vb world is a Nishida stan. Which is justifiable and not bad at all. It's just Kento also is as good of an athlete as well. If there's one thing VNL 2023 RJN run proved is that Kento Miyaura can very much contribute to the team. The volleyball community has recognized him as a world class opposite hitter. That is, he deserves the spotlight.
