This is my interpretation for this song. The two birds represent two parts of a person. This person has gone through some really hard times and would really like to move on, one way or another. Their motivation is right there, ready to unfold its wings. But there's that part of them which doesn't wanna fly at all. The world is a bad place, and it knows it. Staying on the wire is safer than flying out, and this feeling is much stronger than motivation. The person will never move on unless the two birds find a compromise, a way to start flying together without either of them giving up right after the take off. They may never get to that point, but the two birds never fight each other, and this way the person will still live happy, though they're missing the best part of life: flying.
"Say that they're always gonna stay together" hits me hard, I've had so many friends growing up, I believed we'd be friends forever. I had to move away and they just ghosted me, I never knew what I did wrong. Eventually I got new friends, I lost them as well. Now I believe every friendship I have is going to last a month before I am left behind again
Same my sister ran away a couple months ago my sister ran away when she went to my moms friend and before that even happened she said that “we will stay together nothings going to happen” but then that happened it sucks seeing the person that made u happy and did everything together and then she ran away we have a very toxic family and she got yelled at a lot and she kinda was a bad.

It is never a bad thing to retain these behaviors when you get older. If it comforts you, and it is not harming anyone, it is good. Anyone who says you’re "clingy" for hanging on to what makes you happy is mean.
There's many things that I keep from when I was little because they mean a lot to me... I've changed a lot since then and they're always a good reminder of where I came from vs where I am now and I think things like that are important :) I guess you could say I have "imagery" friends as well because I write stories and to me every one of those characters are real...but nobody else can see or hear them like me but to me they're a part of me and they came from me so if people say they aren't real they're saying that that part of me isn't real...at the end of the day they're real to me and that's all that matters :) one day I hope others will see them too (when/if my books get published) but until then they will stay with me 😌💛 they're my closest friends who have been with me for a very long time and just like they have told my story through their personalities and struggles I will tell theirs through my voice that they helped me learn to use :3
No I think that's a good thing, too many adults feel forced to give up "childish" things and get all bitter and sad as they get older. As long as they don't restrict your growth as a person, I think you should hold onto them. I think this song is more about not wanting to let go of things that simply aren't healthy to keep with you, or not wanting to leave your comfort zone. Imaginary friends are concepts, not mindsets, and you can change and bring them with you through life. A box you painted as a 4 year old is an object that you can keep with you that doesn't get in the way of anything. Unless you're at the point of obsessively hoarding, you're doing alright.

The wire is the childhood and the things the child used to do when they were younger. Now the child is turning into an adult and wants to move on with their life but the parent isn't willing to let go, even though they promised to be there to guide the child to where they want to be in life.

I always interpreted the birds as being literal birds (although obviously being used as a metaphor). This is because the song switches from third person to first person which gives me the impression that the singer is just looking at the two birds on a wire from outside the window and is sort of projecting her relationship troubles onto the birds since her relationship troubles are all she can think about at this moment.
What this song reminds me of is a story. A girl that has been the loveliest all her life yet loses everyone she loves, life kept on hurting her more and more and crushing her more until she lost everything and everyone, she was tired of repair and eventually decided to end her own life. She thought that she didn't make a change in the world, that her life never mattered, but when others started to see her pain in the end of her life, they all tried to connect to her, she didn't see them or feel them, her neighbors, her friends, and a man that love her, all grieved for her lose. This song reminds me of me and my dog, hes passed away now but just thinking of the good moments with him makes me cry. I love the melodic genius of this song. It just fits the context of some lines of the song. The dissonance of the piano in “two birds on a wire” ( 2:59 ) may represent the way the birds don’t have harmonic connections with each other so there is no peace even if they are both on the wire. There is also the part when the notes get higher with “one tries to fly away” ( 3:03 ) to accompany the letting go movement Which really contrast the following line “and the other” ( 3:09 ) that seems to be played on notes that are getting lower to possibly justify the fact that the bird won’t let go of his current place, he is staying back and is very hesitant about getting off of the wire. Also the very end of the song seems to not having a finishing note ( 3:09) . Which could mean that now that the other bird let go of the wire, it’s like the other bird just missed and lost a part of themselves, not ever being able to find peace again. The peace that could be felt when the song would have an actual ending note.
I love this song. It reminds me of my dearest friend, on the surface we don't have anything in common but I can't imagine life without him. He is the only person from school that kept in touch while I was in online school. He never forget about me, he has a job, he has to take care of his disabled brother and through all of that he still makes time for me. Coming out as gay and trans has left me feeling so alone and he is one of the few people that respects my queerness and my pronouns and it means the world to me. For me, two birds represent two siblings, as there’s a part of the song that says “two birds of a feather” and to me means siblings. This is because the song switches from third person to first person which gives me the impression that the singer is just looking at the two birds on a wire from outside the window and is sort of projecting her relationship troubles onto the birds since her relationship troubles are all she can think about at this moment.
What this song reminds me of is a story.
A girl that has been the loveliest all her life yet loses everyone she loves, life kept on hurting her more and more and crushing her more until she lost everything and everyone, she was tired of repair and eventually decided to end her own life.
She thought that she didn't make a change in the world, that her life never mattered, but when others started to see her pain in the end of her life, they all tried to connect to her, she didn't see them or feel them, her neighbors, her friends, and a man that love her, all grieved for her lose.
Her life mattered, so much than she'd ever thought, she was loved, but everybody was late, except one, one that almost saved her, but then life decided that it was her time.....

I love the melodic genius of this song. It just fits the context of some lines of the song.
The dissonance of the piano in “two birds on a wire” ( 2:59 ) may represent the way the birds don’t have harmonic connections with each other so there is no peace even if they are both on the wire.
There is also the part when the notes get higher with “one tries to fly away” ( 3:03 ) to accompany the letting go movement
Which really contrast the following line “and the other” ( 3:09 ) that seems to be played on notes that are getting lower to possibly justify the fact that the bird won’t let go of his current place, he is staying back and is very hesitant about getting off of the wire.
Also the very end of the song seems to not having a finishing note ( 3:09) . Which could mean that now that the other bird let go of the wire, it’s like the other bird just missed and lost a part of themselves, not ever being able to find peace again. The peace that could be felt when the song would have an actual ending note.

I love this song. It reminds me of my dearest friend, on the surface we don't have anything in common but I can't imagine life without him. He is the only person from school that kept in touch while I was in online school. He never forget about me, he has a job, he has to take care of his disabled brother and through all of that he still makes time for me. Coming out as gay and trans has left me feeling so alone and he is one of the few people that respects my queerness and my pronouns and it means the world to me. We have been through 2 different friend groups together and have been friends for 5 years know. I hope he knows that I'm never planning to let of the wire.

For me, two birds represent two siblings, as there’s a part of the song that says “two birds of a feather” and to me means siblings. One was killed in a car crash and was trying to fly away, trying to move on. The other sibling had survivor’s guilt and couldn’t move on, as they couldn’t let go of that wire. They were stuck in an endless loop, one trying to fly, the other one hanging on to their memory.

i had some good childhood friends back then but soon, my parents found a new house for us to live in, so we moved there. Before i left, i told my friends "We'll always be together no matter what, okay? We all will meet again soon." and after that, all i saw was them in the driveway waving goodbye at our moving car. I still remember that moment, it's stuck in my head, and still to this day, we haven't seen each other since. I have new friends now but i still miss my old ones, but all i can think is them having and living a good life and remembering me as much as i remember them... So in short, im the bird that left the wire while watching the other bird(s) stay on that wire... I truly miss them so much...
