Unlike chess that there is a unified and recognize rules (even though there are other rule variants of it), checkers has many variants, and those rules are not that recognize in other parts of the world. Even though there are world championship events being held, there are other countries that don't recognize the rules being set on those events. I think you are referring to english draughts, which have rules that the piece cannot capture backwards, and has no flying kings. The rules used in this checkers is the brazilian rule. Draughts rules known in the philippines are brazilian rule, and (somehow) czech rule.
