Just discovered your channel after this years GBSB. I have been binge watching all your videos! Love this video and how you also love a high leg panty from the 80s! To me that type of panty is the sexiest and most flattering on me. No one has sold those, well, since the 80s. Now I can make my own modern version. My 49 yr old behind will appreciate more coverage you show how to make. LOL Thanks for this tutorial and your shared love of 80s thigh high panties!
Blessed good morning dear 😊. Just came across your video n trust me it's totally awesome 🥰🥰. I love it😊. I'm self taught n videos like yours are truly a treasure 🥰. Very easy too follow. Thank you very much for your content. Do continue to inspire. Will have to look at all especially the elastic. Not sure what fold over elastic is. Thank you again n have a very blessed safe day 🥰🙏
You are an excellent teacher. I’m really impressed. I bought supplies because of all the pretty unmentionables you make each month. I’ve never done underwear but I feel like if I go back and look at your videos, I’ll have some good foundational knowledge when I dive in.
This is a lifesaver, especially as so many bra materials/designs are for non-stretch fashion fabric, which makes it difficult to make a matched knicker! Looking forward to the next installment!
Brilliant, clear instructional video! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your skills knowledge. I've already made the simplicity 8228 bra and just getting into making undies for myself. so once again Thank you :)
I’ve recently started using my scraps for underwear. Your videos have really come in handy. Especially talking about micro mesh (of which I have a metric butt ton that I bought as power mesh) as the backs of panties. Thank you.
Same here, I bought a bunch when I first started making bras because I didn't know what I was doing. Now I pretty much only use it on underpants and I still don't think I'll ever work my way through the stash!
Another fantastic video. I learn so much from you ! Looks like I may never need to buy another pantie pattern again. Looking forward to the next video.
I did some pantie pattern testing for another maker earlier this week and I can tell I've been spoiled by my self drafted block because I had to make so many changes to get everything fitting properly
You have totally enlightened me to begin my lingerie designing journey! I have been dabbling for so long and I am finding so much more confidence in your teching style. Thank you!
Your videos are absolutely fantastic you are a wonderful teacher ! Thank you so much for sharing your information. I would like to know what to do for good tummy support please.
Hi Liz! Thank you so much for all your videos. You are very informative and I love everything you make. Would it be possible for you to do a video on your favorite tools and would love to know about your dress forms. Where to buy and approximate costs. Again, thank for all your knowledge and may God bless you and keep you safe.
what about using linen? i want to make undies that have zero elastic and all natural materials. i plan on making mine either lace up in front or a tie on the one side.
okay I loove your videos! but I have a question: if you add a panel of non-stretch, do you have to make adjustments to the waist measurements of the stretchy fabric? or will it not really alter the fit?
Great instructions thank you I’ve started so many time to construct my own pattern and then get frustrated and leave them going to dive In on these thanks so much . Can you share where you get your rulers
Great video! Have you ever used non-stretch fabric cut on the bias instead? I've been experimenting with this method based on a gorgeous (and pricey!) pair of silk undies I have and love. This way you get to use silk charmeuse! Mmmmmm!
I haven't (other than just doing a small panel of non-stretch) I tend to like my underwear to have some give. I would recommend looking at the reduction factor (to maybe .95) to account for the loss of stretch
Thank you! This mini series has been so helpful and fun! And now I understand why I’ve run into issues with the panty patterns I’ve used in the past 😂 There’s something I’ve wanted to try and I’m going to give it a shot but I was hoping to get your thoughts on it - if I wanted to do a ruched center back seam, could I use a high rise center back point and angle down to a mid rise or maybe even bikini rise at the side seams? Would that work? Thanks again for the amazing videos!
I just picked these up on amazon. I wanted to try them for adding Seam allowance on curves CLOVER Curve Ruler www.amazon.com/dp/B077XMYJRK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LdXKEbHBA1K8N
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of beautiful panties! I am new to sewing undergarments, although I have sewn for years. May I ask which bra pattern you would suggest for someone just starting out. I watched several of your videos, and am so excited to start. In one of your videos you recommended a Facebook group but I couldn’t find it. Would you mind telling me again or linking it ? Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 💕👙🩲
I don't really think any bra patterns are "easier" or "harder" they sort of all use the same skills. I think what makes a good pattern is good directions. Emerald Erin's Black Beauty is really well written (and one of my favorites). There are several Facebook groups for bra making facebook.com/groups/bramaking101/ is women only in case you feel inclined to post a worn shot and get help with fitting
I just got around to making my panty block yesterday, via your tutorial, but in this vlog, on style lines, I notice the high point of your front leg curve goes the other way...... I don’t want to cut out fabric if it’s definitely wrong, or is it down to individual body shape? Can either be right? Thanks.
LizSews thanks for the reply, but it wasn’t the style lines I was referring to. I was wondering why the block you are working from on this link is different to the one you showed us how to draft in the last vlog? On this one, the more rounded part of the leg is nearer the side seam and on the previous one the more rounded part is nearer the crotch. It may work both ways, but If I need to change it I’d rather do it before I cut out fabric, that’s all. TIA.
Liz thank you so much this gives me so many idea options! I can’t wait until I’m finished making all these masks so I can’t get started on some lingerie! BTW, I need to go back and buy you more Ko-Fi! 😉😉🥰
Ho Liz, Could you please share what to look for and what brand to look when someone is interesting in buting a dressform? Thank you! I haven't finished watching the video even though that I have never attempted to sew a lingerie, is interesting to know how things are made.
Couldn't a person make these from strait silk or cotton fabrics? That's all I have and need new panties. The cost of panties and bra's are horrendous, not to mention the special fabrics to make your own.
I’m sorry to bother you. I have a little diff ent problem that I haven’t seen before on your show. My breast cage is small. If I wear a normal bra the cups end up under my arms. (Very uncomfortable)I have 10” if I go to arm to arm if I you middle of my under arm I’m 14”. I’m totally at 31 upper breast. My issues is I have between a c &d cup in Breast tissue. I have never had a good fitting bras. Gone to the places at festivals that have a lot of bras they couldn’t fit me. Went to booth of a lady that sold me a pattern that was supposed to fit. I’m sure it would have. I lost wait after that that size was 32 “i” so needless to say not that big now. Also losing that much breast tissue it now is flat & limp. Lol. No pounce. Ha ha. Can you suggest a bra pattern that can help. Where the cups are close together with little gap. That you for read.
You need to measure yourself again. Measure your upper chest, then under your breast, then measure your fullest chest. The difference between your upper and fullest chest will give you a cup size. Your under breast measurement will give you a band size. Measure tightly and correctly. Hope this helps you.
It’s pretty common for larger busts to need narrower wires ( sometimes called vertical wires). I don’t have a lot of experience making bras for this shape as I am the complete opposite. For all my bras I make the wire bigger but in your case you want to make the wire smaller. I think making your own is probably the best way to get something to fit but you will need to do several trials.
I personally have never tried it but it should be possible, Like I said i've never really found any commercially available underwear or patterns that fit my shape

Very interesting, and I like the technical term of 'swoosh' them together :)

You are blowing my mind right now. I did a copy-pattern from a pair of hipsters, now I want to do a self draft to see the difference!
You're great. Best on TH-cam. Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge.

Just gorgeous. I'm going to take out my yards of cream lace and make one of these or more. Thank you Liz
thank you very much for a way to make or buy panties. It is harder to find panties fit me the way I want them to.

You deserve lots of subscribers you are just awesome
Excellent info. I’m looking forward to all of these tips. Thank you!
do we have to draw them out like you did or will this calculate it and we can print it out? HELP
Thank you so much. So excited to make my own underwear to use up my scrap fabrics.
So informative as always Liz
Could I upcycle my unwanted t-shirts for under panties?

That's a great video idea! look for it in the next couple of weeks :)
For you wanted to make boy short would you just measure down to how long you want them to be. Love video

I buy all my rulers from Amazon. I particularly like the Dritz Style Rulers and the Clover Curve Ruler set

I think that would work. Then you could sew on skinny elastic stretched to its full extent and when it snaps back it will give the gathers
Thank you for a fantastic video Liz. Could you tell me where you got the ruler you used to adjust the waist of your panty please? x

LizSews thank you for replying so quickly. Do you know or have made racer back bras? Is there such a thing? Are front hooks hard to find?
What kind of stitch would you use on a serger

I discuss the options for the leg openings at 12:34 in the video

😀 these are very useful thank you
Hi Liz, what should the GSM of power mesh vs micro mesh?
I look for at least 200 gsm if I want to use it for bra backs.... the light weight stuff (micro mesh) tends to be 80-150 GSM
@@LizSewsThanks

Any recommendation on the types of pattern alternation I would need to do to end up with more of a thong style pair?
No clue as I have never worn a thong

wow, made a donation, glad I could use PayPal!
You look beautiful . Is it possible to use a pair of underwear we already own that fits well to make a pantie block ?
I personally have never tried it but it should be possible, Like I said i've never really found any commercially available underwear or patterns that fit my shape
@@LizSews thank you . Just tried the chart and my phone is too old lol to download it so will try on my I pad . Technology I can't keep up with lol
