If anyone had a "reason" to be an alcoholic, it would be Rod Serling. He was a paratrooper during the Pacific War. His buddy was decapitated by an air drop while standing next Mr. Serling. He saw some of the harshest action imaginable. I admire him greatly.
Being Irish, I used to live up to the stereotype of partying like a lunatic. One day it was like a switch flipped and I completely went off alcohol and that same circular wasteful lifestyle. I maybe have one cold beer very rarely on hot days, but I've never missed it. Watching life go by through beer-goggles is depressing.
Another documentary narrated by Rod Serling. I went to restaurants and bars, and I met these out of town businessmen who come down, and they chew the fat with you, being they don't like being in a hotel room watching reruns of Family Affair. I would take a drink of white wine. Usually, a Johannesburg Reiseling, Gewürtzameiner or a chablis. Maybe a beer, but I rarely touch hard stuff. Most of those men would drink a cocktail IE screwdriver, Scotch & soda, a Martini. Rod Serling had a great voice for doing documentaries.
I barely drink but I have blacked out (in the past) and felt guilty about it. And I drink a bottle of wine alone from time to time. So technically I answered 3 of these questions but sheesh.
The woman with the kid would be under the jail today. Thank god laws have gotten tougher. I don’t know that’s it’s helped cut down , but at least there is a chance for justice
That's interesting. There's a story in the A.A. Big Book about that same drink. The alcoholic (in his insane thinking) thought he wouldn't get drunk if he mixed whiskey with milk.
I first came across that in Joe Wambaugh's first book "The New Centurions," after a couple of the cops stopped at a liquor store to get pick up some hooch and milk for the hookers they had in the back of the paddy wagon, the hookers giving them the money to pay for it. Classy, right?
Funny that you call it supper and dinner in the same sentence. You must have been born in the north and now live in the south or the other way around. I can relate. 😂.
Yep. I know someone who made that a regular practice. Cost his family money, and eventually his freedom at one point, and his health, even after acknowledging to the MD who admitted him that he was an alcoholic.
But is he the six pack of beer? Could you ask him to puncture a vein and fill up a bottle of wine please? A Messiah Merlot would go down well right now.
Ha Ha! That's funny, because, they're alcoholics, and there's a bar with alcohol....And their meetings would be, like, full of people drinking!! Drinking at an AA meeting!! Ha Ha! That's really funny. Pal, you're about as funny as a dead baby.
I LIKE ROD SERLINGS VOICE IT HAS A REAL NEAT RING TO IT
He narrated documentaries. He had a great voice for it..
I've been itching for unwatched Rod Serling content. He's such a huge inspiration.

Who has an alcoholic or two among their kin?
Maybe it would be easier to count those who don't.

Born '65 drank too much for too long and things never went well anyway so I quit a while back. Miss it some days.
Are we just not going to talk about the blond kid with the “fridge in the shed” where he takes a thermos and mixes Scotch with MILK !?!??!!
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
A classic installment in the repertoire of beatnik media.
This is why I thank God I don't drink.
you would think " god" wouldn't have created alcohol.
@@sgtbrown4273 Some people have to hit bottom before they turn to God, whereas nothing else would have gotten their attention.

I love this so much
Black and white film. Hmmm for 1974. Everything was color by then.
those darn skid row bums
I don't have a drinking problem. .
I drink, I get drunk, I fall down. No problem.
6:58 a thermos filled with milk and scotch??? That's a recipe for that scene from the exorcist.
That's interesting. There's a story in the A.A. Big Book about that same drink. The alcoholic (in his insane thinking) thought he wouldn't get drunk if he mixed whiskey with milk.
Rod Serling sadly passed away one year after this film was made.
7:00 did this dude say MILK & SCOTCH?!?!🤢🤮 how & why would you drink alcohol with milk

If you watched this while drinking you are an alcoholic.
I have 6 to 10 shots of a quality whiskey everyday before supper but never after dinner
Funny that you call it supper and dinner in the same sentence. You must have been born in the north and now live in the south or the other way around. I can relate. 😂.
@@2003ranp Maybe they call lunch supper or, they have wet brain.
He knows something about addiction.... that 3 -4 pack a day cigarette "habit" he had may have had something to do with it...
ROD STERLING! I GUESS HE NEEDED THE BOTTLE OF HOOCH!
I remember it was Rod Sterling? Now it’s Rod Serling! A Mandela effect
Right?!
Sy Sperling?
It Was Sterling. Wow
Happy to be alive and sober in 2024!
Twilight Zone!!!
Rob Serling ❤
My clergyman think it's not a disease.
Couple of six packs lead to a bad end.
Yep. I know someone who made that a regular practice. Cost his family money, and eventually his freedom at one point, and his health, even after acknowledging to the MD who admitted him that he was an alcoholic.
Rod Serling look like he been drinking in this video, he didnt look like himself
Muy plenty stinko baracho
Omg campy
Jesus is the way, the truth, the life.
Nah! I'll give your Human Sacrifice a hard pass.
But is he the six pack of beer?
Could you ask him to puncture a vein and fill up a bottle of wine please? A Messiah Merlot would go down well right now.
Amen Jim
Let me know if that’s true after you read Age of Reason by Thomas Paine
@@henrygomez7190 not everyone gets it. We wish everyone would. The word of Jesus Christ rings true every day. Slow down and contemplate. Times short
Are we in the twilight zone?
Depends how much of the bottle is left.
AA should have a full wet bar, with happy hour, they would get more customers.

Alcoholics go to meetings, and that don’t be meaning happy hour at local bar.
Drunkard is better term
It's just like an old bum under a bridge with no place to sleep. What a waste of money and health.
We sure can't have all those " alcoholics" not being productive members of society ! think of all those tax dollars lost. give me a god damn break!🤣
A disease.....um...sure, just like a cancer patient. Sure.
Thanks. I see me. Not proud about it.
It's not a disease, it's a choice. Calling it a disease is an excuse for people who won't take responsibilities for their actions.
😂
Too bad psychedelics were/are illegal. Decades of misery could have been avoided.
Do you know how many guys I've known who tried to "fly" off a 4-story dormitory? Put the bong down Timothy.
@@anthonythomas1504 not many
My answer to all the questions is a loud NO. I can tell you why...I rarely,if ever..drink
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Public schools and alcoholic parents, quite a team. It WAS, anyway.
