For the backstory, I was thinking that their son died, and then his wife convinced him to adopt a child. The wife is very attached to the adopted child, but George doesn't have a good relationship with him, because he feels that the adopted kid is replacing the son that died.
My idea I have is that George’s son died of the mysterious plague. Now George is trying to dedicate as much time as possible to actually find out what killed his son.

Also, maybe his passing was fairly recent and the dog in the portrait is alive and well, living in the Cahill house. Like his parents adopted him or her when it was orphaned.

I think its such a great idea to have his wife be an adult. I don't know how familiar it is for other peoples families, but i at least grew up with my grandpa having a younger spouse, so its very familiar to me. And it makes the families in your save file more diverse!
You should do the house from That 70's Show! I wanted to do it myself but i'm not even close to being as skilled and creative as you. It would be a fun 70's build with split leveling and stuff. I would love to see that and play it!
I'm really looking forward to your save file. The ready to move in starter homes sounds nice for a sort of realist play. The only thing is that I noticed that you dont't limit the packs you use on builds so some people will have some items missing from the homes once they use this save file.

Maybe you should build a house for a sim that loves cactuses and only have them in the yard, cause she/he is a doctor and doesn’t have much time to take care of other plants. It would be wonderful to see more houses for one sim, but not necessarily a starter home. Anyway, always loving your work!💓

Hey Dawn! Love your builds! About the Save File, I have two ideas: 1. Starter Houses: I'd love to see some sort of "tour" video where you also decorate the house. I think it will be different and fun to watch (even if the videos were short). 2. Early Save File: just one idea, but maybe you could release one world at time once they are finished. Like, once Willow Creek is completely finished, you'd share it. And keep going in the same order as the worlds were delivered to us in game until you finished everything. Anyway, keep doing your amazing job! Your Save File is worth waiting for! 😂😊
That error code while raising the foundation can be bypassed by temporarily removing the staircases that are already in the build, just plop them outside somewhere. Then the foundation can be raised and you can put the stairs back.
You could make the wife an elder as well, and have the child be their grandchild. After their son passed away they took his child in and are now raising him.
Lovely build! I like the idea of changing storylines to fit your own game or even eliminating them all together. FYI - gas fireplaces can back vent no problem leaving room for a window.
This is a great build!! And a great story!! I do like the idea that there was another son in the military. Maybe his son actually died from the strange illness and George spends a lot of time trying to figure out what exactly killed him, hence the rift in the family? And I agree 100% , we need ladders!! Would so like to have folding ladders for attics and treehouses!! I so want to build a treehouse!!

I love this house! The roofing is amazing and the layout is so great. I also love the idea of giving George a deeper storyline. Your idea of having him have a dead son is definitely great for storytelling. I also think the George's wife should be an adult (mid to late cycle) named Penelope (after the plane). The child in this household can be their second-born, who was conceived late (I'm leaning on the kid being a boy). The kid could have been a toddler when his older brother passed away. The two may have marital problems because she blames George for the death of their older son and George may feel like their younger son is not his own (since he's a paranoid Sim), so his relationship is strained.
same thoughts, i was thinking of making the plane crash site a community lot! i was thinking of making a motel - gas station - diner combo, where people stay when they visit the town. the motel is owned by george and it's pretty run down, small, and shady, but the burgers are really good there

I love this house 💖 you are so talented! I'm jealous. 😋 While listening to the story you want to give to this family, I thought that maybe his wife is a nurse and they met in the military because she once took care of him and it was love at 1st sight. Then, now that they're married, she knows how dangerous is his job. When he went away, painting became a very therapeutic hobby and even when they had difficulties having a baby (and maybe lost their 1st son), painting really helped her coping with her feelings and grief, while George became a workaholic. Maybe, it was even her who painted her lost son portrait that hangs in the dining room. Hahah, idk I thought it fitted your story pretty well. I hope it will help you with their background story. ☺️

You could do a collection of stop motion videos for your starter homes. IMO it’s easier to do stop motion when you have a completed build vs rebuilding them all together.

If youre just getting it for build and buy I would definitely wait for a sale, it's a very specific style/theme you wont get to use too often unless youre going for the DIY or western themes a lot

The foundation error glitch is usually connected to the stairs i have found that you have to remove all the stairs , adjust the foundation then replace the stairs is the only workaround.
that error code with the height of the house is some glitch to do with roofing. there's no easy way of telling which piece of roof is causing it, the only way to get around it is to take the whole roof off the house and put it in the garden and then put it all back when you're done with the foundation
To make something period correct or to flesh out a story but maxis hasn’t provided the item needed such as a ladder or bunk beds etc, in my opinion it’s perfectly ok to use cc.
Here’s a storyline: Maybe the portrait above the fireplace was his first born and he “died” under suspicious circumstances. George used to be a high ranking official in the military, always loved his job. His son admired him so much that he joined the military too. And when his son passed it took a big toll on George, he became depressed and withdrawn from his wife. So in an effort to help him she suggested they try for another baby, it took some time but yay! They had a miracle baby. George was happy for a while but it didn’t last long. Maybe one day his wife asked him to clean his old military junk out of the attic (he’s retired now?) and he discovers some things of his son he hadn’t noticed before. As he starts to dig, he discovers his son was put on a secret mission in Strangerville because of a military accident and cover up, and now everyday normal citizens were disappearing and acting strange. What else will George discover? They never did find his sons body after all. Perhaps he’s alive?! Maybe when his son remembered how proud his father was about serving his country he no longer wanted to play a part in the cover up. Maybe he went into hiding? Or worse, someone is keeping him captive. Find out when you simmer, finish this story yourself! 😂😂

that error code with the height of the house is some glitch to do with roofing. there's no easy way of telling which piece of roof is causing it, the only way to get around it is to take the whole roof off the house and put it in the garden and then put it all back when you're done with the foundation

Here’s a storyline:
Maybe the portrait above the fireplace was his first born and he “died” under suspicious circumstances. George used to be a high ranking official in the military, always loved his job. His son admired him so much that he joined the military too. And when his son passed it took a big toll on George, he became depressed and withdrawn from his wife. So in an effort to help him she suggested they try for another baby, it took some time but yay! They had a miracle baby. George was happy for a while but it didn’t last long. Maybe one day his wife asked him to clean his old military junk out of the attic (he’s retired now?) and he discovers some things of his son he hadn’t noticed before. As he starts to dig, he discovers his son was put on a secret mission in Strangerville because of a military accident and cover up, and now everyday normal citizens were disappearing and acting strange. What else will George discover? They never did find his sons body after all. Perhaps he’s alive?! Maybe when his son remembered how proud his father was about serving his country he no longer wanted to play a part in the cover up. Maybe he went into hiding? Or worse, someone is keeping him captive. Find out when you simmer, finish this story yourself! 😂😂
