After 24 years since the first time hearing something I can never have. I come full circle every couple years. Back to listening to Trent’s art. I’ve yet to hear an artist who I feel reads my mind and puts it into a song.
‘Something I Can Never Have.’ That song, those words…it made me cry, broke my heart, made my soul ache. Yet I loved it so much in a self loathing way and a healing way. Fast forward, I have to use discretion when I listen to it. Otherwise I may not know how I’ll feel afterwards.
I was supposed to see them in Nov. before they canceled all their 21 shows. I just listened to Year Zero for the first time the other day and my god. Made me so bummed that I'm not gonna see them, yet incredibly confident in Trent's ability to break me down and build me up with anything and everything he creates.
Shame on you demons for all that you've done. In your hearts you knew better and you chose to continue. None of that matters now that God says you have to stop or face the consequences of your own actions. I guess I just wanted to tell you, your the reason I am Not afraid.
I always thought it referred to the fact that we set up false divisions between ourselves, we define our selves as ones and others and zeroes, and we kill each other over whatever arbitrary numbers we assign or are assigned with.
Dude. That wasn't just static voices. That was a subliminal message with symbolism I've never heard in any song ever. He's a fucking revolutionary if I've ever seen one.
sometimes i think that Trent leaves music a certain way so it can be interprited like this. He's made plenty of "still" albumns, but i just feel like he leaves it up to us
Wow...Trent has the most amazing gift by bringing so many of us to our knees, reaching way down inside ourselves and for me...taking me on the most incredible musical journey to places I never knew existed.
@@triplebarreldarrelOf course, he thinks that knowing some fact makes him intellectually superior to other people. Let him, he clearly needs it very badly. Bless his heart.
Excellent remix of this song..I love it and would love to take it with me when working out! The download link doesn't seem to work, is there anywhere else to download it from? Thanks!
Yeah, those are just about the only ones worth hearing off that album. I just hope that Trent decides to come back with another NIN album. I'd hate for The Slip to be the finale. Even if it is years from now, I hope some day he is inspired enough to make something NIN related.
You know Trent (or any artist) doesn't make art to "please" the listener so they call call it "masterpiece" or "it sucked";they make it to send a message or emotion, or it may just simply be what he needed to do at that particular time in his life. If you make a song and put it out there for people to hear, are you expecting either "I'TS A MASTERPIECE" or "IT SUCKS!"? No. People are so quick to judge and it gets listened to and judged before you even hear the music. Just something to think about
A beautiful remix. Zipalooie is right though: it ought to say that this is your remix in the title. Not doing so is rather deceptive. That said, I'm definitely going to favorite this video; I love the way this sounds.
@zipalooie Naah come on. Year Zero was released 2007 and Still 2002. Long before Trent let us remix his songs. Anyone knows this is a remix and if someone don't, he will get it when watching the video. And I'm not going to trick people, I'm going to find suitable titles for my tracks.

Same. Never has there been a musician that better captured and allowed me to work through the trauma of life on earth as a human being.
He is just, JUST being him self. Remember that when you think of all the good, bad & ugly he has been through.
He is LUCKY. TO IT. 🏡

I discovered musician from my 18 year old son, who unfortunately passed at 41 two years ago. I’m so glad he turned me on to this man.
never ceases to amaze me how awesome the "still" versions of songs are....could just lay on the ground look at the sky and just listen to these...
Still true, 2024
Last thing Trent played live as part of Nine Inch Nails.
This track tenderizes my soul.
Love it and know it’s not original but I’ve been a fan since 1996
The lyrics here could be applied to everything. The music is simply extraordinary. Perfect. All of it.

I hate to say this but I think I like it even more than the original! Awesome work! ^ ^

This is my favorite version of Zero Sum, too bad this version isn't in the album.
Gorgeous. That's the only word that really says what this is to me.

Damn, so much more beautiful than the original. And I love the original. All we are worth, just zeros and ones.
This is the version I was looking for, which I thought was lost to (c) trolls for a time.
