Vidya Balan is showcasing Odissi as a dance form along with Madhuri Dixit performing Kathak.Hence the expressions, twirls, foot steps ,hand movements and gestures are very different and restrained especially in Odissi format.I feel one must experience the full sequence in the film which is around 6 mins and its context in the film to critique , rather than viewing the 1 min teaser scene.
Any time I hear face-off dance, the only song that comes to my mind is Vyjayanthimala vs Padmini, Kannum Kannum Kalanthu song, from Vanjikottai Valiban movie, Tamil classic.

I am not a dancer, but I think there is nobody who can match hrithik. He is so graceful and there is something very aesthetic in his moves, which doesn't come through in tiger and Shahid. Also sai pallavi in rowdy baby I think nailed prabhu deva's choreography.

Well put buddy. Perhaps one of your top 5 works. Great explanation of the difference between a trained dancer and an instantaneous one. The same applies while demonstrating a sport too. Just compare the cricketing skills in Lagan (even the English cricketers’) with that of in Jersey or Dhoni etc
Jammy - I think you should preface that this is only for 90s and beyond, because talking about dance combos and not including those of Vyjanthimala or Sridevi or Meena Kumari has to be a crime.
Madhuri dixit is so much above everyone in any form of dancing that no one can come close in next 100 years . One more point she had more face off than any other actress in the history of cinema which shows that she is so confident of her skill and had guts to take the challenge fir eg prabhudeva .
priyanka was/is complete bollywood heroine that bollywood underutilized. If only she had the support that was given to Katrina she could have been a huge star.
Shobana ma'ams dance for Manichithrathazhu (bhool bhulaiya's original) will forever be the epitome of classical dance I have seen in mainstream cinema. The expressions which she conveys and the grace with which she does it is ❤

2:10 That is so true. When I actually saw Madhuri Dixit in the song, I thought did she get botox? Seriously I was only excited for her and Vidya Balan but that excitement is now washed out.
jammy please make a video on how today bollywood culture is heavily dependent on creating viral or trending move instead of making cult classic songs for reference tauba tauba (trending or viral steps) chaiyaa chaiyaa (which was created for actual song and dance)
Both vidhya and madhuri tried to do justice to the choreography given to them. But watching the video is like watching something ChatGPT generated. Unnatural and bizzare.
A Marathi movie that recently came out Phulwanti, absolutely destroys this CG mess BB3 has created. What a shame that talents like Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit are wasted like this.
Am I the only one who feels nowadays the drive to make every dance routine go viral has distorted the true essence of choreography. Like the pursuit of virality has fractured the soul of choreography .This shift somehow made me dance routines feel more like a checklist of trendy moves just for the sake of reels , promotion purposes etc.
Thank you for bringing up Kathik's performance. Bechara, looks like he is trying too hard to make it work in Bollywood. Reminds me of younger Akshay Kumar but less "flair and finesse". The only time I could see him dance well was in the song "Nachunga Aise" where it is all mo-cap CGI Karthik bouncing up and down.
I am guessing Vidya Balan's below-par performance is deliberate. There is certainly an angle of jealousy in the story somewhere, thus the mismatch in choreography. Madhuriji is 57 years old. She can dance very well and may be even better than Vidya Balan. But it is likely that she cant do many takes for same dance moves. So they used superimposition instead of side-by-side dance-off.
Shobana(Manichitratazhu) vs Madhuri Dixit will be the only and real face off! Ami Je 3.0 should not be called a face off as this is between a trained and non trained person.
2:50 As a CG compositor the floor is not an error from the makers. It is probably a long shot and they might used a trolly for for camera and the trolly rig was coming in to the frame along with some shadows. So they are cleaning up the floor in post. However the makers needed the shot for the promo so they rendered their WIP with out the contact shadows and mostly they will be fixing it for the final version. After watching the full video I just realized along with De-Aging they have done slimming of Vidya Balan so they shot her in a separate layer when there is a overlap and the motion controlled camera that they used didn't give the anticipated output.

P.S.- So glad I clicked on this video because I needed a break from the craziness of US elections
I agree
Yes. Nothing can beat that performance. Two brilliant dancers coming together.
exited for shans podcast with pj
It has to be heavily edited LOL! No way the rough cut can go public
@@TriedRefusedProductions 😂😂😂
@@TriedRefusedProductions I hope there's a rant about a certain kannada movie y'all reviewed and were unfairly forced to take down
Popular Woman SLB dance face-offs
Dola re dola re (Aishwarya and Madhuri)
Pinga gapori (Priyanka and deepika)
Two of the iconic songs ❤
Number 1 has stood the test of time for over 20 years! Iconic indeed
It's pinga g pori not pinga kapori
Pinga g pori means let's play pinga o girl🙏🏻
And here I was thinking, why did they look like they were dancing in 2 different sets because of all digital rendering.
I totally agreed with all this points.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 the last one was iconic 😂😂😂😂😂
STREET FIGHTER
@TriedRefusedProductions man I absolutely love ryu's hadouken❤❤❤
I wish bhoolbhulaiyaa went full on Multiverse madness. Alternative universe chandramuki/nagavalis appear in a single movie
Shobana, Vidhya .,Jyothika ..(sadly soundraya no longer with us)
Aaj ki raat song of don film
Priyanka chopra and Isha koppikar dance face-off with SRK ❤
Even the music is ethereal
Slman & wicked sunny at the end was Wicked haha 😄 😆 😅
Anees Bazmee has no idea how to use the shadows and the poor cgi which is sad, because the DOP Manu Anand is not bad at all, his work on Fan and Zero is outstanding
How Kangana Ranaut spontaneously matched the steps of Hrithik Roshan when she doesn't know how to dance?
We all should appreciate vidya mam that she didn't avoid faceoff with madhuri mam like alia did in ghar more pardeshiya .vidya mam knew her weaknesses will be shown but she was ready for that but alia was protected by all bcz they didn't want to expose alia weaknesses so only alia dancing was there in whole song nothing to do with madhuri mam so that ppl can only see, alia dance so well .ppl need to realize all this .
Look hown many times we talk about Bhoot Buliya 1 even not the original one. Bcoz of how great it is & perfect.. whenever Bb2&3 and compare them
Priyadashan is great director/film-maker 😊😊
Why are the recreating nostalgia why can't they do something original even the movie bhool bhulaiyaa that was released in 2007 was the remake of the 1993 Malayalam movie manichithratazhu
Why can't Bollywood make an original movie rather than recreating nostalgia 🤦
Absolutely...
Because you would rip on it regardless
I am not a dancer, but I think there is nobody who can match hrithik. He is so graceful and there is something very aesthetic in his moves, which doesn't come through in tiger and Shahid. Also sai pallavi in rowdy baby I think nailed prabhu deva's choreography.
What does Hrithik have to do with this
One of your best videos! There is something that happens to you when I see you talk about dance, my friend. Maybe you should take time out to concentrate on that too. You clearly seem to be in love with the art form.
The most iconic dance with two performers, in recent times, you missed, "Naatu Naatu" actually deserves its own video.
Thank you for bringing the airbrushing up… its so jarring to watch two ethereally beautiful actresses given such an edit artificially… they are beautiful bhai… stop making them inhumanly perfect
Episodes where Jammy talks about dance just hit different. You can see he's truly in his zone and element.
You literally say my mind at last... i literally got headache while watching bhool bhulaiya 3 title track.. Enough Kartik Leg steps🤕🤕😆😆
I’m sad you didn’t mention ‘Badi Mushkil’ with Madhuri Dixit and Manisha Koirala.
And here I was thinking: How come the review is out even before the movie is released? 😅
In defence of ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’, I think the songs are flamboyant and fun. The song vibed well with everyone.
I doubt average person would notice so much technical details about the song , but kudos to you for pointing them out
Whoa! Super detailed analysis. Quite original .
Jammy - I think you should preface that this is only for 90s and beyond, because talking about dance combos and not including those of Vyjanthimala or Sridevi or Meena Kumari has to be a crime.
Greatest faceoff: Sir Himesh De Niro v/s Prabhu Deva Gyllenhaal in Badass Ravikumar.
Thank you for mentioning Kay Sara Sara. I love that song and Madhuri and Prabhu deva's performance.❤❤
When u are dropping next dance routine ...????
Spot on!! Each n every point.
Be it about dolare, dhoom, bang bang, pinga, priyanka shadowing anushka, ami j tomar 3.0 & commonking kartik's footwork.
They had really killed it with "Jai Jai Shivshankar" in every aspect. From the bomabastic combo of Hrithik and Tiger to beats and choreography.
Shobana ma'ams dance for Manichithrathazhu (bhool bhulaiya's original) will forever be the epitome of classical dance I have seen in mainstream cinema. The expressions which she conveys and the grace with which she does it is ❤
Loved today's content Jammy. Expecting it's part 2. Really want to see more face off results.
bro makes videos on twitter discourses, has left his own unique voice
Why on earth would they digitally render their faces & placement 🥹
Their natural look is still beautiful ❤️
I think its a trend problem vs specific to the film. Just airbrushing everything!
@@TriedRefusedProductions Yeah that makes sense … Like you rightly mentioned, they air brushed the hell out of SRK & Salman 😂
Just why! It’s not like they look bad.
I absolutely enjoy your dance analysis videos ...a treat 😍
Matlab kuch bhi series was a distant memory as Jammy has now become Gajni and doesn't remembers the series 😢😞
I m not even concerned about it this time beacuse when i saw it for first time it just made me sold to bb3😅
Seeing Madhuri mam dancing in ami je tomar is enought😊
My dream dance movie would be the one starring Hrithik, Shahid, Tiger and supported by Shilpa Shetty (who BTW is an amazing dancer) and villain being Prabhu Deva. 😮
4:59 Tripti is still practicing and her part of the CGI will be superimposed in the theater version of the song. 🤣😂🤣
2:10 That is so true. When I actually saw Madhuri Dixit in the song, I thought did she get botox? Seriously I was only excited for her and Vidya Balan but that excitement is now washed out.
What an observation, I only observed madhuriji, coz always loved her expressions & moves
When talking about dance anmol gets super emotional! Aap to bahot bhavuk ho gaye jee!
Just saying Jammy, apart from being one of the most trusted movie reviewers, you are also a stunning dancer
jammy please make a video on how today bollywood culture is heavily dependent on creating viral or trending move instead of making cult classic songs for reference tauba tauba (trending or viral steps) chaiyaa chaiyaa (which was created for actual song and dance)
Both vidhya and madhuri tried to do justice to the choreography given to them. But watching the video is like watching something ChatGPT generated. Unnatural and bizzare.
Baap level n spot on analysis Jammy Bro💥🔥
10:17 totally agree with everything you say 🤣
Negativity sells … or gets views in the case of TH-cam … sad world we live in
This is barely a negative take on anything!
A Marathi movie that recently came out Phulwanti, absolutely destroys this CG mess BB3 has created. What a shame that talents like Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit are wasted like this.
Maybe in the movie also Madhuri is better dancer which makes Vidya jealous, which we could see small glimpse in song as well.
My bharatanatyam dance teacher would not let us on stage without completing the steps lolll
This was a very technical yet fun episode. 😊
Thank you for bringing up Kathik's performance. Bechara, looks like he is trying too hard to make it work in Bollywood. Reminds me of younger Akshay Kumar but less "flair and finesse". The only time I could see him dance well was in the song "Nachunga Aise" where it is all mo-cap CGI Karthik bouncing up and down.
this is what i wanna see on this channel!!!!
I also love the dola re dola dance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani by tota roy and ranveer singh
Aamji tomar frm bhool bulaiyya 1 is a mish mash song where dancer is wearing odissi costume but dancing bharatnatyam steps with kathak bols
Shobana(Manichitratazhu) vs Madhuri Dixit will be the only and real face off! Ami Je 3.0 should not be called a face off as this is between a trained and non trained person.
We get it Jammy, okay I'll watch Dola Re Dola again......
This looks like like a flashback for the movie
2:50 As a CG compositor the floor is not an error from the makers. It is probably a long shot and they might used a trolly for for camera and the trolly rig was coming in to the frame along with some shadows. So they are cleaning up the floor in post. However the makers needed the shot for the promo so they rendered their WIP with out the contact shadows and mostly they will be fixing it for the final version.
After watching the full video I just realized along with De-Aging they have done slimming of Vidya Balan so they shot her in a separate layer when there is a overlap and the motion controlled camera that they used didn't give the anticipated output.
this was a rant session, and we're all up for it!!! YOU GO GIRL!!♥
It's a absolute disgrace that they didn't utilised Jammys Dancing in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom 😂😂
