Villa Vie is just one red flag after another. What pisses me off at the most is when you ask anyone involved why aren't the renovations done, they now say it's due to the unexpected rudder issues which needed fixing first. What utter BS. The people doing the renovations (electricians, plumbers, painters, carpet layers, etc.) are in no way involved in fixing the rudder. Renovations are months behind and they have no good reason for it. My guess would be they don't have the money to pay the amount of people they need to finish it on time. Now they're expecting passengers who paid hundreds of thousands to sail with workmen onboard, so that they can finish off while the passenger are supposed to be relaxing. That's if they ever sail. Red flag, red flag, red flag. I would be cutting my losses and get a lawyer to get back whatever I already put down.
In their own contract it says passengers are entitled to a refund if the ship fails to sail within 15 days of the scheduled embarkation. So they don't need a lawyer per se to get their money back. I imagine some already did get their money back. I certainly would.
@@rebeccahowell6538 bit of a grey area. They say you’re entitled to a refund of the full Fare, but Fare is not the same as Purchase Price. The way I read it is you’ll get your monthly Fare back until it sails, but there is no provision for refunding the Purchase Price of the cabin. If they offered a full refund of everything paid so far, I think most people would’ve “jumped ship” by now and they’ll be bankrupt
Why in the world would you get so “pissed off” over something you have no involvement with? If the people who are buying the cabins were fine with their being issues before finally sailing, they have not paid any cruise fares yet, are ok with their deposit being held in escrow, are currently being paid a daily stipend, and get free food and drinks while waiting then more power to them. I would love to be in their situation. There is lots of actual injustice in this world to be upset over. This isn’t an issue, just some poor foresight.
@@allent1034 People smell the stink on this and don't like being lied to or scammed. There are real people who bought cabins on this vessel and are being conned IMO. That's an educated guess, using logic, deductive reasoning and not emotion. The passengers are emotionally and financially connected to this idea. Outsiders can see it for what it is- a joke.
@@rebeccahowell6538 True that the length of recertification delays are getting ridiculous but that may be more because it has never been done and the owners and inspectors are figuring it out. I have been a signed up and paid resident intending to be traveling on the Villa Vie World Cruise since December of 2023. I flew over to Europe to begin my journey when the ship was supposed to embark on May 15th. I am a solo female senior citizen and had been waiting in Belfast for 3 months, through the numerous delays, many hotel rooms, fast food for months and my health going out the window waiting for this cruise to start week after week. Obviously being frustrated I expressed myself in a private WhatsApp chat and the company took offense to my critical remarks and without notice terminated my 3 1/2 year contract leaving me stranded in Belfast with my belongings on the ship. I had to find my way back to the States with no help from the company and as of 6 weeks after the termination my belongings have not been returned and my money has not been refunded. I am looking for legal representation

@@JennyatSea What on Earth? Why wouldn't they give you your belongings back while in Belfast? Were you barred from coming on the ship? How much do they now owe you? Did they pay for your stay in Belfast? This is disgusting and I'm so sorry that this happened- but can you see that this guy- Mike- is a conman? This ship, if it does ever get certified, is going to be one problem after another. My friend was conned by a company in Texas the Attorney General of Texas's office knew about the dirty dealings of the company and handled the case for her and she won. However- the company filed for bankruptcy- so she didn't get a dime. So- my advice is to get a Florida lawyer to handle this with VVR. My two cents- they are going to file bankruptcy pretty soon and all the happy campers are going to be in the same boat you are (pun intended).
Villa Vie is a small old ship that looks like it will take a long time before it actually sails. I have been following some TH-camrs who have purchased some "villas" although I would not consider 140 sq. ft. a villa by any means and these people seem like they are living in La La Land. The food that they showed looks awful, the ship is old and needs a lot of updating. I think the owners are making too many promises that they cannot keep understanding that it is a "start up". I guess if you are retired or are wealthy, it would not bother you to wait until all the quirks are ironed out but when is this ship sailing already???? I would have demanded my money back already as I have no patience seriously. Also, if I ever decide to retire on a cruise ship, it would need to look a whole lot better than this one.
I am following the youtubers too, they all seem like really nice people so I hope it works out for them, but it just seems odd that it still needs so much work doing on it. The owners don't seem very professional.
I think the mindset of these cruisers is different from that of traditional cruisers. They see this as a house that needs updating. They are in it for the long haul- 15 years, so what is a couple months? They get a per diem and many have traveled since May. Steve and Angela (midlife cruising) have been on long cruises with NCL and MSC in June and July- plus visits to Spain and all around Belfast. Lynette and Johan have been to Tenerife, Croatia, and a bunch of other places as well while waiting. They plan to live on the ship- so aren't in a big rush, since at minimum they'll do the 3.5 years world cruise. They are probably annoyed by the wait but they aren't missing their vacation. They'll have a long, long cruise ahead (if, the ship actually sails).
I agree the owners shouldn’t make promises on the dates. But if I were an owner, I would be fine with the progress since they aren’t charging any fees yet and paying the owners a daily stipend while waiting. The food looks like food to me. Some said it was the best tasting they have had on 50 cruises.
@@allent1034 As long as they have quality food onboard- they won't need a lot of quantity. I've done river cruises that made lone or two offerings per meal- but the food offered was so good- like wonderful home cooked meals. You'd have cobbler with ice cream for dessert or banana foster made table side. Really great. It was 100 passengers and only snacks during the day were chocolate chip cookies and pop corn. It was fantastic and some people stayed on the riverboat all winter long. You just hop off the river cruise- no scanner or security (was in the US though). So cool. I could have lived on that boat because so few people and life was slow and easy. No tv's- we read or played cards. The crew were like family. Hopefully this venture works out but at this point- red flags a waving.
@@allent1034 i think it's more of a cruise ship. Ocean liner describes something designed to sail the Ocean- like QM2. The Braemar with it's flat hull- isn't designed to withstand waves. The hull allows it to go into shallower ports of call that larger ships can't. The small vessel is going to be rocking considerably during rough seas, and in general.
@@allent1034 One not made for solo Trans Oceanic crossings. It’s a closer to a coastline ship, its hull designed to navigate shallower inland rivers rather than designed for open sea.
LOL. This is a typical shape cruise ship from the early 90’s. It doesn’t have a flat bottom and it’s not a river ship. It has sailed between Europe and the Caribbean numerous times. There is no need to guess about what type of ship it is or where it has/can sail.
I said the same thing. You are looking at a 75 to a 100 million dollar ship that costs a boat load of money to keep up with the maintenance and show a profit. That is an old ship that has promise. Because it is one ship the credit line for operational costs would be limited. I sailed on a cruise line when I took a break from flying 747 Cargo Aircraft for four years. I have 26000 plus hours flying and now retired as a Senior Caption with every endorsement possible. I made a ton of money flying and everything I own is paid for. I made my last 15 years at least 370k flying overseas cargo flights. Living on a Ship is fun but a crowded one is not. I always got a very nice room which I had sprayed daily with disinfectant and had a small Ionizer running on low all the time and knock on wood never got sick and hand sanitizer is an absolute must. It takes getting used to but I could live on one with no problem. Most interesting are the Captains who are the Boss. I had dinner with them plenty of times and most are really nice. Some have brought their families and stayed at my Texas Ranch. I do plan on trying this ship out when it gets operational and the Bugs worked out for several months but not until then. If Man Makes it Man can Fix it you just have to get it to the right Man. Those fire doors are not a big deal. I do love my Coffee and Breakfast delivered to my room every day that is a on time treat daily. I do smoke but I have not been caught YET!
Sounds like you worked hard and now have a great life. I had to chuckle though that a guy who sprays disinfectant, runs an ionizer because he is super worried about breathing in something harmful and then smokes is about as conflicted as possible. We are all unique aren’t we?
I’m hardly rich. I need a small ship due to arthritis. I am taking a Regent Seven Seas cruise in October and I’m concerned my cruise will be disrupted. RSS has sale prices that are equivalent to other cruises.
