An easy way to remember caput succedaneum (CS) is that it crosses suture (CS)!

Please incorporate all babies please. Some babies are dark skin and will not be pink. When you only teach for specific babies, nurse struggle to give proper care when presented with a dark skin baby.

This is fantastic feedback, thank you for taking the time to comment! I am a big fan of the "mind the gap" handbook of clinical findings in Black & brown skin (www.blackandbrownskin.co.uk/mindthegap) and would love to find a way to incorporate similar education and resources for findings in infants. Unfortunately, the information covered in this video is what is taught and tested for NCLEX, which is why it was covered in this way for this series. But I greatly appreciate this feedback and will work to find a way to incorporate it in future iterations of this series! --Meris

I 100% agree. And this is a part of the reason why care is so poorly given to black and brown individuals (both babies and adults!).

I thought about the same thing. I am an LPN and on our ELectronic MAR for skin assessment it only had pink as a color of skin. But they have updated and put brown skin or color appropriate for ethnicity.

Lol i passed medsurg, and i even did well on my first exam in OB and Peds, but this newborn stuff, im struggling to grasp the concepts. I really thank you for explaining this to me. My teacher explaining this stuff sounds jibberish.

These videos are so helpful. Pictures or even the word on the screen so I know what the word looks like would help though😅. I’ve bought the flashcards but that little extra would be so beneficial.

Too bad there is no illustration at all for those “important concepts”. It’s just all talking and nothing to visualize what we are talking about…
