♥️ “In a moment I was in a misty place full of fire in which there was a great crowd of suffering souls. They were praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; *only we can come to their aid.”* - St. Faustina (Diary, 20)
Praying for the souls of my dearly departed loved ones, and all of the faithful departed, on All Souls Day and always. 🙏🏼
🙏🏼 *Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.*
♥️ “The holy souls are eager for the prayers of the faithful, which can gain indulgences for them. Their intercession is powerful. *Pray unceasingly. We must empty Purgatory.”* - St. Padre Pio
*Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great for the Souls in Purgatory*
🙏🏼 Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
(Our Lord promised St. Gertrude that 1,000 souls would be released from Purgatory every time this prayer is said devoutly.)
♥️ “If, during life, we have been kind to the suffering souls in purgatory, God will see that help be not denied us after death." - St. Paul of the Cross
♥️ “No one is barred from Heaven. Whoever wants to enter Heaven may do so because God is merciful. Our Lord will welcome us into glory with His arms wide open. The Almighty is pure however, and if a person is conscious of the least trace of imperfection and at the same time understands that Purgatory is ordained to do away with such impediments, the soul enters this place of perfection gladly to accept so great a mercy of God. *The worst suffering of these suffering souls is to have sinned against Divine Goodness and not to have been purified in this life.”* - St. Catherine of Genoa
    *Purification Prayer* (by: Father Mark)
🙏🏼 Lord, purify me in this life, so I don’t have to be purified in the next. Amen.
    💀Memento Mori 💀
    ♥️ Viva Cristo Rey! ♥️

Father Mark Goring you are the best! I am just like you! Very impatient! And I want no part of purgatory and have been laughed at for saying so. As if I think I am that holy. I absolutely do not but I hesitantly ask God to give me an illumination of consciousness so I can make myself better now. Keep giving such wonderful homilies Father, you are very inspiring! Viva Cristo Rey!!!

I heard it suggested that you can ask your guardian angel to show you your faults. This way you start seeing them, like an illumination or conscience! Only you don't have to wait, you can start now. This showing means you can then ask God for graces to overcome and change. I do appreciate the guardian angels!

    • @mec325
      @mec325 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

There is nothing in the Bible to confirm such a belief. When we read the commandments of God according to (Exodus 20 or Deut.5) we can easily find where we fail before God, no need for angels to make us aware of the moral law of God.

    • @janicezucco7555
      @janicezucco7555 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

I agree with you! Our guardian angel stands before God with our prayers and petitions. I believe the illumination of conscience is coming to the whole world very soon!🙏

    • @gkseeton
      @gkseeton 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

@@mec325 we have blind spots so it is sensible to ask a friend to help us recognize our faults. I consider an angel who is not among the fallen but assigned by God to help me a friend. No need to “read” anything. You ask, then go about your day and it happens that you will start recognizing faults as you stumble over them.

Oh yes, St. Gertrude said a penny’s worth of suffering here is worth a ducat there, in purgatory. Yes, the devil wants us to be afraid. I asked the very same thing a long time ago, to do my purgatory here. Charity is huge plus especially for the Holy Souls. I read this the other day and I thought it was brilliant. Someone said when they pray the St. Gertrude prayer for the Holy Souls they use the rosary. The prayer releases 10000 souls each time it is said devoutly x’s 59 beads that’s 59 thousand souls released! Outstanding! ❤

One Saint I read or listened about recently said "The people in purgatory go there because they did not desire heaven enough" DESIRE HEAVEN forget about settling for purgatory. Desire to be with God for eternity forget about hoping just to get saved. Desire God because He is God. Lord how I long to be enveloped by your presence and united with the Saints and to see your most Beautiful Mother and to thank the Angels in person.

I laugh when I hear you, Fr., because I have the very same thoughts of impatience and frustration. My 74 years have been successful but also anguished by my love of the LORD. Many trials have come my way. You’re right, purification is a lot easier here than in Purgatory. So I say,”Thank you, God, for this purifying trial given in love so I won’t spend a long time in Purgatory.” We must be tried in the refiner’s fire, like gold, silver, and special steel. It’s worth it. As Jesus said, the world to come is 100 times better than anything on earth. ✝️

    Dear Father,
25 minutes of traffic jam is a great gift from Mother Mary…it’s time for a Rosary or “Roadsary” or a “Jamsary”😊
i used to get super agressive in these situations too until i realized….in any waiting line or traffic jam….i can pray the Rosary🙏🏻🕊🌺🕊🙏🏻 since then i’m actually glad for the “waiting time” because it’s a wonderful prayer time with Mother Mary.
And yes absolutely…no purgatory…the goal is great holiness…straight to Heaven bringing many many many souls along with us!!!
Sufferings in purgatory can’t increase our love for God…but each cross in this life carried in abandonment with and for Jesus allows us to increase in our degree of love for God. We pray that we never waste a single cross…which is in reality a kiss from God.
i love this from todays Vespers:
    Concluding Prayer
    God our Father,
    the contradiction of the cross
    proclaims your infinite wisdom.
Help us to see that the glory of your Son
is revealed in the suffering he freely accepted.
Give us faith to claim as our only glory
the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
    God, for ever and ever.
    -Amen.
    DISMISSAL
    May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life.
    - Amen.
    🙏🏻Praise be to JMJ!🙏🏻

A nightly examination of conscience, done in a spirit of prayer, is very useful to help advance in the spiritual life. Did I mention I am looking into a mirror while I’m typing this? - because I REALLY need to step up my game. The sacrament of reconciliation opens up the floodgates of grace and allowing God to exercise and strengthen your conscience, will help God remove vice and build virtue in your/our lives.
Thank you for your Love poured out on the cross and the gift of the resurrection our Beloved Lord Jesus! We open our hearts, minds and wills to you! Lord Holy Spirit recreate us in your gift of baptism and may the gifts and fruits you’ve given us flow more freely! Purify us and make us like you. Please remind us throughout every day to step back and look at ourselves and our actions as you see us and help us to follow you (“He leads me in right paths for His name’s sake” Psalm 23). Amen, and Amen Lord.

I had that in 2018… I stopped drinking totally, I confessed over and over again, I returned to church, I made preparations to receive my Confirmation at my old age but I wanted it, I pray daily listen to Catholic podcasts daily, listen to Father Mike Schmitz and Father Mark also Relevant Radio. I don’t care about the wants of this secular world. I am not perfect but I’m trying and hoping for forgiveness in this life because I don’t want to go to Purgatory either. My life has been filled with more challenges than others… I won’t go into them here but all I say is Count your Blessings of health and family every day because in an instant they can be gone. I discovered the word Metanoia in 2018 and that began my journey back to the Lord. 🙏

@@lumpichu Gentle, yes, God is with me, too. He permits extremely difficult things, but He is gentle. He created us just SO, knowing exactly how intricately individual we are for His specific purposes. I know being a Saint Paul would be impossible for me. That was the sort God made him and He treated Paul quite a bit harshly!
His ministry needed that kind of tested faith. You have a call. I have a call. God deals with us in ways that fit and sustain us for it precisely. Isn't that comforting to know?
He knows every hair on my head, and every one left in my hairbrush this morning. I'd say no one else is that attentive to me!

I learned patience when I had my children. I still need it, God is helping me. He has helped me so much. I don’t want to offend Him. As in today’s 11/5 homily from our priest, when we make the sign of the cross before the Gospel reading. Always have the Lord on our mind, heart and speak the gospel everyday. God is always on my mind and in my heart. I just said to one of our volunteers who’s in her 80’s that she swears too much & she couldn’t believe what I had just said to her. Maybe I was too blunt but they know how strong my faith is. These days so many people are lost and the people I work with just don’t want to hear it. It’s frustrating yet I continue to pray. Doing this alone is hard. I volunteer at St. Vincent’s de Paul and I’m like WHERE ARE THE TRUE CATHOLICS??????? I also volunteer at a different store where the elder woman kept swearing. Maybe I should just leave that place, it’s a thrift store but it’s also for helping the homeless. I was just offered to be manager of the store🤷‍♀️

Well October 3rd I had Kidney Stone surgery on my right side I was missing my mom and wishing to be with her. God let me know that I would be in Purgatory if I died at that time. This was after I had received confession and Blessing of the Sick. He told me that he needed me on this earth for a little while longer. I apologized for how I was feeling and thanked him for sharing that with me and yes I would stay on this earth for whatever purpose he had for me.

St. John Vianney says if we carry our cross well it will carry us to heaven. I was just thinking to myself this morning how in my mind some people seem to be just perfect, they have their emotions under control, calm, peaceful, prayerful, me, I am just the opposite. My next thought was will I ever make it straight in😔 but then St. Padre Pio says we need to rejoice in our trials as they are refining us. Jesus, in a spiritual book I was reading said “if you will turn yourself completely over to Me I will take care of your sanctification Myself”. Yyyyyeeeessssss. I think the short route straight to heaven is like St. Theresa the little flower, her child like way, complete trust and surrender. Mary once said to a visionary “don’t ask for a specific trial just accept whatever the Lord chooses to send you.” Acceptance, complete surrender are absolute key as I have been reading and patience in our trials is a biggie. Yes, I understand you completely. I have road rage in the grocery store😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

      Thanks for the great laugh!
Walmart is my mission field when I go shopping. You know, you keep facing the same person pushing a cart, no matter what isle you venture down. They notice, too.
" We'll just have to stop meeting like this!"
" I wonder why God has me meeting you so often today."
Just a word to start a conversation to lift their minds to the Lord - even for a moment.
Or the person staring at the shelves looking preoccupied about something other than corn fakes.
"You look worried. Are you ok?"
      "Can I pray with you?"
"You're not alone, you have an angel right with you, right now. He never leaves you."
Walmart is one of the few stores our area. There's a lot of hurt in Walmart. Sometimes a sweet word (You look so pretty in blue!") or a smile can make someone's day better, less lonely, less heavy - and raise their hearts and minds to God.
We can slow down the rush there, too, and Praise God for any traffic jams!

Walmart, oh my gosh. I am probably the only nut who walks around there thinking “is anyone here thinking about death, their salvation?” Probably not. I think about this stuff 24/7. Some people you just want to shake into reality and say “ WAKE UP!” People are in la la land. 🤣 Yeah, this conversation could go on and on. 😉

Very inspiring homily, Fr. Mark. I am getting ready to do a book launch on the Divine Mercy Conference with keynote speaker Fr. Don Calloway with his conversion testimony in San Diego. I was a prodigal son brought back to life through the intercession of our Blessed Mother 16 years ago in Medjugorje to save my marriage. I feel a calling and a sense of duty to strengthen the Marriage and Family Enrichment Program approved by the Church, so I am doing this book launch. Like the movie Sound of Freedom, I believe my book will rock the conscience of lapsed-faith Catholics. Saint Lucia of Fatima said, "The final or decisive battle between the Kingdom of God and Satan will be over marriage and family." I was in that battle hitting rock bottom in my marriage when the Blessed Mother entered the hotel room at 2 a.m. to lead me out of darkness to Christ. I did have a foretaste of the illumination of conscience in Paris on my way back to San Diego from Medjugorje. Viva Cristo Rey and Ave Maria.

Haha! The Lord is trying to purify your soul by giving you moments to practice patience to avoid purgatory! Been there but thankfully God has healed me internally from the things that were holding me back from being patient so have been doing much better with it after focused practice of the virtue. I will pray for you, Father! Keep speaking the Truth!

Waiting patiently through these delays can be a beautiful penance to shorten our time in purgatory. And I pray that the long-ago sins I can't forgive myself for are also part of an early purgatory. I might not be able to skip purgatory, but I pray to shorten my time there...delay the long wait there.

I have had the Illumination! Since then, I think, I HOPE, my concept of myself has radically changed. Oh, I’m no saint-far from! But it produced some humility in me. St. Francis prayed for God to let him suffer whatever in this world, this life, so he might immediately go to be with HIM!

I had one of the best reprimands from a person with moderate learning disabilities. Geraldine was her name and she just knew there was something i was in two minds about. I was making excuses to myself to avoid doing something that potentially would be quite difficult. It concerned my family. She spoke of her own family, its trials and the loved ones who tragically lost their lives in a boating accident. She said she looked forward to one day seeing them in heaven. She then asked me why i hadnt made up my mind about the thing i ought to do. I felt so neglectful and it was true. She spoke so simply but firmly that she completely held my attention. I have met her a few times since, she lives in supported accomodation. She seems to sense when people are in need of prayer. I believe Geraldine is a living Saint, as after she spoke to me i immediately got on to what i should do.

I asked for the graces to take action and respect the graces/gifts/insights etc that she reveals. Our Lady of Sorrows is very loving indeed.

¡Viva Cristo Rey! dear Father Mark, patience comes with age, although my Granny said that "Patience is a quality that you seldom in a woman and never in a man" she was the first feminist I met in my life, she
was a pioneer, she spent more than a year herding sheep, cows and horses from the Bs As. province
to the tip end of continental Patagonia, and as an old lady fan of James Dean, she would very impacient if the plain was not in time to go South.

These questions may look silly, but I'd really like to know: How do I pray? Should I, like, talk to myself while pretending I'm talking to God and expect Him to answer me back? Should I talk, vocally, or think?

    • @jeanb.5405
      @jeanb.5405 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

No questions are silly if intended to truly learn from them. When someone is in your house but they are in the next room or just down the hall and you can't see them but you know they are there, you talk to them and should another person walk in on you they might think, why are you talking to yourself.... you are not your talking to another person who is just not in sight. It is the same with the Lord. Realize first He is present with in a room in your heart - then talk to Him and if He answers you, you may not realize it at first because He may do so with some action by another person or some event you needed to occur - or He might answer you by a sudden realization in your heart/mind of what a particular scripture means and how it applies to you specifically .... or you may be fortunate and actually hear His voice. Just be open to however He wishes to answer you and wait. But don't stop talking to Him.

Fr. Mark had me laughing here, because, the way he expresses his impatience sort of hit home. 😂 I could so relate.
Then again, Fr. Mark frequently hits home. Or rather a home run, if not the ball right out of the park. Always transparent, humble, honest - and pretty smart for such a young whipper-snapper. 😁 I say that with all respect. Thanks Fr. Mark. 🙏🏼🤗

I still struggle with praying for the souls in purgatory. My dad was an abusive alcoholic. He died in 1993. My mom stayed with him (44 years) and I watched her enable him. He went to a couple of treatments but it didn't do any good. He drank until he was bedridden, and that was only the last two weeks before he died at age 66. He made life tough for his family. My mom often said over the years, "I'll bet he's still paying for all of the bad things he did." I can't help but think that sounds fair. I finally had a Mass said for him this year.

God gave me an illumniation of conscience. I thought i didnt have many sins, but God taught me that was more the ways of the Pharisee. He taught me to take on the identity of sinner even though i didnt feel like it or know it. So i pray every day, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. It brings me joy. We dont need to know our specific sins to take on the identity of sinner. Maybe youll read this Father. I hope it helps 🙂

Father, I heard a story about a nun in purgatory. When she said that the average time a soul spends in purgatory is 40 years, I fell apart. I can’t imagine staying away from my Lord this long. I long to be with him, to love him, kiss him, adore him, and worship him. Count me in in that prayer. Lord wash me in your precious blood and purify me, because I need you each and every day.
