@wallyinwales Being that the song talks about days gone by and not forgetting those we have lost and sharing kindness with others even though we have suffered... i think the song is some what fitting to reign in the new years. It is less sad, more poignant in the sense that it evokes a feeling of grief meeting joy and the willingness to change for the best.
According to the show QI which is shown on, BBC Entertainment, Robert Burns did not write Auld Lang Syne. But Robert Burns often receives credit for doing so for some reason.
As he did many. Burns was as much a researcher and conservator as a writer, travelling all over the country noting the auld songs he heard. Without him a great lot of Scotland's rich heritage would today be lost.
