Lovely Chub at the end, those Salmo Hornet plugs are very good, similar to the Shakespeare S range in action which l have been using since they came out, the advantage of these lures as you've shown is their ability to fish effectively at various retrieve rates, look forward to watching more of your lure fishing videos.
I love mini cranks between 5 & 7cm and they have caught me a lot of large Perch, Pike and Chub from my canal. My favourite are Westin Buzzbite which are suspending and are perfect on canals. Brilliant video as normal, informative and entertaining nice going mucka.
Great vid mate keep coming plus proper respect for mentioning another you tuber , Adam from London perch finder another great angler . Fully enjoy these vids .
Another cracking video Nick, a really interesting watch and what a fantastic fish to cap off the river season. I take my hat off to you for even trying for chub in those conditions. I know from experience that flood conditions do chuck up the occasional big lump but it’s usually when fishing really big smelly meat baits for barbel - I’ve certainly never been brave enough to intentionally fished for them though. Well done mate 👍
Jango Jango yeah, a big smelly bait would surely have been more effective. But you know when you get something in your head! 😂 Didn’t think I stood a chance. I got lucky! Thanks for watching 😉🎣👍
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together!! Wonderful chub mate. Sadly looks like we're going to have to wait a while before we can get out again, I just squeezed my last pike trip in before the clampdown, but March was kind.
Another great video. Really enjoy your videos. I’ve dabbled with dropshot and jig fishing for a couple of years and there’s some great videos of people catching fish on these methods and Ned and cheb rigs. What I’d love to see is a bit of an idiots guide into when you turn up to a venue what makes you decide what method to fish, whether to use creatures, fish, worms and what dictates the colour you use for each. Is it weather, temperatures, water clarity etc. Would love see a video showing something like this.
Happy days what a chub top angling i enjoyed the tip about try fishing small crankbaits slowly and let them rise i will give it a go mate cheers tight lines
Great video mate. I know this river very well and had e few PB`s pike, perch and chub from there. There is also a few special big brownies which I guess you know about :)
DomFishingUK I was using the 4.5cm, too big. They do a rattlin 3.5 which I was struggling to get hold of. Definitely going to experiment more with these. What brand do you use for the minnows?

As you are a really good lure fisherman, have you tried lure fishing for trout? I really enjoy lure fishing on small wild streams for wild brown trout. Great fun with salmo and mepps. Really enjoy your videos, well made 👍🏼🎣
That's a stonking Chub! My biggest chub on lures is only 4lbs 8oz cracking fight though on light tackle, really impressed with your channel just subbed.
Yes nick i know i hate close season on the river but it gives the fish and the water time to recove nick take a look at the salamo minnow crankbaits had some good days fishing them now i will have to get a couple of rattlin hornets i was jealous watching you nick HA HA keep safe mate tight lines ALIEN
Hi, I have seen you use the Chartreuse Blue hornet the most and you mentioned that it was your preferred lure in another chub crank bait video. I what your thoughts are in regards to why it works so well? I am unsure whether to get it because I fear it will be too bright for clearer water. Would liked to get your thoughts on this BW
Yeah, love a Chartreuse hornet. I hear what you’re saying in terms of clear water though. I have a couple of other colours to fall back on but the Chartreuse seems to always score well! Maybe get a Holographic Perch and Silver Holographic Shad which are more natural. You can then use those if the Chartreuse isn’t working. 👍
Never caught on a crankbait . Got a load of them though . Fishing stuff is like my Jewellery . I dont fish much but collect a lot of it . I do get some funny looks when im walking down the street with a Shakespeare small S hanging from my earlobe though . I just tell myself that they are the weirdos !!!
What size rattling hornet were you using for chub? 4.5cm I bet much want to get a couple of these and try them myself as soon as we are allowed out! Edit- rewatched and found out myself, too vid bud 👍
What net is that? Iv just got a small fox warrior net but it seems a tad weak at the connection, was only cheap and it's nice and light for lure fishing. I alway lift a fish out by the actually net and net head so I won't put a great deal of weight on the handle amd the quick release connector anyway.
Mate, definitely check out the new Korum Snapper Fast Net. Flips into action really nicely and has built in net magnet in the handle so you can attach it to your bag whilst roaming 👌
@@Lifeonthebank iv dropped a few hints for the net to my missus 🤣 on a serious note are they worth the money? There's a lot of good nets around that price range, would this be a good option? As I don't normally pay that much but would for a solid net.

my go to lure for chub is a white or yellow inline spinner

Great vid again, inspired change of lure, have some hornets (even smaller) myself amazing action.
Rob thanks mate. Yes, I need to get my hands on the smaller ones. Reckon they’ll be even better. 👍👍🎣

You can drastically change how much a lure dives by using your rod tip alone. Keeping it high will keep the lure high and vice versa

What’s the rod and reel mate ?
Jack Sparrow MTP Zander Finder. Find on insta @mtp.predator . I also use Korum rods too, the Finesse Jig. Reel is a little Daiwa Ninja 2000.

MTP Predator Tackle

Hey! Could you please tell me what diameter and weight leader did you use in this video?
0.25mm fluorocarbon. It’s 10lb bs. If there’s pike present I’ll also use a thin wire trace. 👍
