Discontinuing the free shuttle to and from the strip hurt that place a lot, combined with stopping the show in the sky thing years ago gave us no reason to head out there. Hope the new owners make it worth the trip over there soon.

Must say I miss The Rio of old, I’ve many fond memories of its early days. It will be fun to see what’s ahead. Thanks for your positive take on this slightly faded flower. 😊

You are so right Paula, Caesar’s never cared about the Rio. They probably thought it was successful as is. We loved staying there. You and Dale did a fabulous job showing off the property, made it look like a great place to go to. Hopefully the remodel and Caesar’s out of the picture, they can bring it back!!

LOTS of memories of this place, and it was our go--to in the 90's. The Carnival World Buffet was OoooK, but the "Seafood Buffet" on the other end was the spot. The Martini Bar with over 50 Martini's, and the Live Show with the Floats, the entertainers throwing out Beaded necklaces, just brings back great memories.

DO NOT STAY HERE AT THE RIO!!!! I CHECKED IN TODAY...LEAVING AND FINDING SOMETHING ELSE. IT'S DIRTY...SHEETS WERE NOT NOT CLEAN WHEN I CHECKED IN..NO BLANKET...PILLY DIRTY SHEETS AND COMFORTOR WHICH HASN'T BEEN WASHED..STAINED CARPET...NO COFFE POT OR MICROWAVE AND YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO BUY A COFFEE POT AND USE IN THE ROOM...ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE OLD UNCOMFORTABLE MATTRESS AND THREE REALLY SMALL CRAPPY SMELLY PILLOWS PLUS YOU GET TO PAY AN EXTRA $500 RESORT FEE...THAT GIVES YOU INTERNET AND A GYM...GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT THE GYM LOOKS LIKE AND I DON'T USE A GYM. HAVEN'T TRIED THE SHOWER BUT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD. I AM GETTING THE HELL OUT OF HERE. A NO TELL MOTEL WOULD BE NICER AND AND YOU'D GET CLEAN SHEETS AND A MICROWAVE AND A COFFEE POT AND BETTER BED. I don't know how I missed this video. I am so excited that someone else has bought the RIO. When we moved here in 2002 it was our favorite casino. We celebrated our anniversary there. I wish they would bring back the parade in the sky and the Buffet. The KISS mini golf is the only reason we go to the RIO now. I am a huge KISS fan and we had our vow renewal at the old location. The Gene Simmons minister you showed is my friend LV Gene. ❤❤

Although we never stayed there, we did love going to the Rio for the show in the sky, pop-up performences, and the Seafood buffet. Carnival buffet was good, but the Seafood buffet was the first place I know of that had unlimited lobster tails! I also remember that you had to get a ticket # which would allow you to get a entry #....so the wait to get seated was easily over 2 hours!! I'm sure that provided great gambling income from those of us waiting to chow down on lobster & various other fish. Also loved the Strip view from the top of the parking garage - but that was before the new tower went up. Once again, thanks for the memories!

I play in a pool tournament that is in the Rio every year. The Rio got so bad that we decided to stop staying there after Covid we stayed in Planet Hollywood in 2021 and 2022, and the Flamingo 2023. We will stay in the Flamingo again this year and we just an Uber or get a cab from casinos we stayed at on the strip.

The Rio was a favorite place to stay for a long time. We haven’t been in a while because it is so sad to see how bad it has become. The buffet was so good that we, as locals, would always recommend it to anyone that asked for good dining. The food prices have gone up while the portions have gotten smaller. We really miss the old Rio. I wish the new owners would get feedback from visitors as to what should be done in the remodel. I will say that if a food hall is put in rather than bringing back the buffet, we will not be returning.

Before I moved to Vegas, the Rio was always my favorite place to stay when I visited Vegas as a tourist. It's a shame what Caesars did to the place, almost completely neglecting it over the years. I'm excited to see it get revitalized by an owner who actually cares about the place. The property has great bones so there is a lot of potential there. It would be great if they brought back the Show In The Sky, or something equivalent. The place really turned into a ghost town when they stopped doing that show.

We stayed there in 2007 and thought that it was one of the better themed hotels. We didn’t like the location, but thought it brought a kind of excitement especially with the show in the sky. We were loyal Ceasar members but have switched to MGM, Boyd, and Stations casino. Maybe the new concept will shed the loud, kitchy theme type hotel for a more quality, casual but luxury type hotel that will provide a first class experience over excitement and crowds. Instead of drunken fights maybe sophisticated casual approach like Red Rock or Green Valley Ranch.

Rio used to be a nice Hotel/Casino. Used to be always crowded. What I like about it is it's near the Gold Coast and the Palms Hotel/Casino. Also on Flamingo Road is one of my favorite restaurants, Blueberry Hill. Once the Rio gets redone I'm sure that the World Series of Poker will come back. Not a fan of Starbucks. I just visited Vegas for the first time a couple weeks ago and stayed at the Rio. Not gonna lie, I was kinda disappointed. Everything seemed closed, (I was there 4 days and didn't see El Burro open once) the hot tubs in the pool were broken, the laundry service wasn't running. The only real nice thing was the affordable prices and huge rooms. Smash burger was good, the all american bar and grill had amazing nachos, and the hotel being less than 1 mile walk to the strip was convenient.

Your first visit, in midsummer, and you walked back and forth from the Rio to the Strip?! 😱 For your first time it would have been great to be on the Strip itself…hope you had a good time anyway!

I was just there at the beginning of August for the Star Trek convention. Let me just say, the only redeeming factor was the Mexican restaurant. Every other factor was just nothing but hot garbage. I had such good memories of that hotel from the early 2000s, and thought that now that I’m well into my adulthood, I would finally get one of their nicer sweets. Boy was I wrong! Failed air conditioning, stuffed up wet bar sink, stinking shower, peeling wallpaper, some previous guests hair gel stuck to the bathroom walls, and each night a 40 minute wait for the elevator because one out of four elevators to the masquerade tower was down, another was dedicated to that steakhouse, and so there was literally only two elevators for floors 22 through 50. it was so bad they actually gave me all of my money back on the room, they knew it was bad.

I went to the Star Trek convention as well, but of course didn’t stay overnight. This was a terrible experience for a Las Vegas visitor to have to endure - makes me shudder. That total makeover can’t happen soon enough.

Paula & Dale ❤ your channel always anticipate your next post been coming to LV 4 times a year for past 25 years however I would always advise newbees to avoid Rio and Palms then on the East the Virgin all of them are too far off strip stay at a city center property whether it’s Planet Hollywood Bellagio Aria etc and be right where you can walk anywhere BTW wish they would have imploded Rio and build stadium there versus the classic Tropicana which will really destroy a true strip landmark.Dale know you have performing history at the Trop anyhow love you both and can’t wait for my next trip in 2 weeks!

I don't care much for the center strip area. It has gone downhill while also becoming more expensive. I don't like Caesars properties and there are too many of them in that section of the strip.

The Rio has the largest cheapest rooms in vegas. Can get a 5,200 sq foot for like $700 or less a night. 2,000+ sqft for less than $300. Thats without merging companion cards or using any (diamond level) discounts.

Don’t forget to tell everyone that most of the restaurants are closed or very limited hours.I recently stayed there for 4 nights and Hash House was not ever open and neither was Guy Feirous
The room was terrible and no service to clean it or restock anything, toilet paper, tissue or anything, I realize they don’t make the beds or clean the rooms daily but not once in 4 days. No drinking glasses either.. I will NEVER stay there again !!
