    Thanks, nice deep dive into a very premium product. They do seem great and I'd love to have one, but: 1- If you are prone to losing equip, a $230 capo doesn't seem like a great idea. 2- Other manufactures like Paige, Taylor, Shubb, make that same style, so no advantage there.

      @@BulldoggerJKI think many of those people understand the difference they just don’t feel the value is equal to the price. I heard Bob Taylor in and interview with driftwood guitars say even in a factory machines can only do 25% of the work necessary to build a guitar.

    • @BulldoggerJK
      @BulldoggerJK 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bobsmith-ji2uh I understand they probably don’t see the value. It’s mostly heard and felt. I’m not necessarily talking about machines when I say hand built. Machines are used all the time and very necessary in any modern operation. Taylor and Martin are slapping the same bracing in every guitar. They’re not tuning each top and shaving braces accordingly. That’s the kind of thing I’m talking about. Getting the best out of each instrument. There’s more care taken when things are built individually. Temu exists for a reason. Most people don’t care about the quality. They care about the price.

    • @bobsmith-ji2uh
      @bobsmith-ji2uh 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BulldoggerJK oh I think everyone cares about quality. I think people just weigh whether or not a $5k boutique guitar sounds twice as good as $2500 Martin or Gibson. I don’t know. I guess it’s subjective. I’m definitely not knocking spending any amount on a guitar or gear that someone wants. No one needs to justify their purchases. Sometimes it’s just a cool thing you want. Again I own an Elliot and like it but it’s $150 more than my shubb and I don’t hear any difference but that’s just me.

    Ya know, I have owned 2 Elliotts over 34 years of playing, and the only problems I have ever experienced were first, dirt/sweat getting in the screw, which is easy enough to clean out, and add a drop of lubricant to, and second, once the leather pad on the saddle got loose, because I was tightening it over a volute, a little glue between the pad and the saddle and it was good as new. You see these people that every time they put a capo on, they have to start tuning? That is because of a bad functioning product, the need for a fret job, an instrument with a horrible set up, or a user who tightens the capo down too tight. Nothing is worse than having an instrument that is well conditioned, and using a capo that pulls you out of tune every time you move it. That’s part of what you pay for here, it’s called precision. Don’t get me wrong, I wish they were free or deeply discounted too, maybe one day the government will subsidize them, or perhaps some charitable organization will get involved and help us all get a free one. I have tried other products with a similar design, and cheaper price tag, and unfortunately found them lacking. At one time I thought, I want the cradle design, but some padding on the sides would be nice; I bought one, only to discover I hadn’t thought about how the rubber on the sides would decrease sustain on my Guitars, which of course, it did. i’m not saying every other product is inferior for me, because there are some things I haven’t tried, but so far, Elliott is the one that continuously does the job.

    I’m calling bullshit on this one. I own 13 guitars, Martins, Gibsons (one is a Banner J45 with a huge neck), Nationals, and two custom made by individual luthiers. How many of these things would I need to fit the different necks? My Shubb works on all of them. I loose a capo every 5 to 10 years. I’m 72, do the math.
