[HT Story] Journey To Endgame Speakers Part 2: Detailed Overview on Paradigm Persona

As the endgame speaker upgrades are in view, I want to take the opportunity to review the highlights of the Paradigm Persona series and what makes them special. Speakers and audio are highly subjective and largely a matter of taste. Not everyone will prefer the look and sound of a particular speaker but the important thing is to find what works for you. In this video I will explain why the Paradigm Persona "works for me" and is indeed a special speaker. I'll also outline how a speaker costing upwards for $40,000 is in fact a tremendous value given what it brings to the table. You don't have to come away thinking that the Persona series are the best speakers in the world but hopefully you'll see an example of a world class speaker and more insights on what to look for in your own journey!

Great video TTG! Now you have me looking at Paradigm Personas. The 9H looks pretty insane. But I'm still thinking of going for all architectural (in wall / in ceiling) in my new place. Currently leaning towards JL Audio subs and Focal CI 1000 series for the full-range speakers indoors, and debating between JL Audio Pavilion and Focal Littoral for outdoors. We have a Focal showroom here in Austin so I'm going to audition the Focal stuff in a couple weekends.

Thanks Songy San. Yes the 9H are killer for the money! Focal is a great company and their CI and higher end stuff is world class indeed. I almost got the Focal Sopra but I felt the Persona was a little better for Home Theater purposes (plus I already have matching Paradigm surrounds so it's easier for me). Hi. Thanks for watching. I did a really in depth analysis on exactly why I choose the Paradigm Persona speakers for my "endgame". In short, there were 3 reasons:
1. 9H price was a bit too much to bear for me (7Fs were already at the edge)
2. My system is a Home Theater with 2 subs so the additional powered woofers weren't really necessary for me
3. I already have an Anthem AVM90 with ARC Genesis so again the built in ARC in the 9H was somewhat redundant in my case

Did you listen to the Founder 120H towers with three 8” powered bass drivers? It’s a hybrid in which you power the mid and tweeter with your own amp. A lot of good things are being said about them. They retail for $9000.00 a pair. What’s your thoughts on the Founder 120H and have you heard them?

Yes I have heard the 120H before although I didn't spend a ton of time with them. I've also heard the 100F and the bookself Founders so I have some experience with it. Great looking speakers and generally high quality all around. Compared to the Persona, there is a clear difference and step up IMO. The sound signature of the Founders is a bit more neutral and not nearly as revealing and detailed as the Persona. Furthermore, my impression of them compared to the previous Signature serious is that the mids and highs had a bit more air and detail with the Signatures (similar price). The bass is definitely better with the Founders though. Again the Founders are just a different design with a more laid back and neutral sound that is more reminiscent of something like a KEF speaker. Personally, I prefer the more detailed and forward sound of the Persona but to many the Founders will be more than enough.

The Founders are a greater value than the Personas. Yes, the Personas sound a better overall, but do they justify the additional cost. About 3 times more than the Founder's. In 40 years in hi-fi, the higher you go in cost, the more minimal the differences are in sound quality.
