  • A short tourism video about Atherstone in Warwickshire.
Atherstone lies on the old Roman Road, Watling Street, and was once a felt hat producing town.
Now a bustling small market town it has plenty of attractive heritage to boast of.
The Market Place with its 18th century buildings, the Station House and The Old Swan, which is the towns best example of a 16th century timber-framed house.
Theres the Old Bank House, the old coaching inn, and the Red Lion.
Atherstone is developing as a book town and is starting to feature many small and unique bookshops, similar to Hay on Wye.
On the outskirts is Merevale Church, which was once originally the gate chapel of the majestic Merevale Abbey.
    See www.warwickshire.gov.uk/towns for more details.
