Would you like to know why Jon's voice sounded very close the recording? Its the technique guys, here he sang using his full chest voice with some belting which sounds great, but this kind of technique can easily make the his voice tired and will destroy his voice with continous usage. So, Jon tricked it in tour and long lenght performance with a mix voice along with nasal technique. Jon with this type of singing will get easier to hit the high note and safe to use continously, but yeah he will sound a little bit nasal. Why wouldnt he use this nasal technique in this tv performance ? because i guess they only played 1 song for the tv, also the notes werent so high. Jon would be able to sing it properly just as the recording.

@@SamboraMX Yeah this appeared for a short time as a heavily compressed video in a FB group. I do have it, but still am hoping for either the original version or at least for me to succeed getting the crackle noise out of there :D
@@hAnD90 Because of them taking out the drum loops when playing it live the song sounds way too slow. I've no idea why they dropped it, with it it just sounds so much better.
The only live version that matches close to the original. Every other is tuned way down and jons not singing in that raspy tone. And tempo is slower. Still like the song though not criticizing. Just pointing out differences
he did it with Bruce Springsteen too, almost in the original tone, maybe because he didnt sing 20 songs as in a own concert. The best voice performances, after the 95, wheren't made in concerts ... They were made in tv shows and very special ocassions. best regards

This is one of the songs that time destroyed... Even on great tours like LH and TC, never sounded the same as the Crush/OWN tour...
They stopped using the drum loops which is a huge part of the rythme section.

Was this completely live? I'm pretty sure there's some sort of drumming plugged in at the very least.
There definitely are pre-recorded loops and drum samples jacked way up in the mix, no doubt about that. But it made for an energetic rendition :)
