In 1961, my principal would not allow girls to wear divided skirts. Even as a first grader, I marched up to the podium and showed her the divided skirt that I was wearing, and I told her I needed to wear it to school to "get more wear out of it." From the mouth of babes.

My grandmother has a similar story where her high school finally allowed girls to wear pants in the late 60's. Then they moved from Minnesota to Indiana and she had to wear skirts again and she was terribly upset about that.

Not for bicycles- the divided skirt only splits in back and can fall to either side of the bars/wheels when seated!
