You have just tapped into and entire new community of players. I see this series doing really well. With your enthusiasm, and innuendos I see many in the SE community flocking to these videos.
I think the only thing that could make watching Skye play this is having his wife playing so she could help and gather resources like she did when he made his valheim castle.
Quick advice from a Space Engineer veteran. I know Skye covered some of these. Hopefully, someone found one useful. 1. Converting ice to H2, then burning H2 in a hydrogen generator is a power positive process 2. Build planner is your friend. Right click a unbuilt block to add it to build planner. Middle mouse to pull bits from containers. Shift middle click to add bits to production. 3. Cobalt takes a long time to process and is used for large grid storage and advance production buildings. I recommend storing raw ore in a non connected cargo container until you either need it or if you have a good surplus of other ingots. 4. You normally get enough silicon from stone mining, but never enough iron. Nickle can be supplied by stone until you start building atmospheric thrusters, then find some Ni ore. 5. You can create custom gps markers by pressing Enter to bring up chat, the type "/gps " and press enter again. If you just enter "/gps" you create a generic marker. Recommend naming markers as you make them. 6. Survival Kits only take steel plate to upgrade from small grid to large grid. 7. Wind turbines only work if your large grid is static. This can either be done through the Info tab in the "k" menu or by using landing gear. 8. You can right click drill from a ship if you add the drill to the hotbar from the tool section. After adding to the hotbar, be sure to select the tool to operate it using the mouse. If you hold down the mouse while opening the "k" menu, it will stay active, allowing you to work on other systems. It will stop when you leave the control seat. Hand tools you can double press the mouse to hold active. 9. You can access inventory from the survival kit screen (the part used to heal yourself). You can pull bits out and deposite items in. 10. You can use a vent set to decompress to refill oxygen tanks from earth like atmosphere. Vents will only decompress a space if there is available tank space.
I'd also add when you're early game, grind your ship down some to get steel plate for a refinery, and use interior plates instead if steel, they use less iron to make.
@@chaoskiller1758what you mean by "fixed"? Point 7 is working as intended since only statics should benefit from wind turbines. You probably mean by "fixed" the issue, where only the first placed turbine was visually spinning, though all generated power. This was just a visual glitch and nothing else
If you tap Z while in flight you turn dampeners off. It will reduce your hydrogen consumption, just remember to turn them back on before you land or your knees will go through your skull.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you’re playing space engineers I’ve loved this game for a while and I’m really excited to see the narrative you create in this sandbox world as you have a particular set of skills that excels in creating a narrative :)
This was my first time...watching Space Engineers. I am impressed how good it looks and it might be complicated enough to challenge you...for awhile. This was a great way to quell a panic attack , looking forward to more
Space Engineers is a game I have been interested in for a while, but haven't taken the time to learn yet - this series might be the push I need to get in to it! Much as I enjoy your timberborn content, I've been loving the recent introductions to games I'm not familiar with. I'd definitely support a schedule of alternating between timberborn series and mini-series highlighting games that are new to you!
Don’t be daunted by the initial learning curve, you are going to make mistakes. But after a while you will start to get the hang of things, and you can build some crazy contraptions. Set up a creative save where you can test stuff out, Klang is watching and knows no mercy 😅 ( Klang is when things go horribly wrong and everything explodes or gets launched into space, for those who don’t know SE, he is SE’s vengeful god😂) and watch Splitsie’s tutorials, they will speed up the process significantly
I found your channel to satiate my need for Timberborn gameplay, but honestly I’m so excited to see you play Space Engineers! I hope you enjoy yourself
Had some of my most fun with mates online playing this game. Absolutely chaos when ships start going and you start drilling with ships. So many accidents 😂. Have a blast Skye.
Been watching Skye since Sim City...10 to 12 years now! Has kept me nightmare free since the Academy came to be. Now waking up to him playing this is the absolute best ever!!!! Already cease-fire in the middle east from the sunshine that is Skye and Picture Perfect. We all love you here and thank you so much for all the years of beautiful building and content. Hope for many years of success mu friends!!! All hail Skye and Picture Perfect🙏🌌✊️
Just from thumbnail and title I knew the exact ice lake it was. Me and my friends have started there more than once. It was also the place most of us met when big multiplayer update happened and I had my server full at 64 players. Fun times.
welcome to a whole new world of creativity, Skye... there is literally no limits to what you can build in SE.. if you have seen it in real life..(even in sci-fi etc) you can build it in this game.. wait until you get into hinges, pistons, rotors, event contollers and timers... ooooh yes.. cannot wait to see what you come up with (a bit of advice tho.. get the dlc.. there is a lot.. but they are cheap.. and they will enhance your builds no end) edit - also.. get Picture involved.. playing with more than one person is the best way to play SE
Very true, walking mechs, space elevators, factories that auto- builds your drones.. the sky is not the limit, nothing is in Space engineers. Minecraft on steroids for adults
no freakin way you play SE!!!!! if you get into this and are willing to learn the timer blocks and programmable blocks you're going to have a lot of fun!
No way dude been watching you since before simcity but not seen many of your vidoes lately until this game. I love space engineers got like 4k hours. one of the best games going. glad you're playing it now'
Don't normally comment. But seeing someone with idears as big as yours playing this game is just so exciting. Been my ho to addiction for many years. Can't wait t9 see what u dream up.
Bro, I just wanted to start watching one of my longtime space engineers channels series again (like Splitsie, Kanajashi, Wellington… or even Captain Jack with whom it all started for me) and here you come out of leftfield starting your journey to hail the almighty CLANG!!! LET‘S GOOOOO!!!!!!!
Top SE channels for sure..there are some very talented builders out there, and if you are really into SE, try a server, I really enjoy playing on the expanse server (super immersive)
Great Video Skye! I brought Space Engineers a while ago and struggled to play it so put it down, but being able to watch you do your amazing builds will be the push I need to get into it!
I would love to see more of hotel architect. The bright colors and sound effects andlong with the silly names of the staff brought joy to my life. I was really looking forward to seeing the other hotel designs. Are you waiting for the full version to play the rest, or was I the o ly one that voted to continue that series? I looked around and couldn't find anything regarding the playthroughs of the other hotel locations... maybe it'd bring in a new audience? (I feel like the meme of the anime woman crying desperately, but for more hotel architect)
casualy talks about all the ores in the start location not mentioning the ICE LAKE witch is kinda vital for everything... I'm going to love this series
I would absolutely love to join you in a game and show you the real possibilities of Space Engineers in terms of Drones, automation and of coarse fun and mischief 😇😎
If you love designing and being creative, you will have loads of fun. Not many objectives or goals present in the game, so you will need to make your own fun. Not everyone's cup to tea. Looking forward to this.
Hey Skye I know I left a relatively negative impression of the other space game from the previous series but this one is alot more interesting for me in the base building versus just spaceship building and flying around in space. Can’t wait to see the progression this series! Awesome start with the name lol
5:00 I totally agree about inventory space for management purposes that alone would have killed the last game you played with that little space to work with ! 😂
Eartlike starting locations can be like that at the best of times. Good luck with the new game on the docket. Set up a static grid miner connected to your starter base using a hinge to fan out the drills placed horizontally on a set height. Place it on a full block above the anchored block, so you don't drill lower than the external ice lake. This will let you make a large hangar easily and automatically. Just move the fan forwards manually. Don't use pistons as they flex and make uneven levels. It's best to use pistons for vertical holes and shafts. If you move by 0,1 m/s, you can drill without crashing the drills into what you're removing. I am looking forward to the continuation of the series!
Good luck Skye, this is definitely not an easy game to dive in blind and straight to a series, brave..very brave. Absolutely my all time favourite game, unlimited possibilities, just respect Clang! He will mess up your day 😝
If you start "ooh piece of candying" with the unknown signals you will be "ooh piece of candying" all series 23:33 you should use the conveyor tube junction that was next to the straight conveyor in the g menu, not because of the junction block itself, but because it has the + sign on the icon...meaning it has multiple blocks that you can select with the mouse wheel...something like 7 different blocks for one toolbar slot for that particular part
May Lord Clang be merciful, and your builds be glorious, im really hyped to see what you can do with this game. Ill try to not backseat, but its possible i cant resist at some point, enjoy the ride :P
Be efficient. When you weld staff, you atomatycly put all peaces you have in inventory. There is no point of leavig staff unbuild, parts are already there. Also, when you fly long distances, turn your dampners off, it will save you hydrogen. You also can turn off lights if you want to preserve pover. Also, when you will build a large grid ship/vehicle, remeber to make it walk friendly. The ammoumt of hydrogen bottles with hydrogen left in them displayed above hydrogen bar. Same for the oxygen.
Hey, A good mod to install is Sneaky Sounds. It will tone down the volume of the tools and that's it. A good QOL. Saves on the ear drums. Nice to see you delving in SE. Interested to see what building lay in the future.

Glad you are on SE , great game , tip you don't have to claim the unknown signals if you are standing by it grinding it down it won't despawn. Also if you replace your seat on your pod with a cockpit you can then fly your pod to your base spot , be carefull if you try with only downwards facing thrusters your movement is based on tilt you give it , very gental Inputs .also if it has a port , port to port connection is fine no need for conv. tube , look up splitsies sorter tutorial very easy and a game changer , but basically your machines refiner , assembler...etc will pull what they need automatically from wherever .
This looks like a fun series. Got to be honest, the other games (obviously NOT including Timberborn) didn't quite catch me, even with your wit and humour I just wasn't hooked. But this one is different, I am invested now and want more :)

A comment on your build processes. Welding to functional is fine, but you are putting all of the components into the block. There is no point in not welding up to 100% in that situation. Welding to functional only helps when you're short on components. Also, using some small QoL mods, even as a noob is worthwhile. Sneaky sounds is an absolute must!
Dear Skye……. Lol. I’m not going to do that to you. Been playing for about 5years. Glad you are giving this a try. Is very fun to build and solve physics. Oh I wish you could play a scrapyard survival series or an assertive acquisitions with other modular encounter system mods. this is going to be great you and SE it's going to be fun. oh better resources combined with scarce resourses are also great mods. oh and you need grabby hands (mod name improvised engineering) as well it is pretty good.
I vote for the construction of ruins so that the space engineer universe merges with the Timberborn universe. After the humans abandoned Earth the beavers took over but also one human engineer also returned to try and save the planet. But you don't know beavers rule the planet now because you landed half a globe away from their settlement, which isn't necessarily bad as they are like 8 feet tall from the radioactive bad water.
to get best power wind turbines should be 8 blocks spacing hop you enjoy this game i been playing 10 years it very addictive i usually build a rover b4 a ship it carries more and you can travel for ores enjoy

A comment on your build processes. Welding to functional is fine, but you are putting all of the components into the block. There is no point in not welding up to 100% in that situation. Welding to functional only helps when you're short on components.

it does have some really nice views some times!
the skybox could really use an update but there are plenty of skybox mods.

This was quite a well informed start in SE. You must have played the game before or watched a fair bit of Splitsie.
I love this game. I'd play it more but I got too sucked into mega builds that take 20+ hours to complete.
Shagger base, I dont like alot of videos but you deserve one

this is going to be great you and SE it's going to be fun. oh better resources combined with scarce resourses are also great mods.
oh and you need grabby hands (mod name improvised engineering) as well it is pretty good.
Beaver got bored with conquering water so they want to conquer space.
Install some vanila frindly mods like 'auto pick up ore' , and some other QOL mods to make anoyenses more bareble
