This is great Mike - thanks. What string gauge are you referring to when you say 'lighter' gauge for your El Trovador ? I'm in the process of buying one (with hotplate) and am hoping to be able to use '11 gauge' which is the gauge I am comfortable with for my other acoustic guitars. I'll be playing primarily in standard tuning. Do you have any comments on this quote : "Many players of round necked resophonic guitars use regular acoustic guitar strings instead of resophonic guitar strings. Acoustic guitar strings are of a much smaller gauge and lower tension which allows the use of normal E, A, D, G, B, E tuning, as well as playing by fretting rather than using a slide.. This is common among players of standard tuning guitars who wish to switch to resonators as well as those who just prefer standard tuning."
It's called "Things About Comin' My Way." It's an old Tampa Red song from the 30's that was likely inspired by "Sittin' On Top Of The World" by The Mississippi Sheiks, but most people know it from Guy Davis.
Hi, Mike has a segment on Peghead Nation's "Advanced Fingerstyle Workhop," where he teaches Mississippi John Hurt’s “Let the Mermaids Flirt with Me." You can check it out free for a month by using the code Music17 at check-out! pegheadnation.com/string-school/courses/advanced-fingerstyle-workshop/

Sweet tone.
Mike says the Trovador has a 4" body depth but the National website says 3.12". I wonder who is right?
