Sarah, the brake lines have a qwinkie tube configuration. Qwinkie tubes reduce excessive vibration in hydraulic systems by smoothing out the pulses of positive displacement pumps. This helps with wear and tear and helps prevent cracks in the steel lines. The traction control system is probably main reason for incorporating this in the design of the brake system. Qwinkie tubes are usually used in the hydraulic systems of aircraft. I appreciate your wit and humor!!

Had a '16 4runner up until this year. It was great off road, always felt in control and solidly planted, but it was an absolute dog on the highway, so slow and with so much gear hunting. It was terrible climbing up into the mountains, felt like a liability at times. Swapped it out for a Colorado Bison, no regrets.
Have a 2024 Off-Road Premium, just finished Idaho, Utah and Colorado trip. Handled the Altitude and Mountains. The KDSS was great on the highways. Going 80mph on highway for hours was easy.
One of the few vehicles that hasn't been updated in a dozen years where that is what makes it great. You should buy an older 4Runner and restore it, a third gen restore would make a very popular video series.
Those unused holes in the transmission are often actually there to mount dealer purpose workshop brackets to fix the transmission on a transmission jack 😉
That hill is deceiving, I have taken my lifted JK up and down it, for some reason, even when straddling the crack, at that one point the suspension goes full flex, kinda fun actually.😁
Love that colour, really wish we still got 4Runners here in Oz. You can still get the blower, but you buy it directly from Magnusson, and it doesn't have the TRD branding, but it's the same unit.
They always provide the TRD Pro for testing. I wish they would provide they Off Road Premium with KDSS for testing. I think it's a better value, and the KDSS makes it ride better. I bought the ORP with KDSS and I wouldn't trade it for the Pro. The KDSS option also comes with stiffer shocks that don't have that terrible nose dive issue when stopping.
I have a Gen 1, 89 4Runner. I'm the original owner. I'd love to take the 22RE and trans out and put this engine in and trans in. I'm with ya on the color....outstanding. Stay well kid.

@@SarahnTuned For off-road I can totally see that. Sadly I haven't done any since moving from Tahoe to Florida more than a decade ago. Since I've always been a tech geek anyway, the more tech the better for my daily driver/road trip car. 😁

I have been all over off roading with an SR5 with Atrac and have never needed the different modes or a locker. However I am not rock crawling or going places that the odds aren't in my favor that I am not making it out or I am likely going to break something (hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself my making that comment :) ).

Squiggly bracklines are for vibration absorbing to prevent cracks
Great video and awesome footage of doing what a 4Runner does best. It's a jack of all trades but still manages to have a lot of character. I'm pumped to be taking delivery of my '23 Pro in Solar Octane in a few weeks.
9:00 I have an FE motor that has a bit more bottom end. That launch was lawn glider perfect.
I just bought a used SR5. Gotta say that I love it so far.
I love the way you review cars/trucks. The jokes are pretty great too 😆👌🏽
I will forevermore refer to torque in Fig Newton Meters. Thank you!
Yeah, it doesn’t look like much on camera
Just the greatest 😊♥️
The ONLY vehicle I would trade my Jeep in for. Toyota builds it right, it may be lacking in just about every category but you know it will work!
I’m weird, I prefer less tech options.
@@SarahnTuned bought a 2022 tacoma based on the 'less tech'
no stop start, NA V6, old transmission, physical dials, and a touchscreen that doesn't stick out in the dash. it's slow, but don't care.
@@SarahnTuned For off-road I can totally see that. Sadly I haven't done any since moving from Tahoe to Florida more than a decade ago. Since I've always been a tech geek anyway, the more tech the better for my daily driver/road trip car. 😁
I just don't know about the need for the "off road cruise control modes." I prefer less tech options as well. I have been all over off roading with an SR5 with Atrac and have never needed the different modes or a locker. However I am not rock crawling or going places that the odds aren't in my favor that I am not making it out or I am likely going to break something (hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself my making that comment :) ).
A few modifications on a Off-Road Premium and it would be better than that PRO. Other than some severe off-Roading it would be much better overall off-roader and overlander than a Jeep, including not braking down.
It’s a great SUV just bought mine in white and planing to keep it for long time 👍
Nice review! I own a 2022 4Runner OffRoad in Barcelona red with the predator package. I love it!
I appreciate the tech specs. Most other channels don't get that deep
Still love my 5.7 l in my 10 Toyota Sequoia it has 209 km on it and still has all the grunt you want it's a tank and I Love my tree
I believe the bendy brake line is to give it flexibility so the other end can move around a bit without breaking.
