After flying MSFS for 2 years now, P3D just looks so bad now. I had up to v3.4 but after that, I didn't bother with buying any further versions as MSFS got announced, and I didn't see the point of buying full price for something that was still going to be worse than MSFS at release, and I was right. MSFS has been updated regularly since release and far far far outshines both P3D and XPlane 12 in both visual fidelity and flight modeling.(though there are some that will still argue against the latter). No, P3D is not longer the darling of the flight sim world, as it was only supposed to be for the commercial and military training sectors from the outset, so everything for it got more expensive for nothing more a license saying it could be used for flight training when the actual software was no different from the FSX versions that came before them eg A2A's line of aircraft. I know it is done to protect the developer but, why pay $80 dollars for a plane that does nothing different from the $40 version for FSX? Logically it makes no sense from the general end user's perspective, ie most of the people watching this channel. It makes even less sense when the same people say that they won't change over because they have X number of dollars tied up in P3D when it would still be obejective cheaper to buy not only the Deluxe Premium Version of MSFS and the PMDG 737 but a lot of the other planes that people fly in P3D are cheaper in MSFS as well, so that tired old argument holds no water. The only reason why P3D gained traction in the general community in the first place is because Microsoft stopped supporting and developing FSX and gave L-M license to use MSP(commercial version of FSX). With MSFS now fully supported by both MS and 3rd party developers, v5.4 shouldn't even register as a ripple in the water with 99% of flight simmers out there. The only ones lauding this are just the stubborn ones that fear change.
I appreciate your comment mate but I think it's a bit harsh. Hardly anyone argues that p3d is the better sim than MSFS and I even prefer MSFS over P3D when I fly the planes that are available for MSFS. However, in my personal opinion the planes are the most important part of a flight sim. So if I want to fly a 747-400 across the Atlantic the quality of MSFS does not help at all. And I would argue that seeing a 747-400 in MSFS is not before 2025. So still long time before I drop flying in P3D. You are right when comparing similar aircrafts of course. So when I want to fly PMDG 737, I always use MSFS these days. No doubt. But there is still a lot of reason for people to use their P3D setup
MSFS 2020 is like the pretty younger sister. She is firm and soft in all the right places. You want to get close to her. When you sit down to talk to her however, you realize she has nothing on the inside. This works for some fun but wont last. MSFS 2020 lacks any of the features it needs for long haul flight. VFR MSFS 2020 rocks. If you want to jump in and do a real-time flight that works. Long Haul and IFR is a joke. It is why I will not be buying the PMDG 777 for that sim. What's the point? IMHO.
@@tjpilot5913 I do not even use the 737 in MSFS most of the time. It is missing radar data. How do you fly around the Southeast in the summer time with no weather radar? You might as well fly the DC6 and pretend it is 1948 again.

What is Prepar3D doing? I feel it is shooting itself in the foot. Please do not get me wrong I love Prepar3D they have the best Boeing Aircraft for flight simming. I just love the PMDG Aircraft. If Prepar3D is not keeping the Aircraft people on side I would think there days would be numbered. That would be the end of an era. I will take your advice and not do the update. I was thinking of v6 but not going there now. I just don’t know why they are not concentrating on improving the scenery side of thinks. I personally feel that is all they need to do to stay in the game. If people can’t get the aircraft they are not going to follow. Hoping to hear what you think. YAY I was waiting for you to do a video on 5.4. Lovely to see this. I don't think Quality Wings will update for 5.4 as it works fine so far. That being said, I am worried for v6.x release.... Most likely will need this update from QW and PMDG, which I suspect may fail to occur :(
Great Video, probably still hanging with v5.3 while us p3d users eagerly wait for more v6 news hoping developers might give it and us some love. Love your videos though, it’s nice to have content creators sticking around with a great sim with great addons along with a nice place for p3d users to converse.

Is is correct to infer from this video's "Addons:" list that they all work in 5.4? (e.g., //42; ORBX; ENVSOUND; ENVTEX; RDShade; GSX-2; AIG-AI) For better or worse am installing v5.4 today (I left flight sims many years ago). It was your AeroLogic 777F video that got me interested again, so am blaming you for making me spend $$$ to get back into the game 🙂 Could you do a flight that briefly showed which of your EXISTING 3rd party sceneries seem to work well / not so well in 5.4?
Haha, send me the bill mate ;) To be honest I did not check every single addon yet, but I would be surprised if any of them did not work. There is no reasons for any scenery not to work so it should be all fine :) Same goes for GSX, and all the visual add ons.

I am glad they got V5 out in time to get the addon updates needed before MSFS2020 came along and sucked all the air out of the space. I fear V6 will just be for military as us common folk will have to stick to V5 to keep the addons running.
Justflight cancelled their 747 and A300 projects for P3D and moved them to MSFS. The community for P3D is just so small. Most TH-camrs wont even acknowledge P3D as a sim option.
Hi broh, i have an issue with fslabs due to is not loading and cockpit keeps dead, and landing gear retracto,maybe you Knowles how to fix, it is Just in fslabs?
Hi Joe, no I think you would benefit from upgrading since v5 is generally much better in term of performance. However, since v5 features the Enhanced Atmospheric setting you will need to invest some time into setting up all your weather and cloud textures etc. But aircrafts and airports work fine without any issues
5.4 I haven't even been able to get p3dv5 up and running that's why, I got fed up uninstalled it, and went to steam😭 Aircraft Nav lights won't come on all I get when I turn on the lights is, big flashes of white pink, and blue lights which take up the whole windscreen😰 Can't see anything out of the cockpit window that is all white, can't figure out where to place the Rikooo airports they won't come up in the addon scenery library. Lastly, I'm using the Hotas G-52 throttle and stick when I choose it from the drop-down box in controllers and go to the aircraft, the plane won't move when given it power. When I go back to check why nothing is happening the controller drop-down box says mouse and drag, instead of Hotas G-52😱 Just one issue after another I'm tired of trying to figure this out😭

Make sure you are running P3D as administrator. I had all those problems and it turned out I was not running P3Dv5 as an administrator.

Saw Aerosoft forum has unsupported workaround available so SIMstarter can work in v5.4. Developer said official fix coming soon.
