you are magic, Marty! I almost nailed the desired effect. I got lost part way through with which layer was clicked to do the relevant brushing in the orb but so far I did pretty good. will keep working on this. this tutorial is so far the best i have found. I just need to pace myself and be patient.

really really cool. one suggestion is maybe the orbs cast shadow shouldnt be directly below... The cast shadows on the redrocks are to the right, sun is to the top left. another great vid!

I have some problems following your tutorial. My style window looks totally different to yours, that means I cannot fill in the specs required. I also don't know where to find and how to open the preset list. I have PS CC 2018, is your version a different one? I love this tutorial and so badly would like to follow it.

grrr how annoying this looks like an amazing tutorial except I cannot pass the first bit for some reason after I press Shift Option to drag out a square pressing cmd + J copies it but not to a layer reading up on photoshop help groups to see why :( any ideas or advice?
