That's a lovely old bike, understated. I love those nineties splatter-paint jobs. Top effort with the cleaning - you could have grown spuds in the muck that came off those jockey wheels!
In the middle of a 1990 Alpinestars restoration... this video was well timed. Your videos have been a huge inspiration for me over the years. Good to see a new one. Cheers Mark x
Great video! Have missed your content. Good to see your still saving some nice bikes. Are you going to do another eroica type of event video? I still watch those old ones. Keep up the good work.
Eroica is long since dead in the UK unfortunately. The last one I filmed was the last proper one I believe. The year after they started to collapse and only did a ride for 500 - Then I think it was excuses and Covid for a year or two - Goodwood bought the rights and upped the prices massively and no suprise - failed to make enough money (apparently) so cancelled it and haven't tried again.
Very exciting and entertaining to watch I saw the video short and this popped up what's a nice thing for a rainy day I just got back from a ride before the rain started well I've got a few things to do to a bike I'm not really sure who it's for it would be impossible to make money off it perhaps I'll be gift a child I want to mention those are really nice tyres as well
It’s Shimano ‘Premium’ Grease. Comes in a tube and costs £12.95 from Merlin Cycles for around 100ml I think it is. Looks very much like the grease Bikespeeds sell for £9 per 15ml 👀
Might want to give Castrol LMX, or Motul Tech Grease 300 a try. Great stuff for bearings etc. Costs almost the same as the Shimano, but you get 400g. And it's green, too! 😂
Many years ago, a Deore DX rear derailleur just broke off below the main mounting screw. As it turned out, there was a small air bubble inside. Mind, the bike had been ridden for around 15 years before that happened
I'm watching right now....made my day mate....I've missed your content!
Cheers bud! Appreciate you stopping by!
Just bought a rigid identical one in incredible shape, today!
Awesome. Have fun with it!
Welcome back,Mark! Been waiting for a build!! Nice Trek find.
Thanks. I’ve definitely got plenty more to come. I’ve actually been sitting on this footage since last year 😅
🤣
Glad you're back , thanks. I can wait for quality vids. 👍
Thank you!

Yeah it was pretty thick 😅 formed a couple of nice doughnuts picking it off.
I had a ‘trek’ over to wales at the weekend to pickup a diamondback ascent, my new project!Nice video 👌
He's back! 🎉
I guess so!

It has been a long time! Welcome back!
A beautiful bike and a great build. I hope you get at least cost plus on this.
I bought one of these modified with a suspension fork, just for the parts as well (band on XT FD and Hite Rite).
Ooo Hite Rite. Nice! Haven’t picked up one of those myself just yet.
It's been way to long! Good to see you back.
Thanks!

You came from a short? Well I guess that's proof they do work at getting attention for channels then!
Man you have got the tools= passion is real!!
I’ve been working on bikes for years now 😅 The tools soon build up
Sweet. I noticed the rear brake bosses are screw-on? I have seen those only on old cannondales
Green decals on a black frame? Count me in! 🖤💚 Nice work! 🙌
Nice Trek! 🎉
Do you still know the length of the bottom bracket?
Hmmm - A MT60 crankset is usually something like 122.5mm axle length
New bike build video! 😎👍 Nice retro build!🤍
Thanks! Just a simple service really!
You need to grab some grip edge rpt hex sockets for those stripped and stuck allen/ hex/ cap head bolts. Thanks for the video man.
Ah it wasn’t too hard to remove with a bit of careful pressure.
White splatter frame looks cool 👌🏻
It would have looked even better fresh out the factory. It’s faded a bit over the years but was definitely still in great condition.
@@MonkeyShred it's got the _kitchen benchtop_ look ha ha
Good to see you nice simple build N.y in the house😎
Thanks 👍 Didn’t you guys get a small earthquake recently?
@@MonkeyShred another fun 😎
Good stuff man!
Appreciate it!
its been awhile, thank you for your vids
Thanks for watching.
Awesome stuff man!!
Great video..
Its a win win👌
Thanks 👍
nice bike 👍
Thanks. It was a good find.
What make of green grease is that?
It’s Shimano ‘Premium’ Grease. Comes in a tube and costs £12.95 from Merlin Cycles for around 100ml I think it is. Looks very much like the grease Bikespeeds sell for £9 per 15ml 👀
@MonkeyShred lol you do get a nice syringe though! Thanks mate.

What product did you use to wipe the frame with a towel?
The towel is just a normal microfibre cloth.
I got the same bike, found on the trash 1 year ago, now im going to make a "rack" to carry my surfboard.
That sounds cool! How’s that going to work? Do you have to build it off the side a bit so it clears your legs?
@@MonkeyShred whit PVC pipes and pieces of aluminum, very easy ✌🏻
Where have you been? Missed these vids, and the cat. 😊
blimey - what happened to that freehub?
Just age I think. It wasn’t even that hard to undo so I’m guessing it had cracked some point in the past and fell apart when I undid it
Huh. How does one shatter a freehub?
Just age I think! It wasn’t even that tough to undo so I think it had broken off long before.

WOAH 17:44
MAGIC
Can you send me part to bali indonesia
Send me those pace forks immediately!
😂 Nope. I’ve got a Pace collection starting it seems
@@MonkeyShred will you have a go at restoring them?
@@samblenkharn8099 of course! I’ve already done one set on the channel
Are people still buying? Takes me like to 2-3 week to sell anything nowadays
Your lucky - mine take months!
😂 God no. I’ve struggled to sell XTR for cheap recently. Nothing is selling.
