Thanks, that was very useful. I only have a few mallets anyway since they are expensive and I will get a small bag.

    Hi,
I own that standing mallet/stick bag. I'm curious to hear what you think.
Do you think I made a good investment for starting out with that or not?
I'm going to br attending at a university in just about 2 months from now.
Do you think I should have bought a large mallet/stick bag? I was thinking maybe I should bought that as well to hold a laptop or some school supplies and manuscript papper and miscellaneous learning material. Do you think if I use a back pack I wouldn't need one?
Please let me know what you think.

Hi there! Thank you for your question.
I do believe you have made a great choice. The standing bags are extremely versatile and easy to carry around. Personally, I often carry a standing bag for my mallets and then a simple messenger bag for my music and accessories. As your mallet collection grows, it may be beneficial for you to purchase a larger bag for storage; however, I am not familiar with many percussionists who carry those bags on a daily basis. And in my opinion, I would not be comfortable storing a laptop in the larger bags simply due to a lack of padding outside the mallet compartment.
The standing bag will give you easy access to your mallets during rehearsals and practice. It also works as a basic mallet tray in a pinch. I am also constantly impressed by how many mallets I can fit in the standing bag when I need a large selection. I have been using mine steadily for about 5 years now and I have no complaints. Hope this helps! Best of luck in your preparation for university!
