The city Theater is the largest theater complex in Iran, which includes five theaters. The city Theater was built in Tehran during the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, the last king of Iran, and at the initiative of Shah Bano Farah.
City Theater is the only theater in Iran that does not have a fence, so that in addition to the indoor spaces, the open area around the building in the vicinity of Pahlavi Street (Vali Asr now) and the Student Park area are also part of this complex and play a significant role in attracting audiences. It used to be a show hall, but now it is fenced by the municipality!
Valiasr Crossroad is the intersection of Islamic Revolution Street and Valiasr Street. Around this intersection, there are important centers and attractions for citizens, which has made this intersection one of the most important and busiest places in the city. Among these attractions, we can mention the City Theater, Student Park, Vahdat Hall Complex, Reza Computer Market, bookstores and software stores, and cafes with delicious food. But one of these attractive attractions that has been located in this intersection for several years is the shops that are located on the northwest side of the intersection and sell various products.
Due to its proximity to Pahlavi Crossroads, City Theater, Vahdat Hall, Tehran University and Amir Kabir University of Technology, Student Park is very important and busy.
Also, Student Park has long been a place for gathering of LGBT people in Tehran.
The student park is around the city theater and according to the javan newspaper, this park has been associated with LGBT for decades.
The police tries to create security and movement restrictions for LGBT people in this park and arrests people who do not have a conventional appearance.
